Theresa Hoang, the owner of runaway Gracie, sent an email to Team Vivi members thanking them for their help -- from posting fliers to calling veterinarians -- which ultimately made the Italian greyhound's ending a happy one.
"I would like to specially thank all of you for your tremendous help and support" when Gracie was wandering the streets of Brooklyn, she wrote. "I have never seen such a coordinated effort ... I [would love it] if we could meet each other some day."
Meanwhile, as these photos show, Gracie has returned to her life in New Jersey without missing a beat.

That's right, Mila. Tears of happiness. So glad to see Gracie back where she belongs.
I love happy endings, kudos and thanks to Darlene and Team Vivi
OH SHUCKS!!!! She is a doll.... Such doggie kisses her mommy is getting too.
This little girl captured my heart because she reminded me so much (in her face) of my sweet Tinkerbell. So glad she is home and safe. Bless the kind lady Maria who helped by taking her to the vet too. I hope Theresa returns the vet fees to Maria so she can help another poor doggie who is injured again.
I am so happy that Theresa and Gracie and the family are together again. What a joyous reunion.
I'm so happy that Gracie was returned to her owner. Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear news of our Miss Vivi?
Thanks to Team Vivi, Gracie is back home with her family. The pictures are priceless. May this shed light on the search for our canine girl.
I was sad when Newsday changed the photo on the blog link - no more Vivi.
Great news about Gracie - sad that Newsday changed the photo - Loved seeing her little face.
Sarajane and Cherita - I agree we will miss her sweet face on the blog, but we will always carry it in our hearts until we meet her (finally) someday at the Rainbow Bridge, or she decides to come home so we can have that big party with her...
HELLO EVERYONE!!
My heart was so full of happiness!! Gracie is such a sweet little dog that belongs to her rightful owner, Theresa and her family!!
As for Vivi, one day we will see her sweet happy face here at the blog...still hope someone who had her will have courage to return her (Vivi) back to Jil and Rick the same way as you all did with Gracie!
Great job Vivi teams!! Bless you all.
I had no idea Newsday changed the photo and there is no more Vivi...she's still out there! Why would her picture be taken away.......that makes me very sad..

FROM KATHY (C0) - COME ON GIRLS - THE HORSES STILL NEED US!!! DON'T GIVE UP NOW!!!!!
On Sunday August 19, George Stephanopoulos will moderate the 2008 Democratic Presidential Candidates'
Debate. What a perfect time to ask the candidates
position on Senate Bill 311 or House Bill 503 - the
horse slaughter bill. You can email your text
questions but all questions should be sent by Thursday, August 16th at 12am EDT.
Here is the link to the article about the debate.
http://ugv.abcnews.go.com/category.aspx?uid=366803&r=1&c=5
If you need a sample of what to send in, here is what I sent in:
What is your position on S 311, the Horse Slaughter Protection Act? Would you support this legislation?
Please indicate whether or not you have co-sponsored this bill, and if you have not, please explain why you continue to refrain from supporting this bill?
Are you aware that the meat exported from U.S. horses contains numerous drugs that are harmful for human consumption? Does this affect your opinion regarding whether horse slaughter should continue in the United States?
Obviously, you can all formulate your own thoughts from your expertise and knowledge, but just make sure it's in the form of a question that isn't too wordy and drawn-out or they might discard it. Let's all try this and see if we can put some pressure on these candidates to talk about this issue!! It's definitely worth a shot!! There is strength in numbers!
Thanks,
Kathy in Colorado

POSSIBLE VIVI SIGHTING MONDAY NIGHT AT 7:00 P.M.*******
Kathy from Bayside has been in contact with the gentleman who spotted her and after sending the line-up, he stated the dog did look like our little vixen. we have already begun faxing everywhere she was spotted and beyond. Team Vivi NYC is preparing to saddle up and head out again on yet another Vivi escapade. :) for those of you who would like to fax or email locations, she was spotted again in Flushing going Westbound Northern Blvd. under the Van Wyke Expy. - the outskirts of Flushing Meadow Park - again. we, Jackie, in particular, could use anyone who has a fax machine to help fax Vivi's flyer. there are ton of businesses there. No one knows definitively that it IS her, but it seems like her stomping grounds and description. so, pray hard - maybe this summer she will decide that she's had enough of the Big Apple. YAHOO!!!!!!
