By quoting a New York magazine profile way out of context, as calling him "the perfect candidate for governor," the Suozzi campaign has managed to turn his first major mailing into a moderate fiasco. Of course, last night it was opponent Spitzer who ran afoul of the truth by trying to pass off a back-to-back TV appearance planned for Aug. 30 by the two Democratic rivals as another "debate."

all press is good press, especially if you're tom suozzi. he's turned a mailing that might have cost him low six figures into another whole news cycle of articles featuring him in a way that doesnt involve suspicious loans, campaign workers or fired staff members.
i'd say it's genius. between this and the "debate briefing book" gag that rivera is earning his salary and then some.
I'm not offended by either tweak of the truth in these cases. Harmless spin as opposed to some of the other nonsense that has routinely come from the witch Kim Devlin.
Seems like Paul Rivera fans reading the blogs. Totally dumb mailing.
I have to say, every chance Newsday gets to say something negative about tom suozzi, they jump on it. They even had to send their online readers to a negative editorial from the newyork post. Also, the day after the debate, they said it went to spitzer and the day after that they called it even. Their coverage of the 2 candidtaes is not even. When was the last time we read anything even an tiny bit of critism about eliot spitzer? I was thinking, why all of asudden this suozzi bashing at every opportunity. relentless negative press. They put it out faster than you can read about it. Then it hit me, during the circulation scandel, newsday was cut alot of slack by the attorny generals office. you dont belive me, just search long island press, type in newsday and spitzer and you can read it for your self. I can also send the site in my next comment for people interested in it. I guess eliot spitzer wasn't doing his "crusader" work when it came to newsday.
Thanks tangled web, I wonder what newsday thinks about ur comment? I checked it out and it sure does answer alot of the tom suozzi bashing of late.
How does it explain the way the News, the Post and the Times have approached the Suozzi candidacy?
very quiet on the blogs today. i wonder how many people really read the newsday cover up story on the long island press website. like mowst of us have heard our whole lives, "the truth sometimes hurts."
Jim, have you read the post lately? Front cover news is Mets Catcher Paul Loduca was caught cheating on his wife. So lets dont go there, okay? The new York times has been fare with suozzi, infact even calling for more debates between the 2, so lets dont go there, okay? and the daily news doesnt take every little thing and turn it into a fiasco ,like newsday, so lets dont go there, okay? Newsday is running over tom suozzi every chance they have, but thats not good enought for them, they run him over, but just to make sure they'got him' they back up and run him over again(new york post editorials, etc) read the long island press story, newsday is scared to death, trust me.
it seems that some people can't read well--newsday is tom's paper--they have carried his water on every issue---regardless of the facts or the truth--but despite newsday--long island voters, which should be tom's base, have overwhelmingly rejected his candidacy--and who says long islanders don't have good taste---look at the latest editorial in which newsday encourages tom to keep to the high road----and wondering out loud why tom is doing so poorly after all the pundits thought he would do much better---who are they talking too, each other--anybody who had even a second grade education in politics knew that spitzer was coming to slap tom silly--the question was how badly-and there i am somewhat surprised as well--since none of the above usually can get 30%, its is fair to say that that tom is running well behind none of the above--and it only cost the nassau county vendors and wall street mad money some $10 million dollars---as to the high road, tom wouldn't knew it if he fell on it--he has made a career traveling the low road, so it is fair to say that tom is just being tom, newsday is just being newsday and spitzer will be the next governor and tom will then have to come back to nassau and try to figure out how to get to new hampshire and iowa-
listen mr. greene, everyone one with a pre-k education in politics knows too that if they step on the wrong toes, there will be a price to pay. The attorny general( new yorks "selective" crusader) cut newsday slack( on the circulation scandel) and a deal. Read and learn, and I wonder how many long islanders really know that the attorney general had made that "back room" deal. Iwonder if newsday would print that in their editorials and lets vote on that before the next run over suozzi story.
hey newsday, the post has paul lo duca on its front cover for the 4th straight day. Any interesting editorials you can have us online subscribers read about tom suozzi today from that terrific paper?
