Help find Sargeant on Vivi's old turf

Bonnie Folz -- who, since her Vivi stint, has kept tabs on virtually every lost critter in Queens -- sends this on. Sergeant was just sighted at 26th Avenue and 202nd Street corner near the Clearview Golf Course at 8:45 this morning:

“Sargeant”, the Coonhound mix has been missing for over a month. Sargeant’s owner, Joann, needs our help to find this poor lost boy.

There have been no sightings in weeks. It is possible that Sargeant was found by someone, or since he was lost wearing his collar and leash, may be caught on something somewhere.

We will be meeting on Sunday morning March 2nd, at 8am at the Alley Pond Park parking lot located at Springfield Blvd and 76th Avenue in Oakland Gardens, N.Y.

We need to expand the area of fliers that have been posted.

Limited items below will be available, if you have, please bring some along:

- Sargeant’s Lost Dog Fliers (please run off copies if you can)

- Maps of areas that need to be covered

- Packing tape

- Staple Gun & Staples

- Leash

- Treats

Hot coffee will be provided for all those kind souls that come to help.

For those out of town volunteers who would like to help, faxing and emailing Sargeant’s Lost Dog flier to businesses in the area, would be GREATLY appreciated!

For more information contact JoAnn at 718-968-5576 or Bonnie at 917-626-1374.

Or email Bonnie at Pawsativebf@aol.com >>

Was there a sigting this morning at 8:45? I'm confused because it says in the next paragraph that there haven't been any sigtings. I live in Rockland County, but I can fax the flier to anyone you need me to if you have a list. Let's find him!

Creator/Shepherd, Your love for the world You have created is reckless and abundant. Thank you that after two years of searching you have helped Mila and the ladies locate Sniffles, who now has a chance at finding a home. Keep all lost ones (people and animals) under your watchful care. Help those who seek You locate Sargeant, and the ever elusive Vivi. Let all of us sleep safely knowing You never sleep. Put all of us on the path that leads to Home and finally to You. May the recovery of these animal companions.deepen our faith in You, no matter what our faith tradition. Uour will be done.
Sharon

Sharon, it is so good to read your calming and soothing prayer. We have missed you, my dear.

Amen for that one Mila!

Betty and Michael have taken wonderful care of us, but there are never enough prayers - and each one is so special....

I love this particular part of your prayers Sharon:

"Let all of us sleep safely knowing You never sleep. Put all of us on the path that leads to Home and finally to You."

I often wonder how a person who has no faith can rest peacefully at night. My grandfather used to tell me if I could lay my head down at night and sleep peacefully, all was well between me, God and the rest of the World. Must be well because I am gone as soon as the head hits the bed it seems!

Good luck to all in the search for Sargeant today. With the sighting call coming in at least a starting point can be established. Does anyone know how far Clearview Golf course is from the original location Sargeant went missing? I will be hoping and praying for good news on that handsome boy.

Any news on the search today for Sargeant?

Any news on Sarge from the search yesterday?

MAYBE THE NEXT TIME YOU NY GALS ARE OUT POSTING FLYERS FOR SARGE, YOU COULD HANG A FEW UP FOR VIVI TOO....THAT WOULD BE SUCH A GOOD THING! WHO KNOWS, MAYBE BOTH VIVI AND SARGE WILL BE FOUND TOGETHER..
XOXXOROOBY

That's a good idea, Rooby. I was thinking the same thing about if a few fliers should be posted in the area Sniffles was found. Someone there might know something.
I just saw the Pedigree commercial about Echo being adopted. What a great way to start the day. Hope we get news soon on the lost pups.

We had a few people turnout to help get and hang flyers two weeks ago. So thank you to the kind people who showed up;. I picked up 5,000 flyers the day before so I have loads of flyers that need hanging and not enough hours or help. But Debbie is the #1 flyer poster - she rocks. Kathy is also a diehard day and night searching and posting and Bonnie has been a great deal of help, with helping me check the shelter so at least 2X week the Brooklyn CACC gets checked. I am tired both physically and emotionally but I will perservere. I am not one to quit, if I quit he doesn't have a chance of making his way home. Thanks to all the other wonder out of towners who are diligently faxing so thanks Jill, Audrey, Mila, Jackie and anyone I may have missed or is quietly behind the scenes checking the websites (Darlene perhaps), as always, from my broken heart I thank you. I received a call from a man who saw a dog at mile marker 1 in Alley Pond Park and thought it was Sargeant. Kathy and I went and it was a loose Sheibu? Uno? not sure on spelling and after giving up all our food brisket, kibbles, and turkey, I thought that she may have belonged to a house around the 100 yrds she kept walking back and forth from and I went into a yard with gate open and she followed me in there and we locked the gate. Sure enough it was their dog and they didn't even realize their dog was missing for almost 4 hours. Collar no tags. Ugh it's frustrating finding and returning a few dogs and why can't it be Sargeant???? He has a wonderful home, love, good dog food and a warm bed to sleep at night. Having stories like Sniffles is encouraging. I received a call from a woman the other day who thought a dog may be Sargeant but no. She was very kind in her words and told me she found a dog after 12 weeks 10 miles from home. So I will look to expand the search and be out posting more tomorrow. I have a book to write "Lessons from Sargeant" and all proceeds go to help animals. This has certainly been a hugh emotional roller coaster you can't get off of. I hope and pray for Sarge and all the other lost and scared animals out there and that they are protected from harm.

I posted this to old link so from last wkend...OK spent about 4+ hours out posting from 73rd Ave all the way to Utopia. Almost every block has a flyer on alternating sides, next to PO boxes, busstops and intersections. Went up Utopia, stopped at Firehouse - cute boys there:-) Guy said Sarge was a beautiful dog...I said yup an he wants to find his way home! Went right onto Horace Harding and posted all along that street almost every block, went into stores, posted in a few places, ie: laundry mat, deli...continued up to the Fresh Meadows theatre area. Posted there and outside FM post office for the 3rd time - signs keep coming down :-((( Went into the area behind Applebees in park lot and posted there and then in front of Applebees, Starbucks - put one in mailbox of fresh meadows rental mgt office - I'm sure they get lots of traffic esp at first of month! Jumped to just north of 495 on service road by deli /busstop and went up 215th and posted in side streets, then right onto 58th ave posted every block there and around cordorsa HS, then up past Queensborough college - posted there a few weeks ago - then went up to E Hampton Road and posted EVERY block there - that road runs along side Alley Pond Park. Circled back to Springfield and then home. Kathy gave me listing of all Catholic schools in area and I'll contact them tom re: their requirement of community service prior to graduation and maybe they can hang some flyers. I have about 4,000 left. Got home had some dinner and stuffed flyers. Going to take a hot shower and off to bed soon. I rented 2 movies this weekend and shocker didn't see either one of them. Thanks again to all!

Kathy S and I were out for almost 4 hrs posting over by Hillside and 214th area until we received a call from a woman who spotted a dog looking like Sargeant with collar and leash was scared but wouldn't let himself get caught. She works for real estate firm and I emailed her to get word out. gotta get to bed to get some sleep.

I'm praying for you! (and sarge, and vivi)
