The Garden continued to surprise today: In the Herding Group, "Smokin'," last year's Group winner, got dumped in the breed, as we like to say.
Two other favorites emerged unscathed, though: The number-eight dog in the counttry -- Champion Celestial's Cj's Jolly Fairchild ("Fairchild"), the petit basset griffon vendeen (just call her a PBGV and get it over with) -- and number two -- James the English springer spaniel (listed in the catalog by his formal name, Champion Felicity's Diamond Jim) -- won their breeds handily, and are headed to their respective group rings.
Look for James to give Harry the Dandie Dinmont a run for his money.
For this fancier, the only ring that mattered today was the Ridgeback ring, which burst at the seams with the day's largest entry of 50 dogs. And the winner was family to me -- literally: Mafu (Champion Kimani's Aires Above the Ground), who is the sire to my current litter of 14 puppies.

Just saw the piece on Vivi on the Westminster Dog show - very very heart wrenching for me but made me proud that I am a part of this search - even if it is from afar.
Just saw the Westminster special segment about our lost little girl. So sad to see Vivi's 2-year old son, Johnny. The 800 number was given! Let's pray that this is the media attention that has been needed all this while. Viva la Vivi!

Father God, We too often forget the extent of Your power. You created the world and miracles that happen within it, are authored by You. Write a happy ending to Vivi's story, Father. Send us the miracle we pray for. Protect and guide, feed and water this beautiful little girl. Let her find a warm stable, or cave, or garage, or green house to sleep in and get our of the weather. Let her respond to a rescuer so she can go home to Jil. Send a miracle to all of our lost homeless, and ill dogs, and cats, and little brothers and sisters in creation. Heal our animal lovers including Madison,

Any vivi news at all to report? Just wondering, today's weather has made me very uneasy.
Laura, I just read on my home page about the mother cat nursing a 6 day old Rottie mix that was rejected by its mother. They are at the Meriden CT Humane Society. All are doing well. What an upliftin story.
I just saw Big Ideas with Danny Deutsch. The topic was Dogs and he had on the woman who made the Global Pet Finder for dogs. It works through your cell number and the computer. It will track your dog if it goes beyond a certain preset range. All I could think about was Vivi. She said it's for dogs 30lbs and up but will be coming out with one for smaller dogs and is working on one for cats. The show had many interesting people on who are in the dog business.
The hoarder who has Vivi needs to retrieve her now and turn her in asap. You know who you are. It's time to do what is right.

Please keep her and all the other lost ,missing and/or abandoned little ones fed watered and sheltered until they are brought to refuge and safety.
