That's the Ticket!

Ticket, the 11-year-old runaway whippet in Cedartown, Ga., has been caught!

Apparently a bit of a Romeo, Ticket was lured to a trap by the scent of urine from a female whippet in heat.

Psalm 8
O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth! You have set your majesty above the heavens!
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place--
What are humans that you are mindful of them, mere mortals that you care for them?
Yet you have made them little less than a god, crowned them with glory and honor.
You have given them rule over the works of your hands, put all things at their feet:
All sheep and oxen, even the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, the fish of the sea, and whatever swims the paths of the seas.
O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth!

VIVI IS NEXT!!!

This is wonderful news, congrats Mary, we are all so happy for you. I love the picture!

This is such wonderful news! What a clever idea of using female urine in the trap.
Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to get Ticket home!
Vivi you're next!

yeah!!!!!!!! i was screaming when debblie called me last night to tell me. my husband thought my fever had spiked and i had gone nuts. i am so happy for Ticket, Mary, and of course - TEAM TICKET!!!!! grrrrreeat going gang - you guys prove that i can be done and i am proud to know you!!!!!
he's one lucky boy :) APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE FROM THE WEENIE CREW IN NYC**************

Missing Greyhound in Ga.

Does anyone remember this or have information about him? Do you know if he's been caught? I'm looking for contact information if he's still on the loose.

Thanks

YEA!!!!! HOORAY!! HOORAY!!HOORAY!! I am so excited for this senior dog and his owner!!

GAIL--Ticket was captured last night!! He's OK as far as I know...I heard from Mila and this blog yesterday. So rest your mind that he's fine.

Paula - Ticket is a whippet. Gail is asking about a grey.... (?)

I just heard from Karen S, and she says Ticket looks great. He had not even lost weight. Amazing, huh!

BTW, we owe Karen's bitches some special bones or something. It was their urine while in heat that drew Ticket to the trap right away. Good going human and animal gals! Yeah Team Ticket (two- and four-legged ones)!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, Ruby are you there?

Have you heard any updates on that pretty boy Dodge who was recovering and looking for a home yet? I know you and I both fell in love with him immediately.

I did not get him for Christmas, did you?

OOOPs! sorry I didn't read this until I did reread...guess it sounds alike to me! :-)
thanks for telling me, Darlene!!

Sorry Jackie and Karen, I think I misunderstood. I just saw Jackie's post, and I believe it was the urine from Jackie's gals that interested our little male whippet, Ticket!

i know, Paula - it does get very confusing!!!!
Jackie rules!!!!!!!

Yes it was Jackie who did everything for Ticket. She will update you as soon as she has something to tell. She should be the one providing the news. She has worked SO relentlessly for this success.

Barbaro needs new prayers. His laminitis has gotten worse.

KathleenSssss,
Nothing about Dodge for weeks. He was being fostered. They wanted me to fill out papers to adopt him, but I didn't think I could with his medical history. I felt bad,but I'm sure he's doing well..If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

Karen,
Poor horse..just the other day they had articles about how well he was doing. He had well over 3,000 candles lit on his site now. He needs all the prayers we can give him! /o;

Poor Barbaro. He was doing so well. I haven't looked at his updates lately. How serious is it?

It's a greyhound in Atlanta, GA I believe not a whippet.

Gail T - your Christmas card I sent you came back :(

There was new separation in the foundered foot's hoof wall. Any setback with that foot is bad.

So happy for Ticket, Mary, Jackie and the whole Team. It's truly a MIRACLE.

Dear Friends,
Thank you all for the ton of emails that will be answered soon. Ticket is on his way back home as I type!!! He appears to be in amazingly good shape to Mary. She didn't want to take any chances so felt it best to get him home and into his regular vet after their journey home. Marty, Mila and Teresa have been INCREDIBLE and have done more than you all could ever imagine. This sweet old dog "spoke to our hearts" and we just couldn't rest until we felt we had tried everything.

