Spitzer Street

Spitzer has a new ad up. It's called "Responsibility Road," and it features Eliot narrating a tour of running mate David Paterson's old school, which uses road signs in the hall to guide the students in life.

Eliot: "You begin your journey on Trustworthy Turnpike, make a left past Honesty Road, turn down Integrity Lane, and eventually, if you walked the right way, end up on Responsibility Road. Starting in January, we’ll be leading our state government on the same journey. And we’re going to make it all the way to the end."

So now seemed like a good time to ask his campaign for a list of all the design and construction guys who attended that $1000-a-head breakfast fundraiser with Eliot yesterday morning, and desperately want him to make the taxpayers finance some more Trustworthy Turnpikes, Responsibility Roads and Incredibly Ixpensive Infrastructures.

Sad to say, Spitzer's campaign isn't quite ready to make a side trip onto Transparency Avenue. "We don't release lists of attendees," says spokesperson Christine Anderson.

But wait! They did release his Corporate Leaders for Spitzer Team -- which, of course, falls into a completely different category than attendees at a pay-to-play-type fundraiser -- and The Politicker has it. It turns out that paragons of corporate responsibility like Wilbur Ross, whose Sago Mine did that great maintenance job on its self-rescuers, want to be on board with Eliot when he sets out on Responsibility Road.

Spitzerland, where the Sheriff of Wall Street meets Mr. Mine Disaster, and they find peace and harmony. Yes sir, it's going to be quite a ride.

And don't be cynical. Remember -- on Day One, everything changes.

John, I guess you don't read your own paper(with some of the stuff you guys put out...I wouldn't be too inclined to read it myself)...here you go....
We got this back from Christine Anderson, the candidate's spokesperson:

" The reason he agreed to speak the group the morning after the primary is because he wanted to start off the general election by talking about his plan to make New York the best place to do business in America. In his speech to CEOs from around the country he said that New York State will be open for business come January 1, 2007 in a way that it’s never been before and he appealed to them to consider bringing their operations here. "

end of story...check out today's newsday...did you happen to read this article
"Some in LI business community sold on Spitzer"
from the tone of your commentary here..my guess is you didn't..oh well.....andy

As the chief law enforcement officer of the state who is pretty much crowned as the next governor, I want to know why Eliott Spitzer has refused to involve himself with one of the biggest scandals in NYS history: that is the wrongful conviction of Martin Tankleff. Marty's is the most egregious wrongful conviction any legal scholar in the USA has ever heard of? Could Spitzer's reticence be due to his strong advocacy for the death penalty and his allegiance to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota who has pledged his support to Spitzer on the condition that Spitzer give him a free pass on the Tankleff miscarriage of justice? It can't be because Spitzer doesn't know about Marty's case. If he says he doesn't know about it, Spitzer is a liar. Mr. Spitzer: There is nary a person in Suffolk County who is familiar with Marty's case (which is just about everybody) who doesn't believe that he is innocent and that at least three murderers are running scott free not only for the Tankleff murders but any other murders they already committed or will commit! So, Mr. Tough on Crime: What do you plan to do about it? Voters in Suffolk County want to know!
