Lisa Bryant sent this email to Vivi search coordinator Bonnie Folz to tell her about the unfortunate ending to the story of Tarik, an Afghan hound who escaped from his new adopters in Pennsylvania. It is posted here with the permission of both.
"I wanted to write you to let you know that the search for Tarik ended last Saturday," Lisa writes. "A family found his body in their yard and were kind enough to call me. I did pick him up and took him to my vet to be cremated. I couldn't bear to let him be thrown in the trash. I hate how this ended, but I am grateful to at least know what happened."

Ah, poor Tarik. I had hoped so for his capture. At least the family has resolution - and that is so important. The poor sweet baby.
Sorry Beth, I should have just referred Debbie to the post date and time instead of reposting it. Didin't me to copy the insult and make it grow!
Aw, heck :(...... we all so badly wanted this boy to find safe haven and were hoping so hard he would be found. May God bless his sweet soul and the kindness of Lisa to treat him gently and send him off like the true regal hound he was.
Sorry for the typos. I simply must slow down.
Very sad news. He is with God at the Rainbow Bridge now waiting until they get there. Another sweet angel up there.
Sweet Sweet Tarik - rest at Gods feet in comfort - I am so sorry for your passing.
It just breaks my heart when we can't find one of our beloved animals. And they escape so often. I feel like putting up an electric fence ten feet high around my house to protect them, but that doesn't work either.
Run free, Tarik:
Mindful of you the sodden earth in spring,
And all the flowers that in the springtime grow,
And dusty roads, and thistles, and the slow
Rising of the round moon, all throats that sing
The summer through, and each departing wing,
And all the nests that the bared branches show,
And all winds that in any weather blow,
And all the storms that the four seasons bring.
You go no more on your exultant feet
Up paths that only mist and morning knew,
Or watch the wind, or listen to the beat
Of a bird's wings too high in air to view,--
But you were something more than young and sweet
And fair,--and the long year remembers you.

WOW Elizabeth - that brought tears
Dang - now I've got tears again!!
Tears here also, Godspeed Tarik...
Hey Pam you and me both, I had no idea a body can produce so many tears.
I was so hoping Tarik's story would have a happy ending. Poor little guy...
Barbara P
Thanks, Elizabeth. That did bring tears. Was so hoping for better news.
Tarik...never met him...but he became one of my heart dogs. It should have never happened.
I was also hoping for good news about Tarik. That did bring tears, Elizabeth. May he find joy at the Rainbow Bridge until his family joins him someday.
Tarik will now be our special Vivi angel :)
and God bless Lisa - poor baby tried her heart out. he deserved and received a dignified and proper send off to God. thanks to that wonderful woman, he got it. you are one brave lady, Lisa. the Weenie Gang admires and understands. i will never forget Tarik or Lisa's undying efforts. it should be an inspiration to us all.
Rest with the angels Tarik. we all loved you.
Sorry to ask this - but does anyone know what happened to Tarik - did he just die from the elements, did he get hit, did he choke from the pronged collar and leash? Sorry - I just pray it was a quick, painfree passing for such a sweet boy.
It can be so hard, sometimes. This reminds me of the three-month long search for the greyhound, Groove. So many sightings, so very close to getting him safely home. Then, his body was delivered to the owner's yard. Groove had been shot by a farmer who did not like stray dogs on his property. I've never seen more dedicated searchers than those who tried so hard to save Groove. Sometimes, life just isn't fair.
There is a candle sight already for Tarik..Poor baby, I feel bad for everyone concerned.
So sad to hear about Tarik.
so who has Bobo, Sedona or Libby.
Pam did you happen to notice if your frosty had a purple collar on, maybe bobo stopped by thinking it was his Mr snowman from the trunk, world traveler he is, he better get his rump back by Christmas.
Rest in peace Tarik:
For the Journey is done and the summit attained. You have crossed the Bridge to be with God and all the other animal Angels.
Hey Gail, know the feeling about Tarik, we all tried to help from out of state, thought for sure with all the things we have been trying for vivi this one was a sure catch.
Any news on Ticket? Hope they can get that one.