We want to thank Karen Stinnett for going to Cedartown on her vacation and helping Mary right after it was determined Ticket was sticking to one area. Thanks to Iva for her special help that absolutely inspired Mary and Chris. Thanks to Dr. Jill for her expertise in setting up humane traps! Bonnie Folz, how can I ever thank Bonnie Folz? If not for her example and inspiration of getting and keeping the Vivi search together, Mila, Marty, Teresa and I would never have met. With my whole heart, I truly believe Bonnie will one day know the emotions "Team Ticket" is feeling right now. Sorry to get "sappy" on you all, but the tears of joy won't stop! Thank you to ALL the Team Vivi "girls" who every day get up and keep on keeping on. You are all awesome. Thank you to Denise Flaim. Thank you to everyone who has lit a candle, said a prayer, sent encouragement.

There are three people in Cedartown in particular who need to be thanked. Clarence Gibson, Cynthia Hunter and Jeff Davis. Clarence and Jeff tolerated my twice daily calls into the radio station with nothing but graciousness. Cynthia sat with Mary and kept her supported and encouraged. When Mary took a break to go back to her sons to sleep, Cynthia kept her eyes on that trap. If any of you would be so kind as to send them a thank you note, please email me for their addresses. They deserve our thanks!

Big hugs of congratulations to Mary, who taught us as many things as we taught her. Never underestimate the power of a woman! I'm so glad she is taking her Ticket home. I had to ask her this morning if I was dreaming!! I am sure she will write when she gets settled back in FL.

Marty, Mila and Teresa, I will shut up now and let you all say something...I love you all!!

Thank you, GOD!! Miracles really do happen. Vivi is next!!!

Jackie
PS Thank you to Lucy and Dazzle for coming into season at just the right time! :)

Jackie - those were beautiful words!!!! i share in your joy but not even close to what you guys must be feeling. i must admit - i am a little jealous!!!! congrats on getting him back home and i agree - the Vivi girls - all of us - kick ass and never give up!!!! you had the best behind you- i can attest for Karen, Marty and Mila - those 3 are diehards!!!! and working along side Bonnie is something i will always treasure and never will forget. today is certainly a day of celebration!!!!
get the bubbly out - FANTASTIC JOB!!!! you guys should be very proud of yourselves!! the NY Vivi crew is ecstatic for each of you!!!!!!
Ticket's got more girlfriends now than that boy can handle!!!! give Mary our best from the Big Apple :)

I just went back to VIvi Voices #4, where I first posted about TIcket. Instantly Team Vivi jumped on it, and look what the outcome is. I am proud that we have the team that we have. Way to go!

Darlene: I feel sad for Vivi, it is her turn, I hope!

i feel sad too, Kim - very very sad...
she has to be jealous of all of the attention Ticket is getting - maybe since she's a vane little girl, she'll pop out and want some fame :)
we can only hope, my friend....

That is usually what she does. She waits till we let our guard down, and Hello here I am again, surprise! It sure would be nice to get another sighting...
I am really happy for Ticket, he is an old guy..I got a weakness for the older whips

sit and wait - it's a frustrating game. actually post and wait..... that's more like it. helping all of the others make me at least feel like i am accomplishing something. nothing like multi, mlti-tasking. keeps you young!!!

Such GREYt wonderful news about Ticket - now we need Vivi to get caught and Barbaro to get better.

hey Kathy!!!! don't tell me it's still snowing there.

not now but it is supposed to start again tomorrow night

Hello everyone,

YEE HAW. I can't tell you how happy I'm am right now with Ticket being caught. We never gave up on our boy and I'm here to report Ticket is home in Florida. Mary said he is doing great and he's walking around smelling things. Thank you Jackie, Mila, Teresa and everyone else involved. ViVi is next.

Snowed here Darlene.. finally some Winter weather but now I seen it so it can leave :) Vivi is a Taurus and if we believe in Astrology STUBBORN is a BIG word with a Taurus but she's also strong and very smart, a survivor and she will make it home... Keep the faith ...

