Dem to Trunzo: Be Boss or Be Senator

Democratic State Senate hopeful Jimmy Dahroug yesterday called for State Sen. Caesar Trunzo to step down either as Islip GOP leader or give up his Senate seat.
Dahroug, embroiled in a three way Democratic primary, made the call standing outside Trunzo’s the state office building in Hauppauge Wednesday where Trunzo has an office. “You must decide whether to you want to do one job well or continue to do both poorly, “ said Dahroug, who ran against Trunzo two years ago.

Noting that state is dealing with problems like high taxes and school aid, Dahroug, an aide to County Executive Steve Levy, said, “If you’re too busy as party boss to deal with these problems, then you are part of the problem.”
Trunzo, who was not in his office during the new conference Wednesday, said through a spokesman: “Jimmy is recycling the same tired arguments that he made during his campaign two years ago. The voters knew better in 2004 and they will again this year. My consituents know that i have always put them first and will continue to do so.”

Jimmy Dahroug: The pot calling the kettle black

Jimmy Dahroug should take his own advice give up his County Executive Assistant salary he draining from Suffolk County taxpayers while he is campaigning on the steps of the Albany capital.

This might also give him more time to pay attention to his questionable campaign finances.

Dahroug didn't file a campaign report for 2005 or January 2006 until July 2006.

He filed his July report a week late.

He left out some 46 entries totaling some $8,000 in donations and then amended his report late at night in August after being caught in a big lie about how much money he had told Newsday he had 'raised' in 2006 and 'on hand' just back on July 17, 2006.

That's got to be a violation of at least three election laws.

He wants to be a Senator. No thanks we don't need any more politicians out of Islip who play with campaign contributions.

BTW: Even after the his midnight machinations Dahroug's purported numbers still aren't close to the $20,000 he mislead Newsday and its readers to believe he had on hand......

"Jimmy Dahroug, an aide to Suffolk Executive Steve Levy and Trunzo's foe two years ago, said he has raised $40,000 and has more than half left on hand. "It's certainly enough to get our message of Steve Levy-style reform out and that's the message that will resonate," he said." Newsday 7-17-2006

After adjustment for $25,599 in non-cash 'in-kind' virtual expense contributions of unconfirmable value (a substantial portion coming from Dahroug himself) and $2,000 in Schedule A cash contributions from himself, Jimmy Dahroug more factually raised just around $10,000 in 2006 real spendable dollars from contributers (Schedules A,B, C) and spent nearly all of it, also around $10,000, in real spendable dollars (Schedule F).

If it weren't for his $2,000 and $7,600 he resurrected from 2004 (and failed to properly report on in 2005)....he would have nothing left in the bank......most certainly his numbers do not add up to 'half of $40,000 on hand'............under any legitimate scrutiny.........