Debbie - I don't think he had purple on him. I know a black hat and pipe and red scarf. I'll check to see if he's got any purple on him. That might explain why Bobo never wanted to come in. He thought it was his long-lost friend.
Debbie
No news on Ticket. You guys still keep him in your prayers.
Pam I am afraid to ask what was going on in that shed if you find purple anywhere.
Marty always have him close to us, I had even emailed info to them to try to help get him. One thing on his side is the weather, hope they find him.
Debbie - tee hee!! Don't ask - don't tell!
Debbie, with a lead and a prong collar on (don't get me started on that) I thought sure Lisa had a shot at catching him.
Any news on Axel?
It has been really cold in Georgia and with Ticket being up there in age we have really been worried about him. We're hoping and praying he's still in the same area finding food and a warm place to sleep.
Kathy (CO) email me at home
Marty - anything we can help with? faxing, calling, etc? we have to get Ticket!!!
Marty - if you need anymore mailings sent out, let me know! I can help with that at least.
RE: the previous post - I was referring to Ticket.
Thanks Darlene. The whole town knows about Ticket. Jackie calls the radio station everyday and gets on live. Mila, Teresa, Jackie and myself have sent out alot of flyers so we're hoping a call will come in soon.
Gail I know.
What can we do for ticket besides flying down to search.
Who is Axel?
Weenie back so soon, what did you do fly home.
Pam you little devil, is there something you want to tell us, do we have to find out about little Bobomen. Frosty is looking a little full in the belly area I bet.
Thanks Pam. Did you get my email I sent you with the addresses? We have to get ViVi home also. At least we know she is alive.
Have to wait until next year to see what develops!!??!!
Yes Marty - got your e-mail and it's full-speed ahead!!
Pam I can hardly wait.
Thanks Pam. You are a angel.
Thank you Darlene...you know what I mean.
Pam I can hardly wait.
I know, Gail, i know....
xoxoxoxoxo
I just have to say, I am in awe on how much you love these animals. I thought I was the only human being who broke down at the thought if a pet - that I never even meant - being hurt.
It feels good knowing that there are more people out there like me. I will never understand why and / or how someone could hurt such innocent creatures.
The only way I get through it is to believe that - in my heart of hearts - that they are sent here for a reason. Just like us. And I really believe there is a higher power that protects these creatures when no one else can.
You are all awesome!
Susan: you certainly are not alone - we're all animal crrrrazy!!!!!! matter of fact, my Marnie is the penguin Queen!! call her Happy Feet :)
This is so sad about Tarik. If someone could only have seen him on the property a little sooner.
There was a rescue of a female malamute a few months back that some woman found on her property. The dog was laying there, skin and bones, not moving and the woman thought the dog was dead. The dog probably was within an hour or so of death. She went up to the poor girl and she made a very faint movement. This woman immediately called a rescue and believe it or not the dog was saved. She is still undergoing extensive medical treatment though. They named her Willow as she was so bone thin. The pictures of her on the rescue website were heartbreaking even after two weeks of being found and cared for. I could not believe a dog could become this emaciated and survive. No one ever found out where she came from either.
Anyway, God speed, Tarik run free and strong. You were loved and cared about by many.
susan: we are all animal crrrazy!!!!! Marnie is the Penguin Queen!!!! i call her "Happy Feet!!!"
DID I MENTION THAT THE VACAVILLE CALIFORNIA DAILY REPUBLIC HAD A PICTURE OF VIVI AND A NICE STORY ABOUT OUR LITTLE GIRL? Now thats a real cow town and they knew about Vivi!
The UPS man came and no Bobo, I think he got lost./0;
Poor little guy...Thats what happens in California, things get lost, especially something as, uh, cute as BoBo..

does any one know what has happened to the lady that took the one dog that was being abused - I forgot her name, but she was refusing to tell them where the dog was and refusing to return him to his owners
Has everyone moved to this thread then?
There was a post on Bobo on the Back in Business thread.
Wasn't that Doogie??
yep - that was Doogie!!!!! i guess all is good so far. i don't think anything happened to Tammy once the public got involved. Ruby, i am sure, would know!!!!
Libby: what happened to Bobo now??
ha!!!! Libby, i read it!!!!! so, where could Bobo be? how can someone miss purple pants??
