Biscuits Against AB 1634

AB 1634 -- the  "California Healthy Pets Act" opposed by many hobby breeders, working-dog groups and rare-breed fanciers because it would require mandatory spay/neuter of all cats and dogs by four months of age -- squeaked by in the California State Assembly this week.

Now it goes on to the state senate.

As a protest against the controversial bill, a new campaign called Biscuits for AB 1634 encourages opponents  to send boxes of dog biscuits to California legislators. (The inspiration, apparently, were the fans of the TV show "Jericho," whose shipments of tons of peanuts to CBS caused the network to rethink its cancellation -- and plead for a mortatorium on nut shipments.)

Also on the hot seat: State assemblywomen Betty Karnette and Laura Richardson, who had assured the American Kennel Club and the city of Long Beach -- where the AKC's Invitational dog show is estimated to bring in $65 million in tourism through 2014 -- that they would abstain from voting on the bill. Apparently, at the last minute, the two had a change of heart and provided the swing votes needed for the bill to squeak through the assembly.

Drumbeaters are  urging all of the AKC's 160-odd breed clubs to send letters demanding that the show be moved out of California, and, barring that, urging its members not to participate.

Milk-Bone, anyone?

At Cavel slaughterhouse, they have been slaughtering horses since 5 a.m. We have a person on the ground there, who says the screams are unbearable. At least one truckload was full of yearlings -- not even one year old. Please call your senators/representatives and ask them to sponsor S311 (Senate) and HR 503 (House) to ban the slaughter of horses. It won't end unless you get involved.

Please take a moment and call or fax for the horses. Here is today's call in strategy:

http://www.timwoolleyracing.com/wiki/index.php/Horse_slaughter#Current_Strategy

STRATEGY FOR TUESDAY JUNE 12

As you all know by now, these bills will NOT move forward without the appropriate number of cosponsors. The numbers they are looking for are 218 in the House (currently have 161 officially) and 60 in the Senate (we currently have 27 officially). However, we have been informed that Senator Whitehouse (RI) has signed on.

Without the federal legislation passed, we will NEVER end the slaughter of American horses! We must put a stop to the slaughter and the transportation of our horses to slaughter in Mexico and Canada. And we must insure that another slaughter house never opens on American soil. While we eagerly await the June 14 hearing regarding Cavel, we must push with all we have to end this once and for all by getting S311/HR503 passed into law!

We will be targeting strategic members of both the House and the Senate this week. Please make the calls and help save our horses.
Tuesday June 12th.

Beth ---- it is so terrible --- even though I am in a different state - I can still hear those awful screams from the horses ----- to be butchered alive ----WE MUST GET THIS STOPPED ---- PEOPLE CALL AND KEEP CALLING.

they are killing babies now......and the screams are unbearable to our person on the ground there. She is recording this -- the plant manager stepped outside and is covered in blood.....blood of our precious horses.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR CALLS OR FAXES NOW There are trucks lined up full of our horses. Can you imagine the horses in the trucks hearing the screams of others......

Elizabeth and Kathy - I know this is upsetting, but I am going to have to leave the blog if we do not stop some of the graphic details. I just cannot handle it right now. Please, I will not be able to get these images and sound out of my mind now.

Thank you for caring, and I do too. But right now I cannot handle it emotionally at all.

I want to help by coming here and seeing what needs to be done, but I cannot continue to do so if I read things so upsetting on here.

Love Kathleen and the Memphis Mob

Yep, stop with the graphic details. It's not helping the cause. We know about all of it so just post who you want us to write to or call.

BETH, your post was the worst ever!

Elizabeth and Kathy - please do not do this. You are driving people away from helping with the horses. Being graphic is uncalled for, and before you blast me, I work with horse rescue and have long before you ever started; long before the TWR site, so I think I know a thing or two about how to educate people and interest them to help. This is a graphic, and cruel subject which needs to be approached with each person's tolerance level in mind. If you wish to use this type of approach then I know I am speaking for others in rescue as well in asking you to not do this on a public forum where you are well aware that you driving others away. This is not the TWR site where this subject can be spoken about without censor.