Chrissy - snowed there? humpf - nothing here yet thankfully. it can stay far away!!!

I hear it is supposed to be cold there Darlene - then warm up - hope Vivi is keeping warm

It's almost the 3 O'clock hour. Let us take some time to thank God for what He has done for us, and to pray for some of our loved ones who need rescuing and healing.

Father Creator, Vivi has been gone long enough call her to a place where she can hear Your voice, and the voice of a good person wanting to rescue her. Vivi, You are a beloved creation of the Father, listen to his voice, so you can go home to Jill!
Father Creator, You healed the sick and even raised the dead through the obedience of Jesus', heal Madison during her necessary surgery, protect her while she is under anesthetic, and amaze doctors with her recovery. Place You healing hands and gaze on Your lovely horse Barbaro (Bobby), and let more healing begin. (We ask these things in Jesus' name.)
Amen.

I'm a Taurus, too. The difference between perserverance and stubborness (I've been told), is that one is motivated by "will", and the second is motivated by "won't".

EVERY time we think seeing Vivi again might be hopeless she surprises us.
I think the condition this almost elderly whippet is in after 3 months on his own shows us why Vivi, in the prime of her life, seems to be holding her own.

and everytime everyone gives up on Barbaro he rallies. One more time...

Kathy - it's about 40 here but sunny. not too bad at all, darling.
right Karen - come on Barbaro - one more time!!!!!!

Yup, come on Vivi and Barbaro, one more time...

AMEN, AMEN AND AMEN!!!
Madison...get better!
Barbaro...please get well soon, don't give up on living!
Vivi...please coming out of your hiding place we need to get you home!!!
Ticket Team...GREAT JOB!!!
Vivi Team...don't giving up and don't despair!!!
Keep faith and keep hope!!!

no dispair here, Paula. just a little wee bit of "wish we were them." you get it.

Darlene - maybe you could get some of Jose' urine and sprinkle it around - maybe Vivi would respond to that EEECK

I know what you means Darlene...just thought to added here. I'm sure one day Vivi will makes an appearance soon enough only God knows!
but the waitings are killers!!! :-)

Kathy - i just peed my pants!!! i can just see debbie trying to maneuver his trousers. as Ruby always says, ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paula - waiting sucks. that about sums it up :)

Have to tell you guys - my daughter surprised her husband last night with an Akita puppy - she is so so cute and such a sweetheart - he had no idea we were driving to pick up his forever dream dog. He was a little upset with me as my daughter told him we were driving 200 miles to pick up a greyhound for me to shuttle to his new home. After he found out that the greyhound was an Akita, he felt really bad - and I gloated cuz we had tricked him (which is something that doesn't happen). Anni is 5 months old and a sweet sweet baby girl.

GIRLS:
THIS IS FROM ONE OF NEW VIVI FRIENDS I MET THROUGH KATHLEEN S. CONSIDERING WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH ALL OF US, I WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU. THIS IS JUST BEAUTIFUL AND TRULY INSPIRES ME TO KEEP HELPING. GET THE TISSUE HANDY.......

The Reason

I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care.
Believing that there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted;
Skin that isn't flea bitten;
Good food and enough of it;
Beds to sleep on;
Someone to love me,
To show me that I deserve love, just because I exist.

Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands, your big heart
saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself, in times of despair, why you do it.
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes,
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little
tighter,
Make just a little more room... to save one more like me.

I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes,
In the best way I know how,
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason;
The dogs before me were the reason;
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted,
Our love never given,
We would die if not for you

I would like to add my thanks to those expressed by Jackie so very well. I concur with everything Jackie said and won't repeat it. As a member of Team Ticket I also want to say what great support I've gotten from my fellow team members, Jackie, Mila and Marty, through this entire ordeal. There were so many ups and downs, days when we thought we were close and many, many days when hope would fade. These incredible women NEVER gave up. We commiserated with each other through the bad times and celebrated every positive occurence both large and small. And believe me when I say there were many days when we were at our wit's end and thought we'd go to our graves worrying about Ticket.

