Here's a real twister on the heartstrings:
Lowell the black Lab was lost during a car accident near Lumberton, N.C., that fatally killed his owner, Stephen True, 61.
His wife, Rose, was hospitalized and released. "All she's asking for now if she could have her black lab back," said a family friend.
Lowell, who is a retired seeing eye dog, is wearing a red collar and tags with the name of his veterinarian, Carole Fulton. He is microchipped.
The 10-year-old Lab might be headed back home to Mt. Pleasant S.C., a distance of almost 170 miles.
Main contact is Dr. Filton: (843) 971-1976; cell -- (843) 412-4461.

Lowell has been FOUND. Don't know his condition or anything else at this time.
As soon as you hear please let us know.
Oh what a sad thing to happen to this lady and her husband. I am so glad to hear at least Lowell is back with her to ease her grief. I pray he is okay. Thanks for letting us know he has been found Margot.
Thank goodness Lowell has been found. He and the man's widow can help each other heal from this tragedy. Once again man's best friend and faithful companion is irreplaceable in the family. When they go missing, their recovery is the most important thing to the family.
Margot, please let us know how Lowell's doing.
I'll try to get more info. I only got a notice from Amber Alert and Lowell's vet that he was found. Will email both of them and see how Lowell is. I'm happy the lady at least got Lowell back.