I don't get angry very often, but you are seriously not helping the horses or the rescues with your approach - you are forcing people to look in the opposite direction, and that makes me angry as these are issues very near and dear to my heart, at which I work very ahrd. There will come a day when we as rescues will desperately need help, and no one will be there to help us as we will no longer have any legitimacy - they will all have been driven away by the ones of you who use the tactics of the old time evangelists.

This I expected from Beth, but Kathy I am truly surprised at you chiming in. You have been asked to only provide links, and to warn if they are graphic. Please have some consideration for those who do not have the same tolerance level you do.

There is a group of people going to Washington DC on 6/19 & 6/20 to demonstrate in favor of S.311/HR 503 ban on horse slaughter and I am asking everyone here to take just a minute out of their day today to copy, sign and mail the attached letter to Angela Valianos, 1526 Woodland Trail, Sycamore, IL 60178

I wish to request your co sponsorship for the pending legislation, S.311/HR 503 to ban horse slaughter for human consumption. Polls consistently show that over 70% of Americans are opposed to horse slaughter. Allow me to mention a few of the reasons that I want you to help us put an end to America's "dirty little secret!"

The assertion that the horses being slaughtered will be at risk of abuse and neglect if slaughter ends is a complete falsehood. History shows that abuse and neglect are not related to horse slaughter in any way. Horses do not cause abuse and neglect, bad owners do. And slaughter brings the worst elements of humanity into the horse owning community. History tells us that stopping horse slaughter will in fact help us deal with the problem of abuse and neglect.

Before being hung for bleed out and butchering, horses are first "stunned" to yield them unconscious. The stunning itself is done with a captive bolt gun which is difficult to position correctly in the best of circumstances. Horses are routinely exposed to multiple strikes from the gun and to live butchering. The slaughter process for horses is thus totally inhumane.

There is also the issue of transport. The inhumane treatment of the slaughter horse begins with its transportation. Horses are crammed into trailers with ceilings often so low that they must ride in an unnatural posture. Many horses endure these conditions of more than a day without food or water. The whole process of horse slaughter is inhumane and transport is one of its most glaring examples.

I hope that I have helped you understand the urgency of stopping this cruel assault on our horses. I realize that there are many important issues at hand, but the time has come to end this travesty. I look forward to thanking you for your co sponsorship of this worthy legislation.

Most Sincerely,

Please forward this request on to just 4 - 5 people you know, asking them to do the same. Angela needs all the letters she can get to present in Washington.

Thank you in advance for doing this for the horses.

I am sorry if I offended or upset anyone ---- I have posted the links --- you all know that they calls need to be made. You will no longer see me post on this blog.

Kathy - That is definitely NOT what I am asking for. You are a dear, and your love for helping these animals shines through so sweet and sincere. I can see the love you have developed for these beautiful creatures in your posts on Tim Wooley.

I would never have become involved in helping without your guidance. We NEED your guidance, just try to limit it to things that do not tear at the hearts of those of us upset by the issues. I know the whole thing is horrid, but I do not want to know all the details - just cannot handle them.

Hope you will change your mind. I will be very disappointed if you do not. I KNOW I will not go to the Tim Wooley site to read, it would be more upsetting than here. I need for you to give us the information on here, and let us help PLEASE!

From one Mackenzie grandma to another Mackenzie grandma!

I 2nd that KathleenSssss...My only objection is the graphic details of some of the posts. It's been mentioned before. We don't need the gore.

Leaving the blog would serve no purpose Kathy-Co.
The horses need your output. Not all of us go into the Tim Woolyey forum..I did once.

These girls have done absolutely everything you have asked – you asked for faxes, they faxed; you asked for money, they donated; everything you have asked, and they have only asked for one thing in return. By not giving them that one courtesy, yet continuing to ask for their support, you are showing them complete and total disrespect. Why should they want to continue to support you?

Please just think about that the next time you ask them to do something or to give money. This is one of my greatest fears about the horse issue. We have been fighting this for years, and now that it is becoming more public - which is a good thing –there are people getting turned off by the approach and they are turning away from the cause because they cannot handle the cruelty and graphic nature. Each person on the face of this earth has a tolerance level – then they have to walk away. We each have a role to fill in this, and each person needs to find their own niche. If they agree it is wrong, and agree to help us, then I think we should respect that they know their own tolerance and that we should not push them away.

There have been many, many requests on this blog to NOT post graphic details – to provide a link should someone want to read more. This is an incredible group of women. They WILL support these causes, but we need to respect them.

