At least the dogs in these battles are wanted. Too many times dogs are surrendered to shelters due to divorce.

Let the humans fight it out in court as long as the dogs are taken care of. Unfortunately, in some cases, the animals become pawns in the spousal battle to get the upper hand and one over on the other. And one of the spouses usually gets hurt. But...we can make those choices-our dogs cannot.

That is so true, Mila. That is what happened to the 2 senior greyhounds that ended up at Montville A.C. Neither party wanted them and the husband kept the Italian Grey. What slimebuckets and liers they were. Those 2 seniors were so scared and confused. Thank goodness for Jane, the A.C. officer. The foster family fell in love with them and kept them. If a couple wants a divorce, make sure the pets are taken care of as well as the children. Both can get lost in the chaos and end up being the victims because the couple puts their own needs above the other family members.

IF i would ever get divorced, my hubby would have to pry all 5 of mine out of my cold, dead hands. MINE, MINE, MINE (right Monica???)

Hi Everyone,
I just read in the paper that Lt. Alan Borgal ( remember he had offered to try to net Vivi when she appeared to be in one area) removed 90 dogs and puppies from a Randolph, MA home that looked like it was used for breeding. He had vets come and check the dogs in the backyard before they took them away. Has anyone heard more about this?
Always thinking of Vivi, Sarge and our lost and sick babies. May more miracles come soon with better weather.

I think my husband and I would have to stay together for the good of the dogs. There's just no way either of us would relent since we both love the dogs so much. It's amazing that we consider them like our kids and it'll just break our hearts to split them up since they all get along so well and to be without any of them. So, that's why we'll never get divorced!

This is the last appeal in concern to saving the little soul in Independence, MO Animal Services. Having consulted with a person who is versed in these types of cases - his advice was simple. Many people truly have worked very hard to ensure that this girl gets the fairest treatment in the decision in regard to the law and so, there is something we can still do to help her.
Please keep in mind from the onset, the shelter has only been following the Department of Agriculture's advice - and following protocol due to "public safety issues". If it is determined, that there is still concern about her potential exposure to a rabid animal from health officials and those who are experts in the county and state, the other option if this must be followed is to quarantine her. If this decision occurs, there is the possibility that it may even be done in a veterinary facility. There have been many angels who have worked tirelessly in concern to her as she's come to be a representation of the many animals who are in great need in county shelters everywhere. The fact that she has lived on this earth this long, only to have her life end because of this, is touching us all. Some have offered to take her in while others have offered sponsorship to pay for boarding or medical needs.
And so, because the shelter staff works very hard taking care of the animals who come through their doors - having to take time to answer the phone is not in the best interest of all involved and we must respect their need to maintain their facility. Instead, please send the shelter a note of heartfelt thoughts - to please save her.....It has been said that there is nationwide interest for her and thus, if we can do this in a polite and kind way, we only wish to convey to the shelter with understanding that we are simply caring individuals who have regard and respect for the life of one little gray-muzzled angel.
Special thanks to all who have prayed, written, researched and offered their help for her and is she is now being called "Mira" short for Miracle....(something we are still hoping for)

Her face in the picture makes you want to hug her and tell her it will be ok.... she is so precious. Mira is SAFE!!! She will spend the next 6 months in quarantine (praying that she was not infected with the rabies) and when she gets out Mira has a forever home waiting for her. All the letters and emails and calls made a difference in the decision to let her live!!

Yayyyyyy for Ruby Angel!!! What a glorious red headed (well, whole body) girl she is! And what a wonderful life she has in her future. Way to go, ladies! Because of you all she does have that future!

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I posted (daughter's wedding planning for July 26) and I'm glad to see things are looking better. Darlene, glad to see you're feeling better and posting. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Betty - I also thank you for your prayers. They are so moving and beautiful. My grandpup Luca is feeling much better. He's on a new dog food and my daughter puts all natural plain yogurt with it. He absolutely loves it! Luca was getting constant yeast infections and that seems to be controlling it. So now he's able to go outside and play in his plastic pool. Winnie has been holding her own with the cataracts. The cataract covered her entire left eye and she can't see out of it and the right eye is starting to get the same way. I feel so bad that I didn't catch this sooner. It seems to have progressed very quickly. I just didn't notice it unfortunately before it was too late. Now I plan on getting her drops to see if that will help. Has anyone every heard or tried C-Can for cataracts in humans and animals? I did some research on it and it sounds pretty promising. Surgery can't be done for her. At 14 yrs. old and no guarantees I can't take that chance. But it so breaks my heart seeing her like this. She walked off the side of the bed twice already because she didn't judge right. Any input would be appreciated.