Please do take a moment to thank Clarence and Jeff at WGAA in Cedartown as well as Cynthia (all addresses available from Jackie)who was the very first person to see Ticket in that trap! I know they would appreciate hearing from people all over the country. They did so much for us!

For the Vivi faithful who are feeling jealous all I can say is I'm sorry. I wish with all my heart that Vivi was already safe with her family in California. I truly believe we will be able to have that celebration one day. The cheers will be heard from coast to coast when Vivi is found.

Thank you all!

Teresa

Darlene,

We will get our girl. We can't thank the ViVi team enough. Hope Barbaro gets better.

Marty: keeping praying baby!!!!!!

THANKS ALOT DARLENE!!! I didn't want any tears today. Just kidding.

6,336 candles lit for Barbaro from 37 countries..Thats got to be a record!

VIVI has 49 candles lit!

I'm really happy about Ticket's recovery..Makes me wish Vivi were a male...

Darleeeeeeeeenaaaaaaaaa, ackkkkkkkkkk on the Jose thing...

KthleenSssss, I just got an email, Dodge hasn't been adopted yet. I think people are afraid of his injuries, afraid they can't afford to keep him in good physical health.. /o;

Darlene -

I'm so glad you have gotten to know my "very special friend" from the blog. She inspires me with her love for all animals (horses too), her kind heart, her many gifts and joy sharing these with many, and her love for God, just as Sharon and Betty (and many others) do as well.

I have told many, that by knowing all of you and being a part of helping animals along the way, you have all given me back some of what I have missed so much since losing my grandparents. There was a very deep and empty place in my life which has now been filled again.

I know my grandparents are smiling down at each little creature and each person that is helped on this blog. I look forward to meeting them some day and celebrating all of these successes in eternity with them as well.

Sharon, thank you (and Paula too) for the special mention and prayers for Madison. I am anxiously awaiting word from Gina about her surgery. I shared by e-mail with Sharon and Betty that I had this very strong premonition this morning of concern for Madison when lighting a candle. I asked for their support and prayers, and as always they were right there. Thank you so much. I will post an update on Madison as soon as I hear from Gina. In the meantime, please light candles for her at "B+." Thank you again.

Oh Ruby, that sweet boy needs a forever home. Can you send me an e-mail with the people's address? I would like to find out more about him and what would be involved if I decided to adopt him.

It was love when I saw him! I think he and I could bond also with all of our aches and pains. Tinkerbell could keep him warm at night along with me.

I tell you all, she is better than any heating pad I have ever seen! Must be all that chicken she eats!!!!!!! I told Mila earlier today, she had a large order of Sonic Popcorn Chicken last night. I did not get one bite - it was all hers!

Darlene that was a beautiful poem you posted. That's why we're all here. Today was a bittersweet day. Happiness and thanks to GOD that Ticket was found but sadness that Vivi is still out there. It will be her turn soon to come home.Bonnie and the members of Team Vivi have done so much that it's just amazing when we think how far we've come since those first days.

Kathleen - that would be cool if someone from the blog could adopt Dodge. I hope it works out for you. You don't want Tink to get the "only dog/only child" syndrome. Just kidding. Good luck if you try it.

Oh Pam, Tink already has that syndrome. She thinks she is the "queen bee" of our household - and she is!

We're tired after our 8 hour ride home but Ticket did wonderfully throughout the trip. He just slept and slept with his head in my lap while I drove. I can't say enough about the awesome and wonderful TeamTicket! You guys ROCK! He is resting as I type this at my feet. Guess he does not want to let me out of his sight, huh? :)

That is great Mary! Thanks for reporting. You guys have made our day. What a relief it must be for him to rest in a safe warm place. (This is the Karen you met in Cedartown)

Thanks for the report Mary. I am so excited for you and ticket. God was with you and Team Ticket.

I'm so glad you are reunited once again!!
God bless you, Mary for your courageous and didn't giving up on Ticket!!
He's a very lucky to have you as his mommy!