A quiet and kind reminder to Kathy would have been sufficient regarding posting graphic details. She has been a rock on this blog and now she is gone. Please come back, Kathy. We need you.

Mila - I was trying very hard to sound kind in the way I worded it. I sincerely apologize if my post came out the wrong way. I would never mean to hurt Kathy's feelings - I think the world of her and all the others on this blog.

Kathy, please accept my apology. I promise you, I meant no harm. I was just so upset by the thought of these images and sounds that perhaps I posted before I thought. I am truly sorry to have hurt your feelings.

We want so horribly to stop this injustice just as you do. We need to all work together, but just realize some do have a lower tolerance like Jill said.

I even e-mailed Darlene to warn her not to read the description because I knew if I was upset by the thought, she would be devastated. You know, Missy Tenderheart is a lion with the heart of a lamb. Yes you Darlene! Darlene, my grandfather would have loved you - he was a lion with the heart of a lamb too!

So come on Kathy, let these lions roar and help, just remember their lamb hearts too ... you have one also!

I will phone, fax or write letters, whatever it takes to help these horses. But I will probably have nightmares now that I have read this. I'm sorry but I can not stand to hear the details of the suffering.

C'mon Kathy. Come back here. Who is going to post the strategy of the day for S311? This bill is going to fail if we all don't help and our horses will suffer once again. S311 needs 60 cosponsers and right now there are only 28.It is imperative to get on these Senators cases and ask them to cosponser. I dread the thought if 60 of them aren't on board.
The cut/paste/print/send-to-Angela campaign is a great idea.I'm going to get as many signed and sent out to Angela before she leaves for DC on the 19th.I've been printing tons of them.
I also tweaked the letter with a more personal slant to my own senators, Hillary and her buddy Chuckles Schumer. Hillary cosponsered last year but decided not to this year. Since she is running for pres, I think everyone should contact her and ask to to cosponser whether you are her constituent or not.Feel free to drop her a line. Thanks.

Kathy, Please don't leave us. Because of you, there are many more involved in getting horse slaughter banned here once and for all. I have called and e-mailed legislators and joined my state group because you made us aware of this horrible fate many horses face. I e-mailed angela a signed letter for her to have in D.C. We're on your side.

I was very upset all night last night about the horse slaughter situation, and the situation on this blog as well. I hardly slept at all, yet had to drag my "you know what" to work this morning for one of my busiest days - Wednesdays.

On my way home, I cried and literally begged God out loud to do something about this horror that is occurring in our own country. As Kay mentioned, I also had nightmares about this horror as well.

After much consideration, I decided it was time to leave the blog in hopes that Kathy (CO) will come back to help with this fight. And yes, "We're on your side" - and that DOES include ME. I hope for one second no one would think otherwise.

Someone please talk to Kathy (CO) about returning to help, and let her know I will no longer be on the blog. We need the info posted to not lose sight of these goals which MUST be obtained - and fast.

As for me, I am retiring from animal rescue. It is just too much heartbreak I am feeling lately.

I will be praying very hard for something to occur to stop all of this though. There are many animals in my own area I can watch for and help - and my heart will always be there.

In the immortal words of Rodney King:

"C'mon now people ... can't we all just get along?"

Hey what happened. I did not like to read a bout
the horses either, but I just scrolled on by.,
Kathy h as done tons of good work, as well as
Kathleen. Lets all play nice in the sandbox, and
get back to the work at hand - saving animals

URGENT TRANSPORT FROM
STEGER, IL - TOLEDO, OH - DUBLIN, OH
SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2007

This transport will be for ROXY, a female 2-year old Boxer/Pit Bull mix who is going from a kill shelter (now being boarded) in Steger, IL to her new rescue in Dublin, OH and PRINCESS, a 1 year old Am-Staff, who is going to her new Rescue in Colton, OH. Roxy and Princess both need to get from boarding to their new rescues.

JUST FYI: There have been some robberies of transporters while they are transferring dogs. Purses have been taken from cars while the transporter is doing things with the dogs. When you get out of your car, lock it and only have the door with which you are working with the dogs open. Be aware of your surroundings. We don’t want anything to happen to our transporters or our dogs. Dogs have been stolen while transporters are walking other dogs. I am not trying to scare anyone, I just want everyone to be safe.
For this reason, we will only put the meeting places on the FINAL RUN SHEET. You may change them if you wish.

