IRRESPONSIBLE!
Consider the fact that there have been a series of stalkings and murders of "REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS" and Catholic Priests, one right here on Long Island a couple of years ago, and then consider the reasons.
The American Public's need to label, and publicly identify individuals they find personae non gratia due to obvious deviant criminal conduct results in paranoia, persecution, and murders of folks who for whatever reason, are wont to engage in crosswired violent/sexual conduct or exploit and/or molest minors.
Folks with such compulsions and or drives are generally not anti-social personalities, although in order to rationalize their out of control behaviors, they manifest behaviors, and often expouse beliefs and attitudes which is designed to deflect their own feelings of self loathing and guilt.
Most folks who engage in such behaviors are ill, sociologically or clinically in a psychiatric sense. Sexual Crimes like rape, or crimes of passion involving sex, including crimes against children, are not generally sex acts. They are acts of violence or expressions of need to resolve, inappropriately, internal conflict with one's self and society secondary to programming by an abusive society. Most perps were themselves victims.
When we identify them and make their crimes public we endanger their ability to survive, work, live and heal after their incarceration or treatment. It also threatens their lives and many have died at the hands of folks seeking revenge.
The Catholic Church had a problem with folks hiding out in the church as a direct result of this Vigilantee attitude among Americans. The church in Latin America and Europe does not have this problem and did not ever to this degree.
Since folks who experieced such urges and engaged in such behaviors were singled out and their crimes made a matter of public record, many, before arrest and prosecution, go to the church for protection, employment and housing. They pray that the "Lord" protect them and heal them, as most religiously inclined individuals are inclined to do.
It was one of the last refuges for the chronically sexually crosswired. Considering the Catholic Church's history of sexual obsession and the 1000 year old ban on Priests and Nuns being married and/or engaging in sexual practices it is not a wonder such an attitude would develop and the church would become a potential refuge to those who are seeking safety and healing through traditionally spiritual means vs. modern therapeutic interventions.
SEX Crimes are not about SEX. They are attempts to convert PAIN to PLEASURE as is one of the most primary instincts we possess. Many folks are violently crosswired due to our need to punish folks for normal sexual urges and desires at points in their lives where they are going through puberty, are not mature, or socialized effectively to understand the situation, are acting out, due to society's prohibitions on children even learning to participate in sexual behavior in a healthy way and then vent that energy in sports and/or violently.
Sexual urges and desires are the most normal and basic instinctual need and drive we all possess. In centuries past, even earlier in this century, it was not abnormal for young adolescents, particularly in rural areas to marry at 14, 15 or 16. In centuries past, folks didn't live very long due to a lack of technology and the economic conditions were such that folks needed to begin producing children at a much earlier age, and more of them.
Of course, we discovered that adolescents were often injured, died, and the infant mortality rate was horrendous due to such conditions. Hence, the Renaissance and Baroque interest in larger, bigger boned women, as depicted in our art forms historically. Why, the little skinny 14 year olds had a bad habit of dying in child birth and producing low birth weight children or having spontaneous abortions.
We outlawed RAPE thousands of years ago, but sex with and among minors was considered the norm up to the 50s and 60's of the last century in many rural parts of America.
It isn't abnormal to want to do such things when we are stimulated or angry, it is just antisocial, dangerous and destructive to do so, as it results in illness, injury and death, either accidentally or through our predeliction to confuse sex with violence. They are not the same.
Registering Sex Offenders is dangerous and antisocial. This practice drove more sexually deviant thinking individuals into the protection of the Church and results in increased antisocial vigilantee behavior and only serves to increase our own primitive, Victorian attitudes towards sex in general.
Sex Crimes are generally expressions of disordered behavior or are just violence being converted inappropriately to deviant destructive pleasure as is our most basic instictual drive which maturity and healthy development of a more therapeutic and pleasure driven society geared towards solving problems, vs. creating them can resolve effectively.
Not quite sure who to blast here, but let's get our facts straight people. Although the Lone Star Tick does carry tick borne disease, it certainly does not carry it in Upstate New York because this tick is not really indigenous to our area. If we are going to blast someone for trying to further their political standing, let's get our facts correcet. If it is going to ultimately help people anyway, who gives a rats butt!
