Who really needs a job when they can have an ad from a celebrity politician telling them that things have gotten better, instead?
Hillary Clinton has a new ad, which is all about how much better things have gotten since she became Senator. You can see it here, and the script is after the jump, courtesy of Capitol Confidential.
There's nothing particularly bad about it, except that those of us who remember 2000 will recall how Hillary endlessly promised to make the upstate economy better, create jobs there, and on and on. Now Eliot Spitzer, also a Democrat, is lamenting what a basket case upstate is and promising to do better. And Jack Davis, the Democrat trying to unseat Tom Reynolds in the 26th CD, is talking about the 40,000 jobs lost since Reynolds became Congressman in 1998.
So how could she have done such a terrific job if two members of her own party are lamenting how horrible things are? Why do Spitzer and Davis attack Pataki and Reynolds, instead of Clinton and Schumer? In the final line of her ad (below), the narrator Clinton has hired to flatter her says, "Boy has she come through for us."
Well, maybe so, but not according to Spitzer and Davis. So maybe the Democrats should have a confab and decide whether upstate NY is getting better or not. Unless they don't really care, and their only goal is to say whatever will help their personal careers.