10 minutes will be allowed between transfers for potty breaks, watering and loving Princess and Roxy. Please make sure you have paper towels, newspaper, water bowl and water. Feel free to take pictures of ROXIE and PRINCESS for all to see. This transport will be monitored. Please do not forget to transfer not only the dog but also the paperwork.

THANKS EVERYONE WHO HELPED THESE BABIES. TINKERBELL, ONNIE, KATHLEEN AND BO SAY A JOB WELL DONE!

Are you referring to the case where the transporter (maybe even the dog show handler) said someone broke in his vehicle and stole all of the puppies and dogs going to show? He was at a rest stop. I think it came out that the handler was the thief. I'm not sure but I believe I read about it again on MSNBC. I'll try to find the article and post a link.

AGH!!!!!! i wasn't coming onto this link andi just scrolled all the way down - I SAW THE COMMENT!!!! isn't it grand, girls??? 8 Pitties in just 2 days aer going to rescues and are loved. the GA. babies are breathtaking after what they have been through!! if anyone would like to see pictures, llet me know - i would love to show the 4 Amigo's (Angel, Margherita, Antonio, and JOSE) off!!! One was gonna be Miguel but we are saving that one for now. the little girl Pit that was attacked in GA is still at the shelter and rescue will be working on her tomorrow. i am keeping in constant contact with Jayne and Michelle about her - her name (courtesy of me again) is Dollface. even with stitches all over her pretty face, she is still stunning in my eyes. :)

this is like a ghost town now.....
DON'T MAKE ME MAD!!!! we are a friggin team here - get it together and move on. you want the babies to suffer as we all go our seperate ways? Dust off and let's all help the animals today. they are depending on us!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

Hi Everyone - first of all, I don't want to be one of those that say "I'm leaving" and then come back......that is not my intentions. I truly decided to leave as I do not want my bad name associated with the horses and their potential help from this blog. I apologize AGAIN for causing any of you any discomfort with what I posted. I had just read of what was going on and I guess I needed to share.

Jill --- you are right - these girls have done everything I have asked - why would they do for me again after being disrespectful of their wishes and posting what I did. Because of that, I can no longer have my name associated with the welfare of the horses and the anti-slaughter campaign - it is not fair to them. Each posting I would make would be a reminder to all of you of what I wrote and those memories would come back.

The daily call in list is listed daily at http://www.timwoolleyracing.com/wiki/index.php/Horse_slaughter#Current_Strategy you can go there and read what the strategy is for the day --- there is nothing graphic posted there so you do not have to worry about that.

I pray that you all will continue to do what you can to get these bills co-sponsored and passed. I await the day when these bills are passed and our precious little Vivi is found.

Thank you for all your support in the past, through my loss of Bowdee, for your prayers and your candles. I have treasured your friendship more than you know.

Kathy, we need you to keep us informed and I for one would not keep remembering your posts. I don't for anyone and I don't think others do. There is too much to be done to waste time on that stuff. I did the callings today and I was told the Rep from NY Nydia Valazquez has co-sponsored the bill. We are making progress.

Kathy in Co: I have enjoyed your strong faith and desire to help the horses and I don't understand now why one can't just go okay - sorry - and keep on helping here with what you care so much about. Are your hurt feelings the most important and most compelling reason to now stop? That's being really selfcentered. So just get over it girl and be an adult and come back and post about the horses. Laugh at yourself, nothing wrong with your passion, and the slip of being graphic. Everyone loves you and the horses too. The horses surely don't care that the Vivi Blog doesn't like graphic details - all they want to do is live and be rescued.

Kathy The details did upset me. But I will get over it. Please continue to post what we need to do. The horses matter and need our help. We all have to work together to get this done.

Amen Kay - I was upset over the details but I'm over it. You were probably caught up in the moment when you were posting, Kathy. Heck, we are human. None of us are perfect. We need you Kathy to keep up the horse crusade. The horses need you, too.

I sincerely appreciate your wanting me to return to this blog, however - as far as "Aw Come On Now" - I sincerely have NO HURT FEELINGS that are more important and I was not trying to be self-centered. I was merely trying to be respectful of those on this blog - Why do you even think like that ---- as far as being an adult --- ??????? try signing your own name - now that is being adult. I simply did not want to drive people away from the horse rescue effort as I was accused or to be further accused of certain things that were written to me.