Well, I wish some of you were in my neck of the woods. My husband thinks about nutty!
Back when I was 19 years old (yes, I'm 36 now and still cry about this) I was en route back to Chicago and saw a dog running down a country road in Indiana. I picked the dog up in fear it would be hit by a car. It was a Sunday and there wasn't anywhere to take him. He had no collar, etc. I brought him back to Chicago and my parents allowed me to keep him. He destroyed our carpeting, our doors, etc. It was bad. Not having a place of my own, my mother told me I had to bring him to the Humane Society. I drove down with this dog and the woman was downright mean to me. She took the dog as he placed his paws on my stomach. I told her that I had some medicine for him for a scratched eye. And she responded curtly, "Well, if this anything wrong with this dog, it will be put down."
I will never forget that day and so wish I could change it. I try to make up for it, for I now have a crazy beagle that was being mistreated. The only good thing is there are so many more options than there were back then. I named him Tuck and always ask for his forgiveness - wherever he may be.
I don't know why I shared that. I so want forgiveness for that ...
Diane K-M, Gail T, etc..... we may have a new "Vampire" for you!!! reinforcements just contacted me today.
Susan - you've got forgiveness. That happened to me with a cat. Long story - short version. I had a cat named Tommy Tucker. He had to be "put down" as the expression was back in the old days. It haunts me to this day.
Susan!! it's not your fault!!! my God - you tried!! i know it is so hard - you should see all of them we run into here - it's so depressing! Tuck, wherever he is, LOVES YOU for what you did!! He is most likely in Heaven by now, playing with all of our beloved who have passed, looking down on you and smiling his little face off. you didn't lose him... what irks me is the attitude of people who are SUPPOSED TO CARE - MANY ARE PAID TO CARE!!! damn that woman for hurting you!! Tuck wasn't the one who unsettled you - SHE was. and know what? she WILL get hers. should you remember the witch's name, check and see if she is still in the same position. knowing things as they are now, i doubt it. you did the right thing, darling and if you and Tuck were treated the right way - the loving way - you would feel GREAT about what you did instead of guilty. don't let that bitch change a lovely yet difficult thing into something that will ruin your life. He loves you - I'm sure of it!!! and now you have us to talk to - God help you. Ha!!! I personally think you are quite the little hero - many people wouldn't have stopped.
and FYI - went through a bad thing 2 years ago and unfortunately lost my Chow, Jamie. it KILLED me!! at the same time, Pope John Paul II was dying. as a Polish woman, who adored JP II, i was already upset. but, you know what? when Jamie went to God, i told me husband - she's waiting at the "gates" for JP II. i swore it was true...
guess what? it was April 2 - and my beloved hero, JP II passed that afternoon peacefully... with Jamie waiting at the those "gates."
Well if Ruby said Bobo didn't come in with the UPS shipment, I don't know. He could be lost or just enjoying the free travel with his new buddy the UPS man. He gets such disrespect from all the women. Or maybe wandering in California, looking for the Haight or something. I think he could be pretty old
Maybe Bobo is "visiting" another Snowman!!
perhaps Bobo is in the damaged box cage at UPS. after what Debbie put him through, he certainly is "damaged." however, I am not buying it, Ruby!!! did you make Bobo into your poolboy???
at least Jose stands a chance - a greasy oily chance but whatever works. i have a feeling that Jose may be making an appearance soon for all to see to celebrate the holiday season....
OMG who is going to reclaim him if he is damaged goods just thrown in an old UPS bin?
Hi Gang!!!!
I HATE IT THAT I CAN'T GET ON THE BLOG DURING THE DAY!!!!!! How is everyone? So sad about Tarik. Vivi has another angel to watch over and protect her.
Amanda - I will pray for you to kick that cancer in the butt!!! Yes, we are a family here and I love these people so much!!! I, for one, welcome you to our family!!!!
Hey Darlene - you called me "normal" on the other thread??? Why thank you dear, but in time you will see what a lunatic I can be!!!! ;)
Oh, and by the way - I saw Bobo at Stop & Shop this afternoon. He was buying a bottle of Boone's Farm wine to drown his sorrow. He's devastated over Debbie dumping him!!!!!
can't trust Debbie to. she'll fly out to "Get her Bobo" and blow the time at the Calif. beach bars. HA!!!!! Hmmm....
quite the quandry....