Thought I would post an update for those that wanted to know about my arm. After the fall, I finally went to the orthopedic surgeon today. I kept putting it off because I had a "gut feeling" it was not going to be good news.

Dr. Lochemes cringed when he saw me, and couldn't believe I had hurt his 5-hour surgery. I found out the 3 plates and 28 pins in this arm have been shifting, moving and breaking for a while now. He did not think the fall did the damage as much as a slow deterioration over the past few years. In summary, I have one part of the elbow surgery which is a complete non-join, and the upper part of my arm is functioning to move somewhat like a elbow. Very bizarre he said. He feels surgery to try and repair this might be of "epidemic proportions," and maybe impossible. I could lose much more control of my arm. He said the previous surgery was a "piece of cake" compared to what this surgery would entail.

So I am to think this over for the next month or so and see if I can live with the pain instead. I plan on getting a second and maybe third opinion, so please be praying I will find an answer. Thank you Betty for your continuing prayers for me. I guess I am very blessed to be able to use this arm at all.

Wish I were closer to help you Kathleen. My husband has arthritis in his elbows hands and knees. He has had surgery on one elbow and hand and they fused his thumb. He has been told if he doesn't have surgery on his knees, he will be in a wheelchair in five years. I know how much pain he has so I can guess at yours. Please let us know how you are doing.

I'm really losing it. I didn't finish the sentence from this morning before I went out and don't remember posting it. Anyway, Kathleen, get 2nd and 3rd opinions from other doctors. Have you gone to any alternative practitioners like holistic or accupuncture? One never knows what could help the pain and mobility.

I guess we have to go read Grateful to find out that Vivi may have been sighted not once but twice! How sad is that?

Update on ShyAnne --- my daughter said she was outside going potty and when she called her name to come in --- she was trying to run - so apparently she is feeling and manuvering better - thanks for the prayers and candles.

Although I don't post much anymore, not because I've forgotten Vivi, but because of people like anonymous who try to stir things up among us and haven't the guts to sign their name. DON'T try and put Darlene down. I know she doesn't need me to defend her but we've been in this together since Feb.15 '06---day 1 and she put in many many hours on the ground searching for Vivi. You sound like a very bitter and vindictive person. It's not important who knows what and when. If Vivi is ever found EVERYONE will know and that's all that's important. Just pray that day will come soon.

I have all sorts of names for my dogs. It doesn't mean I don't love them. Same for VIVI. Only a few have tried to stir up trouble here. We all work together and pray together for animals and humans. Darlene has worked far harder than most have and she knows she has our support.

MANY people searched and posted flyers and worked very hard for a LONG time to save Vivi. It was NOT a one person operation, though it's sometimes made to sound that way. People also contributed money to try and save Vivi on many occasions.

I certainly respect your right to your opinions and thoughts; however, your amateur psychanalysis is DEAD wrong. I am not a bitter and vindictive person. I am a frustrated and disappointed realist at what I've had a front row seat to here for more than two years. The results are what you see. Vivi has not been found and there is no closure for most of us.

We are asked to PRAY for Vivi's safety, yet we are not even given the respect to know that there were two possible sightings of Vivi and what is being done to see if it is Vivi. Only a privileged few are permitted to have their hopes rise and to know there is a glimmer of hope....WHO THE HELL MADE THOSE RULES AND WHY IS THAT?

It is sad that so many people who worked SO hard and walked their feet off posting and looking for Vivi for many months are now treated as second class citizens and not entitled to know if there is a call that comes in....that's what has discouraged and driven so many good people away. I see now that the same mentality is still alive and well...so sad, so damn sad.

Bottom line is that Vivi deserves RESPECT.....she deserves to be called VIVI.....not derogatory names that should be saved for private conversations. It offends many people and it isn't cute or charming, so please stop doing that.