Apparently this has gotten blown way out of prespective...I appreciate all of you wanting me to continue to post about the horses. I will try to remain considerate and post when necessary; however, I must admit, I will be more reserved.

Kathy (CO) - I sure hope you will come back to the blog. What I do with animal rescue now I have learned to do on my computer by myself a lot, but the fight for these horses cannot be done that way. This is a HUGE fight, and it requires public attention and reaching out - which you are excellent at doing.

You are a leader in this cause, and that is what you should be. I prefer to be a follower myself! I will promise to continue to help and follow, if you will come back and lead.

And you are wrong about people following you. Everyone knows your heart is sincere for this cause just as theirs is. They WILL follow you, and they WILL help you, and they WILL get the job done. One always respects people who are sincere and set an example as you have done with these horses. I have seen on Tim Wooley what you do very much before and I know how sincere you are.

I can understand now what was happening. I believe you were so horrified and shocked, that you felt you had to share your feelings with us. I felt the same way. I had to literally almost "bite my tongue" to keep from sharing this with my co-workers and friends. I wanted so badly to talk about it with my mother, but I knew she could not handle it. Then I wanted to discuss with my best friend Ann, but she just lost her mother and didn't need anything else upsetting. So like I said before, I just had a very serious talk with God in my car last night on the expressway (bet everyone was wondering what was wrong with that crazy old Southern broad talking to herself and crying so hard - Roooby are you there laughing just imagining this sight - hee, hee????!) It was such a horrible thing and such an injustice, that I wanted to scream it out loud and make people listen and do something. I think that statement in the letter from Meri-Lou said it all: America's "dirty little secret." I think you were trying to get this "dirty little secret" out in your way.

Personally, I think it is time for some graphic pictures and sound to be recorded and shared with these legislative people. They need to know just what they are voting for. First copy should go to the Judge who allowed Cavel to reopen. Maybe they would be affected as we all have.

Enough said, I DID come back to post after I said I was leaving. I wanted you to know how much I want this work pursued. Putting a stop to this once and for all is the ONLY way we will all forget these images and sleep well at night. And this will not happen without all of us working as the DAMN GOOD TEAM WE ARE (please don't block me, Denise)!

Soapbox time over!

Trust you all to be totally lame. Just like you. Good thing we aren't counting on any of you to get this legislation passed. That would be just like counting on you to find Vivi. Worthless.

Beth - is this directed at me? If so, I am totally appalled - I have worked with you on fund raising at the TWR site --- if you are directing it to the others on this blog --- shame on you!!! They have done everything I have asked as far as donating, writing, calling, faxing. Why???

Surely not totally lame and worthless.

I love it. You can't HANDLE the graphic details. Do you think the horses can handle it? They have no choice. You have the option of looking away, as you always do. The horses cannot just "look away" and we owe it to them to witness what is happening. You all are just pieces of work. Fortunately, in my group of callers I have strong, brave and fearless individuals who can handle the bad news, because let me tell you . . . . you haven't even heard the half of it. You get the watered down version that you can "handle." I have no respect for you people. And then the way you treated Kathy -- you showed your true colors.

You know Beth, I don't normally like to respond to evil people who make such statements, but in this case I will.

You need to crawl back under the stone you came from. You were the one who started this with your post. And don't try to tell me it was not on purpose! Kathy was the one who got hurt in the end. She said nothing that you had not already said in reality.

And I sure as hell have not seen you finding Vivi either! Reminder to Kathleen - Ignore such evilness from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just touched off my Southern temper, now I feel much better.....

Bickering and being unhappy waste so much time and takes energy away from saving the horses and pitts and other needing help.

A few people need to crawl back in their hole and stay there. There is no reason for what you say Beth. I might add, who cares about who you do or don't respect.
We treated Kathy in no way, we voiced an opinion. This is something you do all the time and just now did.
Pukie, you should know about bickering, you've done enough of it with me in the past.
Thats all I have to say...comment on it, but you know I'm right.

You are very right Pukie Baby (wink, wink). Thanks for reminding me to ignore things like this.

See, told you I was a "stinker" too (hee, hee)!