Rosa, it's time to say your famous saying, my friend!!!!!!!
Rosa - get your chocolate fountain flowing again.
Maybe this will be it!
More on Vick. Looks like we may get rid of him but interesting that the bigger crime in sports is gambling. Kind of like getting rid of the mafia with tax evasion charges.
Gambling may end Vick's career
Posted: Wednesday August 15, 2007 06:44AM ET
The assertion that Michael Vick gambled on dogfighting appears to be a more serious threat to his professional football career and freedom than the federal felony charges that he helped organize and run a dogfighting ring. Federal prosecutors are preparing a new set of indictments in the case against Vick. The charges are believed to include counts stemming from gambling that he is suspected of having financed. That is one reason Vick's lawyers are considering a guilty plea that would avoid a new indictment. Whether or not Vick pleads guilty, his suspected connection to gambling could jeopardize his football career.
well, isn't that lovely?? GAMBLING will jeoparize it - not animal abuse. IDIOTS - ALL OF THEM!!!!!
DARLENE - Very happy for those babies in GA. Also, EXTREMELY HAPPY to see a possible sighting of our girl!
ROOOBY - Go back and read my post again. I was NOT trying to say Vivi is dead and at the Rainbow Bridge. I meant if we do not get to meet her here on this Earth, we will certainly meet her at the Rainbow Bridge someday (NOT NOW, BUT SOMEDAY).
Roooby, put up that Vanilla Vodka woman ... it is getting to you! Time for chocolate now....
I probably did not make myself very clear in my post. I am functioning with a half brain these days while on a very strong antibiotic and pain meds. This diabetic has a severe infection in her left leg I am fighting. Please say a prayer for me, don't want to lose this old leg for sure...
Yippee - A Vivi sighting. I can hardly believe my eyes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it's true. Oh Vivi please please come home!
Yippee - A Vivi sighting. I can hardly believe my eyes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it's true. Oh Vivi please please come home!
Jackie, I have a fax machine and can also fax from the computer. Let me know which flyer is going out and a list of where to fax. I did it before. Hooray!!! I knew she was out there. Kathleen, please take care of that leg and do what you have to do to get better. I think we all could use that chocolate fountain.
Kathleen, please take care of your leg and do get better soon. Rosa, where is your famous cheer? We need it right now.
In professional sports gambling is like a capital crime. It is the one thing that can get them a lifetime ban from their sport. I think that is why they are filing those charges next, to put pressure on Vick. However, if they don't file those charges I wonder if that will give him an opening to come back. Well, after he gets out of JAIL.
Pete Rose got banned from baseball because of gambling. I hope Vick will get the same sentence.
JACKIE /DARLENE: I will put the possible Vivi sighting and location on K9 Amber Alert and hope they send it out. Don't know if they do possible sightings. Having Company this week-end but if you email me 10 faxes or email addresses I will take care of it. Maybe another miracle will happen.
VIVA LA VIVI!!!!!
THERE IT is DARLENE! SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!
PRAYING HARD THIS IS OUR GRIL AND ITS HER TURN TO BE RESCUED!
PAM: I am dusting off the FOUNTAIN, THIS is reason to CELEBRATE!

Vivi only has 61 candles. PLease if you have a couple minutes light a candle for her to be located and resuced.
IT JUST HAS TO BE VIVI's time to come in from the streets and be loved and cared for again.

SHE has brought us all together and because of her there have been countless other dogs, cats and Horses rescued. PRAYING REAL HARD THIS IS OUR GIRL!
I LOVE YOU VIVI!
AMEN....
Rosa, don't forget the people she has helped also. The support of the Vivi people has meant the world to Gina and little Madison.
YES, it is time for Vivi to come home.
Don't worry about my leg folks, with this heavy duty antibiotic I cannot see it getting anything but better - it just makes me feel like hell and dizzy taking it though. Got to get well for that Vivi party coming soon .... Maybe Vivi is looking forward to seeing Montana!
Seems like old times. Just did a lot of faxing for our Vivi. Please God bring her safely home to Team Vivi and Jill and Rick.Going to light more candles.
What a wonderful way to end the day?
I sure do hope this is our little girl...
VIVI - Time for you to come home.....................
Yesssssssssss Vivi! I'm so happy I cried, again...
I'm praying as hard as I can for her rescue.
