Kathleen Rice, the Democrat who in her first bid for public office defeated Republican icon Denis Dillon last fall in the race for Nassau County district attorney, has made a big impression on some state GOP bigwigs. They lavished praise on her Friday in Dillon's hometown of Rockville Centre.
Gov. George Pataki lauded Rice for her support of his push for changes in criminal justice laws recently adopted by the state Legislature. And Pataki’s criminal justice chief Chauncey Parker described Rice as “one of the key leaders throughout the state” despite her having been in office only six months.
“She was at our side, literally going door to door pushing for the governor’s DNA bill over the last several weeks. And she’s at our side in everything we’re doing in criminal justice,” Parker said during a bill-signing ceremony.

I applaud Kathleen Rice for taking such a stand against drunk driver's.
It's long over due, I have never had someone injured or killed by a drunk driver ,but I believe it's about time people take the responsibility for their actions.