P.S. I lied, I do have one more thing to say.
Denise F. clearly says, FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Thanks Roooby, you are right too. Freedom of Speech is important. We all may get upset and argue, but there is good in every one of us - yes, even you Beth!

Like I was telling someone last night, we may sometimes seem a bit overboard or obsessive compulsive in our views. But it is this same obsessive and passionate nature that allows us to love little creatures so much. And that is certainly nothing but good!

Time to work for the animals - so very much to do.

Yes, we are all very compassionate about animal care and rescue and that is what drives our relationships on this blog and makes us STRONG! Freedom of speech is our right and a privilege, but sometimes we need to use that "filter" between our brains and mouth/fingers as we type and are exercising that glorious freedom. All of us has felt the sting of a snide post at one time or another and know how hurtful and unproductive those opinions sometimes are.
Kathleen and Kathy-happy that you are back! You are our gentle warriors and you belong here.

HEY GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST GOT NEW PICTURES OF THE CHI TOWN 5 - YES 5 NOW!!!!!!! THEY ARE JUST AMAZING AND OF COURSE I WANT ALL OF THEM!!!!! PORK CHOP JUST KILLS ME!!!!! AGAIN - THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR HELPING THEM GET OUT OF THAT KILL SHELTER!!! YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THIS DOES TO BE EMOTIONALLY - YOU GUYS HAVE FILLED MY HEART WITH LOVE AND CARING AND I WISH I COULD HUG EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THESE STUNNING PITTIES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WILL BE VERY PROUD TO SEND YOU THEIR HAPPY PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN, I BOW TO ALL OF YOU - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!

Beth your comments were both incorrect and very hurtful. I suggest you stop unless you wnat to take the brunt of this. I do admire your persistance in helping the horses - and we are doing what we can for them as well as the animals who have been abused or are near death. i will say, however, do you DARE ever bring Vivi's name into this like that. go and spout your lies and crap on Greytalk - keep telling them how deeply involved you are in the Vivi search and how you admire us. i have kept quiet about the garbage i read on there for a long time but you have crossed the line now. each time you are here, you hurt and insult - defeating any good that we are trying to accomplish and i, for one, am sick of it. we are busting our asses here - STILL LOOKING FOR VIVI and rescuing as many babies as our hands and pocketbooks will allow - that you will not NEVER take from us. we have help to save 9 Pit Bulls in 2 days - that i think is a hell of an accomplishment for girls who don't do rescue as a living - and these were all hundreds of miles away. you and you alone were the cause of so many people leaving this blog and it will not happen again. next time, you will go through me - this is OUR home and you are not invited here to destroy what we all have built in a year and 4 months.

Kathy - you get your butt back here - you already know what i will post about you if you don't :)

We can all tell the difference between Kathy trying hard to help, but maybe being tougher than we are regarding the ability to hear details about who we are helping, and someone else using the pain of animals to hurt us on purpose, which is weirdly mean, to say the least.

Good Morning Team Vivi......here is today's call in strategy. Just a note----Today is the Cavel hearing. Let’s all hope and PRAY for a good outcome. Keep in mind that the judge may NOT make his decision today. In the meantime, we must push with all we have to end this once and for all by getting S311/HR503 passed into law!

Points to make:

1. Let your Senators know that now that two of the slaughter houses are closed in this country and the third is on it's way out, it is URGENT that we get this legislation passed to stop the transport of horses to Canada and Mexico.

2. Let them know that their support isn't enough but we NEED the co-sponsors to get this to the floor for a vote. You can let them know you are aware there is a hold on the bill and they are the only ones that can help us move forward.

Strategy for Thursday, June 14

As you all know by now, these bills will NOT move forward without the appropriate number of cosponsors. The numbers they are looking for are 218 in the House (currently have 161 officially) and 60 in the Senate (we currently have 28 officially). We have word that we’ve picked up two new cosponsors but won’t make it official until they are on the list.

Let us be clear, without the federal legislation passed, we will NEVER end the slaughter of American horses! We must put a stop to the slaughter AND the transportation of our horses to slaughter in Mexico and Canada. AND WE MUST insure that another slaughter house never opens on American soil.

We will be targeting strategic members of both the House and the Senate this week. Please make the calls and help save our horses.