KathleenSSSSS, I didn't think you said vivi was dead, I just felt bad about the Rainbow Bridge thing. I don't like thinking of her in that context......
The bottle will NOT be put down or away so buy one of your own and have a little slurp in honor of the very possible sighting...Pray as hard as you can woman and leave my addiction alone...heh heh
I have seen Vick referred to as ICK....I love it! Ickkkkkk he is for sure...About to go to jail/prison and still as cocky as a bantam rooster.
His time will come! Gambling or not, people are disgusted with his part in the horrible pit fighting...Once again I'll use one of Darlene's words when I think o ICK::::: SCUM!
KathleenSsssss,
I didn't see the leg thing until just now..I hope you get well soon...No vaniller vodka until you are off the meds...If I could, I'd send you a bottle of the nectar. Get well!
I faxed the list sent to me tonight and ready to do more. I lit candles for our canine girl and pray that she shows her pretty face to Team Vivi. I'm with you gals in spirit as you search. Has this sighting been cross posted so more eyes can be out there?

I don't know if you guys read this article or not. Here is a sad story with a happy ending
http://www.cbs46.com/news/13899018/detail.html
What is wrong with people in GA and their issue with pit bulls. As I alwats say, I have the bullets
I never come asking for anything, but this time I feel compelled to do so. This article was on the Barbaro blog and I know everyone including myself is
currently tapped out, but if you could find it in you heart to give just a dollar or two for this little guy, I would be ever so grateful. Her is
his story.
Hello all. You may remember me from postings requesting help for two wonderful dogs, Jess and Leo, from Puerto Rico. Thanks to many people who
have beautiful hearts, both those boys are - literally - living in luxury and have fantastic forever homes in which to love and be loved. Now
there is a new little guy in need. His name is Thor. As you may recall, Hands for Paws (the rescue group I work with), rescues dogs from a particular
beach area in Puerto Rico where animals are continually dumped off and routinely abused. I won't go into details but the dumpings are very frequent and the abuse runs from poisoning and shooting to things too horrible to describe here. Thor is one of the "lucky" ones who was taken off the beach by Amigos de los Animales, another rescue group in Puerto Rico. He is an adorable little Chow mix with a sparkling personality and the ability to snuggle like no dog I've ever met before. He has a broken arm, however, that needs to be repaired before he can be adopted. His left humerus (the bone in the upper arm) was broken just above the condyle (ball that fits into the elbow joint)
of the elbow. It's a bad break and has had months to try to heal. The options are leave it alone, amputate it, repair it, fuse it. We've ruled out
the first 3 options so we're going to have the humeral and ulnal bones joined. I'm hoping the compassionate and generous individuals on this
forum can help us pay for his surgery. The surgery plus x-rays, medications, boarding,... will cost an estimated $2,200. That's a huge chunk of change
since we're already in debt about $4,000 with vet and boarding bills in Puerto Rico at present. Do you think there would be enough people out there
to pitch in $25 or so that could cover the surgery costs? Donations can be made at www.manosporpatas.org or www.handsforpaws.org either with Paypal, credit card, or sent to the address on the site. You can mark that your
donation go to Thor's Surgery fund (or you can email me at ginny@manosporpatas.org with your name and donation amount and that request). We are a non-profit tax-exempt organization. The earliest the
vet can do the surgery is Tuesday 8/21 so I need to know soon if this will be possible. He's such a wonderful little dog and he deserves all the best
in life. I hope to hear great things from all of you. Best, Ginny (and Thor)
Betty and Michael - Thank you so much for your beautiful prayers. I am sitting here crying after reading the prayer for me last night. I really, really appreciate it. I think it is looking better today, but will still be making that appointment with my doctor today. I'll let you all know what I find out. Hope I do not have to go to the hospital. I just cannot leave my babies right now.
B-J - If you are out there, is there any way to get pictures and descriptions (names and maybe words they spoke) of all the birds stolen. I would love to send out posters on the internet to all the bird purchasing people. Also, I would like to monitor sites selling birds to see if any of these babies might show up. Thanks B-J.
Praying for Vivi and praying for all the others and our horses. Please pray Cavel will be shut down soon at least.
Love Kathleen (you are all so wonderful!)