Mary, I can only imagine how happy you are to have Ticket back with you. Tinkerbell and I send you lots of hugs and kisses and wishes for many, many more years together. Tink says to be sure and give Ticket some chicken too!

MADISON UPDATE:

Thank you all for your prayers and candles. Here is the good report on Madison that Gina just posted:

January 10 - new feeding tube
This entry was posted on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 12:38 PM and is filed under uncategorized.

Just a quick note to let you all know that Madison's procedure to get her g-tube replaced went perfectly. There were no problems at all and she is home now eating for the first time today. Poor baby had to have been starving. Thank you for all the prayers for a smooth procedure! No other real updates for today, but I'll write again soon.
Madison's proud mommy

:-)

KathleenSsss,
I actually haven't given up on adopting Dodge, so I'll just wait and see..I doubt that they'd let him travel out of state, the Whippet rescues have special rules.
I'm still trying to find out what his health issues are now and his prognosis. It won't be an easy adoption and he requires special care.

Ruby - I hope you do adopt that sweet boy. He is so beautiful, and I know how much love you would give him. Let me know how things are going.

I had posted this on one of the other blogs. Really need some prayers said.

Hi Bloggers,

I had some sad news today that I was gonna ask for prayers for. I work at a police dept. In 2002 an officer on a drug raid was shot in the face. The bullet went through his cheek and lodged near ihis spine. We didn't think he'd make it but after very hard rehab. and determination he recovered where he could go back to work, bullet still lodged near his spine. He was able to perform light duty police work. This was his love, to be a police officer. Well, as a result of this shooting doctors had to put a pace maker in him. This morning at 12:35 a.m. he died of a heart attack at age 35. He leaves a wife and three small children. He was an awesome person and friend and will be sadly missed. I couldn't even go to work today because his office was across from mine and I'm still in shock beyond words. It was so sudden. Please pray for his family.

Laura

How sad Laura. My son in law is a police officer. It's a big worry all the time. I'm sorry for his wife and children and I'll say prayers for him and his family.

Laura, you work for the NH Police dept? This came as a shock as everyone thought he was doing so well. Way to young to die and he fought so hard what a shame this was.

I'm so glad that Ticket was caught and now home,I've been praying for her as well as Vivi everyday, I hope Vivi is ok. I still drive by the park when I can in the hopes of seeing her.Hopefully Vivi will be found soon.....

Gail:

Yes I work for NHPD as one of their typists in the investigations dept. Rob was a remarkable person. He was always joking and smiling, even through it all. I had the pleasure of meeting his 2 yr. old son and also when he worked with in the narcotics canine unit, his dog Major (a black lab) which he got to keep when he transferred to the guns unit. We are all stunned of his passing as he brought so much happiness and determination to all he touched. We also are still getting over the passing of another young officer just months ago.
To all of you, thanks for listening and adding this person to your prayers.

As always, still thinking of Vivi and our other lost fur babies, please know that you are loved and praying for all of you to return safe and sound soon.
God Bless,

Laura

Laura, I never met him but I did go to the fund raiser that was held for him at Savin Rock. I do know people that knew him. I hope they charge Bell with capital murder. They showed his lab on the news tonight.

AMAZING!Barbaro has 12,224 candles. The whole world is praying for that sweet horse!

VIVI IS NEXT!!!

I just received this from Melanie of Prayers for Pets--they've been praying very hard for Ticket,Vivi,Dante, andCubby, and many others for us. They would like us to reciprocate with prayers for this kitty: My Best Friend Spit McGee has been diagnoised with Feline
> Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He threw a clot day after
> Thanksgiving. In addition he now has a low white blood cell count
> which Drs feel is from the medication he needs to prevent additional
> clots. Drs. from Angell tell me it is hopeless.
>
> Spit is the love of my life. My heart is completely broken. Please
> pray for Spit's healing. He is the reason I get up in the morning
> and come home at night - he is the joy of my life.

> Thank you,