This Call/fax list includes all who have cosponsored the bill last year.

Kathy - faxing like a maniac!!!!!!

Kathy - all done!!!!
Meri-Lou: i voted too

Yup, I did the voting thing, too.

oh, Kathy - they are breathtaking! **sniff, sniff**
the baby - i have no words....
nice job, all of you!!!!

wait a minute!!!!! you actually saw them, Kathy???
you would have had to tear me away from that baby.

Oh Kathy, you were out there with these guys? How could you ever leave?

Darlene, I haven't said anything inaccurate on "greytalk." I was very involved in the search for Vivi -- just not your search. You keep forgetting there were other searches going on that you were not in control of. I'm not surprised, you are very self-involved. So, are you part of the New York call group? If not, why not?

know what? i am not fighting with you. you have disgusted so many people on here that it's not worth my time. excuse me - i am trying to get 2 dogs shipped up from GA. and puh-lease, all of us saw what you wrote on Greytalk. it was a bunch of bold faced lies - we all got quite the kick out of reading the fairy tale. we all have asked that you stop picking on people here and you continuously do it - that's all we asked. but obviously shrews like you just can't stop your miserable attacks.

Yes - I was really there......my daughter had to give the baby a shot, take its temp, clean out her wound --- she's a strong little girl for only being 2-4 weeks old. Very skittish of people - I WONDER WHY. It was very very hard to leave - could have just camped out there with them except for my allergies. But it does make you feel good to actually see what you have done......the pictures of the other horses were taken at the auction site before we took them to their new foster homes.....such a dreadful place ----- hated being there. Hoping to go up this weekend and visit the baby and mama again and help out at the rescue..

If you guys have the chance - find a rescue near you - there are lots - and just arrange a visit --- rescues are always looking for help - and anyone can brush a horse - the feeling is tremendous --- talk about a heart to heart closeness ---- you will never forget it.

you are so lucky!!!!!!! God bless for loving them up close!! my best friend, Tracy, back in PA volly's for a rescue not far from my house. I told you guys about Carla - works 3 jobs jjust to keep the horses and dogs safe and happy. I have been there several times and have playing gopher by picking up stuff for the barn and such that they need when i am home. it's a joy to be able to give what you can to places like that - they need it so desperately. 2 of the babies are Clydes - i adore them :)

I'd be luckier if the rescue was closer - it's an hour north but worth it.

Interesting. No answer to my question regarding whether you are part of your state group. Typical.

Beth, no one has to "belong" in order to do some good. Darlene calls, faxes, and sends letters. Each and every person has their own way of doing things and just because they don't do it your way does not mean they are not helping the cause. Some prefer to work quietly behind the scenes, and those people are just as important as those who have a need to "belong" to a group.

The girls are very focused on the dogs, yet take the time to call, fax, and mail for the horses, too. No one knows what all they are actually accomplishing with the dogs because they don't feel a need to brag about it - they just do it, and believe me - they are doing a lot more than anyone knows.

how's that harry oakes "ongoing investigation" going beth? i seem to remember you were part of that search... how come we never heard the end result of that one? i guess because it's still ongoing and ongoing and ongoing...

State group? As in a facility for head problems?
Gee whiz, I'm glad I'm not a part of a state group.

Moniker! Harry Who? haaaaaaaaaaaaaa...I'm surprised the SPAM Fairy let you post that name..Got chicken?
Could you spare a wing or a leg or a thigh? heh

i am hoping the arteeeest will pop up again :)
we need a new pictorial of that mess.

Kathy - anywhere else to attack????

LOL!! Roooby made me snort and spit!

Just the directions I posted.......in addition to the list - call your senators and get them to co-sponsor --- Dear ol' Hillary sponsored last year but hasn't committed this year --- perhaps she should pay some attention to her new york peeps and get their backing before running for president

JUST GOT A CALL FROM VIKI...THEY ARE ON THERI WAY TO COURT NOW...THEY BELIEVE WE SHOULD AHVE SOME NEWS BY 4PM EST....

PLEASE EVERYONE...SAY A PRAYER THAT THE JUDGE WILL SEE THE CRIME BEING COMMITTED HERE AND HE WILL UPHOLD THE LAW SINGED BY THE GOVERNOR!

THEY DID SAY THERE ARE NO HORSES AT CAVEL....
