14-month old intact female Mastiff taken from car at Homestead Suites in Secaucus, N.J. She was in town for the dog show.

Last seen at 7:15 a.m., crated in the back of the breeder's SUV. Was left in truck while breeder went into the room to attend to some last-minute details. She came out at 7:20 a.m. and the dog was missing. The leash and water bowl were also taken.

A police report has been filed and all shelters and vets are being notified.

The dog's name is Pounder (Bellawood No Doubt About It) and she is approximately 160 lbs. She is microchipped, and a reward is being offered for her safe return, no questions asked.

Please keep Pounder and her breeders and owners in your thoughts and crosspost this message to get the word out.

Any information please contact Pounder's breeder:

Oh my gosh! How terrible. Dogs are like chiildren - should not be left unattended. I feel so terrible for these folks! I hope the pup is found. My guess is someone wanted it for themselves (cuz if was going to be treated "cruelly", then the thief wouldn't of taken the water bowl)!

God bless the innocent!

Just to clarify, they didn't mention in the original alert that the vehicle was indeed locked when the dog was left in it - the thief broke into the vehicle, stole the Navigational Device and the dog.

It's so scary that the breeder did everything "right" and someone still got into the car.

A newspaper article:

Here's hoping that Pounder makes it home safely!

Just read that Pounder has been FOUND!!!

I will post more details about the circumstances as they become available!

I'm so happy to hear Pounder has been found. Please let us know the details as soon as you find out.

GREATTTTTTTT....Now lets hear that Vivi has been found! I promise to be nice from now on if she is and you all know me.... It's not easy being nice..heh xoxoxorooby

Fantastic news. I saw it on Regis and Kathy Lee this morning about him being stolen. Maybe that helped. Thank you God.

The poor dog was found in Newark. Idiots who stole him probably thought they got a fighting dog. The Star Ledger has the story:
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/03/missing_prizewinning_mastiff_f.html

this is s uch great news, the jerks who dognapped probably
thought they could make some money off of this dog in the
" pit rings" they don't know Mastiffs very well, they will lick you
to death. Oh Happy Day, now if we could just hear some news
about Vivi.

I am writing this letter to show my gratitude to all the people who
have been following Pounder's story. I cannot thank you enough for your care, concern, prayers, ideas, time and efforts. Thank you to all the organizations, clubs, media outlets, veterinarians, shelters, law enforcement and individuals who made an effort to help find Pounder and bring her home to us. Your support, generosity and care are overwhelming and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I received a call late Monday night by a man who said he had found Pounder. He first saw her on Saturday running loose off a highway in Newark, N.J. He pulled over and tried to catch her. After some time he was able to get her loaded into his vehicle. He then brought her home. Pounder stayed with him and his family until they saw her in their local newspaper. That was when I got the call. We met at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

It was definitely my Pounder. What a wonderful reunion. Pounder was so excited to see me and I was so relieved to have her back. She was in very good condition considering her ordeal. Miracles do happen. I cry every time I think about it or try to talk about it.

At this time you are not going to be releasing the name of the family who located her as the case is still open. But I am so grateful and thank them for bringing Pounder home.

Thank you all so much,

Shelby Johnsen

Pounder's breeder and co-owner
