Suozzi Got Money From First Space Tourist

By now some people may think gubernatorial hopeful Tom Suozzi has his head in the clouds for taking on Eliot Spitzer but a review of the Nassau County executive’s financial filings shows Suozzi received a big donation from a space traveler.

Suozzi got $37,661 from California millionaire Dennis Tito, and his wife, Elizabeth. Tito traveled to the International Space Station in 2001 after reportedly paying the Russian space program $20 million for the eight-day flight.

Tito’s son, Bradford, is Suozzi’s personal aide on the campaign and also works as a project director for the county’s environmental department. That raises another question. Why is a millionaire’s son playing squire to Suozzi’s Quixote?

Yeah sure, I guess Mr and Ms Tito really know how to spend their money on really useful stuff. I mean, $20 Million just to satisfy their own personal ego need for a little adventure. So, of course being somewhat manic or having some other agenda which as yet are unaware of , the Titos decide to donate a huge chunk, not even close to what they spend for a short stay at a Russian Bed and Breakfast with a view, on Tom's bid for NEW YORK GOVERNOR... Hmmm? Why would a really, really wealthy couple from Aahhnold's neck of the woods be dropping a pile here on Tom's Campaign? I mean, I met Tom when he was a punk running for Mayor of Glen Cove and he was a really nice kid with a pleasant personality who really seemed to care about the locals in Glen Cove. He ran little Town Meetings, visited the residents of run down apartment buildings who were on fixed incomes, like Seniors, and Disabled Folks, and he cared about the growing Hispanic/Central American Community in the City of Glen Cove too.

But, big bucks benefits, baseball cards with HIS team on them, and now big investors from out of state and... hell, what's next Hollywood money to remake the epic disaster HILLARY FOR SENATOR with Tom cast in the role of noble young liberal white guy who seems to care, makes a pretty good effort to balance the budget and then becomes the next Doge?

The Doge's Palace in Alabany, along with "Rocky's Tombs" are a tribute to what could go wrong when a guy from a fairly humble beginning, gets way too much attention and has too much success at a relatively early age.

Caveats are in order. Tom seems like a really good guy, but then again so do most politicians who are bright shining stars on the local scene and then bite off more than they can reasonably chew without having the proper inside track.

He ain't no connected Kennedy and even the Kennedy's would have a hardtime in this town these days despite RFK's and other familial followers service to this state, as well as Massachusetts.

Beware Tom. It's really, really deep and the waters of the upper Hudson, although cleaner than they used to be, are still full of sharks.