Lois - you saw Bobo??? now she made him into a drunk? that figures!! ha!!!! Lois - we miss you here, doll face!!!
I miss you guys too! :(
Are you guys attacking me behind my back. Check your mail Darlene and Lois.
Lois - did you just leave him there chugging wine in the grocery store? he probably had one of those crappy carts with only 3 good wheels, huh??? one more day and BYE, BYE DC!!!!!! YEAH, LOIS!!!! PARTY AT LOIS'S, EVERYONE!!!!!
AHHHH - YOUR EVILNESS!!!! YOU HAVE ARRIVED...
checking now.
Evil Queen - you sent to Doggiezoo??
DEBBIE - calling you in a few....
i'm sorry!!!!
Come on over!!!! You guys don't need an invitation!!!
Yes, Bobo was wheeling a klunker cart and was fighting with a woman over the last bottle of Boone's Farm so I didn't want to get involved. I saw her slink out of the store empty handed so I guess Bobo won the fight!
Bobo is so manly!!! no wonder Debbie found him sexy!!! i just talked to Debbie, Lois - she is OK. alot on her plate right now. i know she will think it's ok to say -
Sharon - please include Debbie's adopted cat, Fluffy, in your prayers tonight. the old guy isn't doing too well. he's 15 and in the hospital. she will fill in details if she wants to. just a prayer would help them both.
Debbie, I am so sorry to hear that your Fluffy is hurting and in the hospital. Please accept my prayers and good wishes for you and for Fluffy. Hugs and kisses to you both.
Darlene - You are an angel. You made me cry (not that it's difficult to do!... :>)
Vivi, I swear, is God-sent. I have heard so many happy endings in the search for this dog and, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have ever found this blog.
How I hope Vivi and the others are found safe.
Debbie - Sorry to hear about Fluffy. My thoughts, prayers and good wishes are being sent your way.
Oh, and my snowman's other color is green. Could Bobo be color blind?
Possible sighting of Ticket today. Women calls and said she saw a dog that looks like the picture on the flyer.
Marty, you all have been doing such a tremendous job getting the word out about Ticket. Is there also very many people on the ground that can go out regularly to search for him?
Eternal Spirit, we bring you our grief in the loss of Tarik and ask for courage to bear it. We bring you our thanks for Tarik who lived briefly in this world and gave freely of his love. We commit this regal boy into your loving hands. Give us eyes to see how your love embraces all creatures and every living thing speaks to us of your love. Amen.
(re-working from Beliefnet.com)
Where can I see a picture of Ticket?
Thank you Sharon.
Psalm 19- God's Glory in the Heavens
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the sky proclaims its builder's craft.
One day to the next conveys that message;
one night to the next imparts that knowledge.
There is no word or sound;
no voice is heard;
Yet their report goes forth through all the earth,
their message, to the ends of the world.
(Paul's letter to the Romans)
The Scripture says,
No one who believes in Him will be put to shame.
There is no distinction between Jew and Greek;
the same Lord is Lord of all,
enriching all who call upon Him.

Just came back from being out with Rosa and Tina around the area of the last sighting and believe it or not past sightings were not that far from this one. It seems that all these areas run into each other. It's amazing! Forest Park runs into cemeteries, train tracks and goes on and on and on. Both sides of the block too! Put up posters, checked out areas for a potential cameras and a feeding station (pretty much found it and Rosa will go back tomorrow during the day to see what it looks like in the daylight and what kind of people are walking around) and handed out flyers to people walking their dogs.
Thanks to those who sent Diane those great posters!!! I loved them!!
I don't know what Diane has left, but I can use some more..
Posted by Michael: Sorry everyone I'm still here, hopefully Betty will be back soon. Romans 8:28 "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."
Dear sweet heavenly Father I enter Your gates thanking You for the most recent sighting of little Vivi, and for the renewed hope. And the uplifting of our faith, for we who belong to You know that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. And I come into Your courts singing praise unto You and Your most