Thank you for reminding me that the blog mentality remains just the same.....closed and ready to rip apart anyone who has another view to post.

I am sorry you feel the way you do. Obviously you are in NYC and have been out there with the others searching and posting, desperately wanting Vivi to be rescued... as we all do.
As for the blog mentality, your post fits right in with some of the other negative postings this site has seen over the last two years and more. And you say "everyone has a right to their opinion" but you seem just as quick to judge and play the blame game.

I believe by "Grateful" they must mean the Gratefulness candle site where we light candles. I wondered at first myself. This is the only thing I could come up with for the "Grateful term" used in the blog entry.

Thanks everyone. I am definitely checking out all possibilities. I will be heading to a specialist at the world-renown orthopedic surgery group, Campbell Clinic. I have also been pursuing getting digital copies of my x-rays to send to some of the people on the internet who have written research papers on surgeries very similar to this. I'm hoping one of these will have some good input. The thought of the limitation and pain with this arm for the rest of my life is just not acceptable to me if anything can be changed. Just keep praying please. I trust God. He never gives us a trial or problem that He does not also provide a solution as well. He is a wonderful Daddy God as Betty would say.

He will also bring Vivi back to us when the time is right in His timeframe.

I haven't posted here for awhile but that doesn't mean I don't check in. It's kind of amusing that "Anonymous" feels she's entitled to spew her/his venom but then gets so defensive whenever anyone posts anything to contradict her/his point of view.

It's my feeling that "Anonymous" is a person who perhaps posted flyers and searched for Vivi in the past. Why doesn't this person get in touch with someone on the Vivi phone and see about checking with the man who saw her? If would sure make things easier and we'd all know whats going on for sure.....Easier said than done maybe?

Vivi needs candles as do our humans and little Dante who is giving Val fits by not always eating his food.
He had a good report when he was at the Holistic Vets, but he keeps messing with Val and not eating at times.

How about this! Vivi, the Bitch!! I hate her and when we find her I am going to personally break her legs so she can't run anymore, or maybe just twist them so she limps.

WooooooooHoooooooooooo I knew those 300 candles for Vivi a few weeks ago would shake something up or were because everyone sensed something was shaking. Don't usually go so long without checking in on that little bitch Vivi, but I missed gratefulness.org and this blog for about the last 3 days though and just now saw the possible sighting on this blog. Who posted it on Gratefullness? It only stays up for 2 days there.
It lifts the spirits and chases away the feelings of despair to hear this. Try to remain optimistic but it is hard with no news! I hope too we will hear some follow up on these reports.

Not being critical, just been hanging around so long that it's impossible to quit.

Let's get 300 up there again and maybe more news will follwo

What's so sad about the last 2 yrs is that SO MANY people have helped with ViVi but for whatever reason only a few knows what's going on. Another thing that is sad to me is that if I had a friend with cancer taking chemo and radiation I would take some of that stress off and follow up myself with any potential sightings. You guys are putting alot on Rosa's plate to take care of everything. Now that's sad to me.

I am SURE Kathy Bayside meant no harm with her statement. She has been one of the people who has worked hard also to find Vivi. She was just expressing in her way her FRUSTRATION with Vivi and the search over the last 2 years.

These ladies have worked tirelessly trying to track and find Vivi, and ANYONE would be frustrated. Please cut some slack here, and don't attack people who has helped Vivi and others in New York. I know we all have made comments when we are frustrated at times. I know I sure have.

Just the other day I jokingly threatened to "break the knuckles" of my good friend at work if she randomized "one more patient to a study." We both laughed hard because we knew how tired and frustrated we both were with the fast pace at work - so many new patients - HIV is on the raise again folks. I think Kathy Bayside was probably feeling that same frustration with Vivi. She wants her to stop running from us so badly so their lives can return to the way they were before Vivi's unfortunate loss and long journey.

We ALL love Vivi more than even we probably will ever realize. Her medallion hangs in my office at work to always remind me to pray for her continuously to be found and safe.

We are a family here - Vivi's extended family. This blog and Vivi have united us in a way we would have never known each other before - we have learned so much from this journey.

We have all worked hard for ViVi but I would never say those words out of frustration. This blog has hit rock bottom.
