Clinton v. Rumsfeld

So, the big political news is Hillary calling on Rumsfeld to resign.

According to this account of yesterday's doings, she told Rumsfeld: "Under your leadership, there have been numerous errors in judgment that have led us to where we are."

Now, we know this all has to do with the junior senator's Courage and Leadership, and nothing to do with the bashing Joe Lieberman is getting from fellow Dems in Connecticut for voting -- along with Hillary -- to give the Bush administration a blank check to go to war with Iraq if they wanted, and not pushing hard enough to get the troops out.

But still, when you think about it, couldn't you say the same thing to Hillary that she said to Rummy?

UPDATE: The Times has a good Saturday piece on how Hillary actually didn't realize the blank check was a blank check, and how the Rumsfeld gambit fits into her ongoing effort to pretend she has some intelligible position on Iraq without actually taking one.

Perhaps Hillary is "play acting" what she wanted to say to good old bill?

(no, not THAT Bill C.)
There is no contradiction in Hillary asking Rummy to resign. HAd this war been conducted properly, the global landscape would have changed for the better. All we had to do was not disband the Iraqi army, not make bonehead occupying force decisions, not go in undermanned because we somehow couldn't foresee an insurgency, etc. These were not errors bornee of authorizing the war. They were errors in how the war was conducted. Congress gets a pass on this one. It's all on the neo-cons and their puppet in the White House with a third grade intellect.

When "Our Hilliary" uses a nationlly televised US Senate Armed Services Committee hearing to tell Donald Rumsfeld to his face that he should resign--this is the signal that Democratic Party leadership knows Lamont is going to win and the stampeede to the Left has begun for potential 2008 candidates. She can now say she was the first candidate for Presidsent to call for Rummy's resignation. The New York Times Editorial Board should love it!

Yeah man. Those liberals with their calls for "accountability." What's that all about? They should just shut their traps and let the current administration continue the excellent jobs they have been doing for the past six years.