Hi Everyone,
I need some reassurance right now with a situation. I was on my lunchbreak taking my husband to his job. He works on an industrial street but there are a few houses on it, but the people are very rude and slummy. Well, today while dropping my husband off I noticed a cocker spaniel pup (approx. 8-9 mos. old) wandering along side the road with a leash attached. I immediately stopped the car, took the dog with leash and started asking anyone out there if it was their dog. One of the workers in a building said that it belonged to the people across the street and that they always leave the dog outside to wander and it's really unsafe. He told me to please take the dog to the animal shelter so it won't get killed on the street. So I loaded her up (she started to whine and it broke my heart) and I took her to the animal shelter where I live. I am so upset that I had to do this because she started to cry. I know I did the right thing but still it really upsets me to see the dog uncared for. My husband had said that he noticed the dog wandering all the time but didn't think anything of it. After reminding him how dangerous that was he said I did the right thing. I know I did but how come I feel so bad. I know the owners will probably go bolistic when they find out but I had to do it.
Laura
I wonder how long it will take them to even realize their dog is missing?
How will they know where their dog is, did you leave a note on their door?
Is the shelter in your area a no kill shelter? Isn't there anyone you could give her to?
Oh!! Cocker's are my babies. Laura where do you live??? I hate putting dogs in a shelter, even no-kill, too noisy for a scared pup. We have got to get him out. I'm in Westchester County, New York.
yea, Laura - where are you, my dear????
B-J - If you are out there, is there any way to get pictures and descriptions (names and maybe words they spoke) of all the birds stolen. I would love to send out posters on the internet to all the bird purchasing people. Also, I would like to monitor sites selling birds to see if any of these babies might show up. Thanks B-J.
Kathleen; These bird were babies. The greys probably don't say anything yet. The Amazons may be saying hello and a word or to but not much. The others unlikely. They all would have bands identifying the breeder, stste they were bred in and the ID number. I am sure this would have been given to the police. I offered my assistance but these birds have likely been taken out of state immediately being it was a pretty professional job. If they remain in the state they will likely be caught. You are welcome to call Marc at POW and offer assistance in this way. I doubt we will come accross these birds but one never knows so please everyone keep those eyes and ears open.
Laura if the Cocker had ID on they will contact the owner.
Last year Rosa had a similiar experience with Duke/Murphy if you remember. After finding the dog a few days in a row she inquired and took the dog to it's owner and asked why it was running all the time. She had a poodle in the house. Duke is a Lab and he was kept in a cage outdoors in the elements. Sometimes he got out and she couldn't get him. She was trying to care for Duke but he was too big and she feared he would hurt the poodle and she worked all day. So Rosa left her number saying we could get Duke a good home if she felt she couldn't handle it. She did call the next week and well Duke is well loved and cared for now. This is for future reference if needed. You could leave a note in the mailbox like Kathleen asked and even offer assistance with the dog. Sometimes peopel just need to e educated. Sometime you can't. But you did the right thing by getting the dog off the streets. Sometimes we have to but following the dog up is important so he/she doesn't wind up being put down. We need to do right by this dog.
Laura - Regina is familiar with rescue - ALOT. she and I will try to help you. hang on to him and make sure he is safe - that's first and foremost. any shelter or vet will take you that if he is let loose like that, it is not a fit life for him. also, if you are in long island, it is also illegal. so, with that, we can try to help :) he sounds adorable!!!!!
Darleen I believe Laura took him to the shelter near her, he has to get out of there no matter how good the shelter may be.
Laura can you get him back? Please let us know where you are and what shelter he is in.
Those people should not get their dog back - they are dog abusers - letting that poor baby wander around dragging a leash - shame on them.
I had contacted Best Friends about the Mason County Shelter. They e-mailed me back and said they're working with them and have an extension. Best Friends said there are 18 dogs left at the time the message came to me.
Laura, you did the right thing. I have a cocker and they are near and dear to my heart. They are not the type of dog that can be left to wander. These babies need people. Is there a cockerspaniel rescue in up in that part of CT?
Hi Everyone,
I just got back from work and read the blog. I had to take her to the nearby shelter due to the fact that I had nowhere to go with her as I have 2 old dogs at home and they would never stand still for another dog on their turf. (They bark and bark until they get sick). Also, when I first encountered this pup in the street I got out of my car, took her by the leash and asked whoever was outside if they knew where she belonged. The neighbors and a worker told me where she lived and I knocked on the door and no one was home. She was just left outside to fend for herself. These people I talked to also told me that this is an everyday thing that they do to this dog and they were begging me to take her. I didn't know what else to do and I knew of no one that could take her. I live in West Haven,Connecticut and that is where this pup is at the West Haven Animal Shelter. I will be following up on her daily to make sure she's okay. Any suggestions on how to handle to this would be appreciated.
Laura I have e-mailed a girl who does rescue too and she has a dog she adopted from the West Haven shelter. I want to find out if she has any contacts there that can tell us what will happen to this pup and if they will bother to give it back to the owners if they come looking for it. PLEASE get in touch with them tomorrow if you can and give me an update. Maybe we can get him out of there and into a foster home. I live in White Plains in Westchester and know West Haven, you are not that far away from me, maybe an hour or less.
Regina,
Thank you so much for this info. I will definitely be checking up on this little girl tomorrow. I will definitely stress to this shelter that giving her back to the owners probably would not be in her best interest. But I don't know how that works. This dog was so precious I would take her in a heartbeat if I didn't have my two. She seemed very timid and scared and that's what really broke my heart. I will keep in touch via this blog or you can e-mail me at wessle103@aol.com
Thanks again,
Laura
Seems to be that these people we hoping someone would do what you did. Damn, they even left the leash on for someone to take her. How obvious is that! They might as well have packed a bag with a bowl and cookies in it too!!
You know Kathy I thought the same thing. Even when I brought this dog to the shelter the person asked me if it was my personal leash and when I said no it was on the dog she looked at me with this look like she thought the same thing. How sad. I'm gonna make sure she's okay. The shelter person told me that they run an ad for 7-10 days and if the owner doesn't come get her she'll be up for adoption. They were all over her when she came in because she is a little cutie. Hoping for a happy ending. I'm just sitting here and can't stop welling up with tears everytime I think of her.
that's disgusting!!!!! Laura/Regina - i will help with a rescue if you need me too!!! a baby cocker will be a quick turnaround :) mine is 16 and i fell for her the minute i saw her.
AND WE ARE ON A ROLL, MY DARLINGS!!!!! KELLY EMAILED US - BETTY BOOP (THE BLACK PITTY) AND BIANCA (THE WHITE,BLUE EYED DEAF PITTY) HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!!! BIANCA HAS AN ELDERLY "GUIDE DOG" FROM KELLY'S WHO HELPS HER ALONG - BASICALLY SHOWING HER WHERE TO GO AND WHEN TO BARK. THEY ARE IN LOVE AND BECAUSE OF THAT, THEY BOTH WENT TOGETHER :) HOW COOL IS THAT FOR A STORY???
Darlene I am so happy for them. YES...this is so cool and a great happy story.
Laura I know your little Cocker Spaniel will get the help she needs to go to a good home with you keeping tabs on her and we will help in any way we can. Just make sure you callevery day to remind them and viviting is a plus also. I have a Cocker here also who may need ahome. She's a sweet heart also.
ugh! really I usually catch this but ever since Vivi I keep spelling Visiting Viviting. Shows she's always in my head.
I had a obviously purebred cocker show up at my house a couple of years ago. He was clearly worried and refused to "go home". I looked for his owners but it was pretty clear he was dumped on my gravel road "because dogs belong in the country" - this happens all the time - He was at that age people get rid of puppies, about 12 months or so, had fleas and you could see the impression his collar made- they took it off right before they threw him out of the car. After I ran an ad and looked for any sign people were looking for him, I called the local cocker rescue, called Oldies but Goodies. We called him Rufus. They not only took him but had me take him to my vet (they would have done it but I volunteered), paid for him to be vetted, microchipped and neutered and then picked him up. They updated me three times about his life. First where he was fostered, then about his permanent family- he was sharing a bed with an 11 year old girl in a family who had just lost their old cocker. Then they emailed to say they had been transfered to Orlando, Florida.
Just telling this story to illustrate how/why if you find a purebred dog or even an obvious cross, checking to see if there is a rescue for that breed in the area is a good way to go.
BJ, I always automatically put a v after any word that begins with vi too...

Summer is moving right along and soon the kids will all be back in school. I'm anxious to get Madison in school to see if her teachers notice a difference in her. Currently, I have one of my best friends here visiting from San Diego, CA. This is the same friend who spent a week with me in the hospital in San Antonio. She hadn't seen Madison in person since that time (2 months after the accident) so I was very anxious for her to see her again. The visit has been amazing. Seeing Madison e
