Nine months after Vivi's disappearance into the marshland at John F. Kennedy International Airport, the search for her seems mired -- frustrating for all involved, with no credible sightings for months.
This weekend's search by trackers Laura Totis and Sam Connelly did yield a couple of "hits" in terms of scent, but Laura and Sam underscore that the only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that their dogs alerted to a scent -- not that it is unequivocally Vivi's scent.
In one case, one of the tracking dogs alerted to a scent, but the other dog, coming from the opposite direction, did not pick up on it. Was this Vivi? Hard to tell. Like people, dogs are fallible, too.
Searchers report that there is one area adjacent to Forest Park that has not been exhaustively canvassed or fliered: the East New York community at the terminus of the Interboro Parkway. Some searchers have expressed reluctance to post fliers in this more economically depressed Brooklyn community, but the possibility of Vivi having ventured there is not insignificant.
If Vivi is no longer running loose and has been taken by someone, keeping community awareness high is crucial. National exposure is also important, as lost dogs are frequently transported out of communities by "Good Samaritans" who are passing through.
In three short month, it will be the one-year anniversary of Vivi's escape. At that juncture -- with the Westminster publicity machine in full whirl -- you can expect that Vivi will be on the nation's radar screen once again -- perhaps the very push that the search for her needs.

February will be too late.
Beth, why always the negative comments?
Don't you think the searchers have tried? A hunter & his dog went missing in a very wooded area about 2 hours from where I live. This was back in October. They have already called off that search. They found the dog but not the hunter. That was only a month. These guys have been searching for over 8 mnonths.
Pam - This is so true. There was an 8-year-old little Oregon boy who also went missing recently. The search for him did not even last a month.
Everyone is doing everything they can to try and find Vivi. This is all people can do. We can give it our best and pray for good results.
Well I'm so glad to see that someone in a position of knowledge believes that Vivi being caught is a viable alternative.
Also, if anyone reading this has information that may be helpful in locating Vivi or any lead in that direction, or has heard of something yet unconfirmed, please e-mail me. All will be kept confindential.
Thank you.
Of course she "could" be in someones home , happy and warm BUT the only indication of that is a woman who calls up with a private # and based on the post about this lady she appears to be drunk or something... I don't really know what to think but I really have a feeling she's still out there. Thank you team Vivi for being so determined , and also putting your whole hearts into this, and for such a long time... You guys rule... I know I'm not there for anyone to really care what I think but I have never lost faith and will continue to stand my ground on that. So keeping the faith and looking forward to that day. Darlene and team Vivi would you like me to send you some beer or depends ??? :)You guys are a great bunch.
sedona: none of us ever said it wasn't a possibility. God - i hope she is safe and warm in someone's house. we just put all of the possibilities out there - we are only relaying what we have been told. that's it. we don't know what happened to Vivi but we are not professionals and cannot theorize anything without proof. that's how trouble starts. i hope someone does contact you privately and has her but none of us do and none of us know who does. and the negativity doesn't affect me or us, for that matter. i had so much fun this weekend, as well as after, with the searchers, talking and emailing back and forth, that it doesn't make a dent in our attitudes. although i do know that many searches have not and will not go as long as vivi's, we pride ourselves in doing what we all have done - for the right reasons. all of the blows thrown at us so far haven't stopped us - this is no challenge. i truly feel that there are details that people may think we have which are "hidden" but those involve personal and private feelings between the search crew. not facts in any way, and no one has any right nor any invitation to invade our privacy. we are close friends and close friends share things they don't share with anyone else. if that seems deterimental to the search, then you haven't understood the search for Vivi from the very beginning. there is nothing we wouldn't do for each other - nothing - how many people can say that after knowing someone for 8 months? that should be applauded, not condemned.
Darlene - my request has nothing to do with the searchers - nothing. I'm just hoping that someone's memory might be jogged and they think - hey I saw this or whatever -
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Little private conversations of fears or dreams aren't of any interest to me. People say stuff and cry about stuff and that is life.
Asking for tips on where Vivi might be - is not negative. Everyone is doing their best to come up with ideas to locate Vivi and follow up on leads.
If we get nothing, then okay, if we get something, all the better.
Darlene, IF Vivi is being held by someone out there, would you agree that all volunteers would have some vested interest such that they should know about this? Would you agree that even this theory deserves to be explored, just as we have tried to follow up on every other lead to find Vivi?
i meant no offense, sedona. i do hope that someone is out there lurking and knows it's ok to turn her in. the idea itself, i can honestly say is a good one.
Thank you Darlene. I just hope someone knows something and is willing to share off the official search line if needed. All will be treated with privacy and respect.
yes, beth, i do agree. did i ever say that anything shouldn't be explored? don't recall saying that ever to anyone. but if it is small talk amongst my friends and myself, than i wouldn't broadcast it here. ever chase someone across a park with a whippet, thinking it was her and embarrassing yourself and scaring the hell out of them? that was explored. we obviously are open to everything. crawling into a dumpster - did it, going house to house - did it. jumping a 10 foot cemetery fence in the middle of the night and getting chased by cops - did it. approaching drunken homeless men, handing them a card - did it. going down an alley and getting chased by loose pit bulls - did it. at the end of the day, it is evident we have done everything we have been asked to. why should this be any different? it isn't.
Darlene at 5:08 PM
Applauding here on Staten Island!:)
thanks diane :) how's your moose of a dog doing?
Beth, why do you keep insinuating that the searchers either don't know everything or something is being kept hidden? Makes me wonder if you know something and your not telling. It's as if your baiting these ladies.
we know everything we need to in order to continue. that's all that matters. she is HERE and we will take care of things as best we can, right? opinions and gossip don't change the facts. we only need faith and love for our girl to find her. everything else is just background.
I am following through on this idea that Vivi was stolen, or captured, or both because of the visions I have had of Vivi being with two set of people; one a couple and the other this blond woman.
But I cannot go forward without something more tangible. And I do not consider off comments said when tired or frustrated as evidence of Vivi's capture or reason to conclude that Vivi is stolen.
But if there is information that will support what I believe, then I'd like to hear it, but just gossip won't help.
In any event, I am following up and trying to discover if there is a truth out there that has slipped through the cracks - so to speak.
If not, then good. Another direction needs to be considered.
In any event, whatever I am e-mailed will not got further. I'm hoping a coherent picture emerges but only time will tell.
My greatest concern is that if everyone starts to believe this groundless "Vivi is found" theory, just so they can sleep better at night and meanwhile should this poor dog indeed still be out there, then she's been condemmed to rot on the streets of NYC....and that would be a sin after all the efforts everyone has put into this IMO.
Applauding here in Rochester NY too 6:19 pm...
Well, just keep telling everyone I am wrong Diane, and that will work to keep people from believing Vivi is found.
So, I look to you to keep us all on the straight and narrow path. I for one will continue to send fliers out - where do I mail them now?
sedona - diane isn't saying that she isn't still out there. she is saying that you as positively as we do what has happened. there are still many fliers going out. that hasn't changed. diane has the worst part of all of us - dealing with the NYC streets in the middle of the night and that is NOT pretty. let's just try to forget all of this crap and move on. no one knows definitively what has happened to her. as gail CT said previously, days ago, if you believe she is with God, believe it, if you believe she is captured believe it, and if you think she is still running like crazy, believe it. none of those opinions should change why WE ARE STILL HERE. we are still all here!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't that a small victory at this point? applauding back at ya, chrissy!!!
john's home - off to make him a lovely dinner :)
see ya' all later (ha - kathleen, you again!!)
Michael, who has been involved in numerous searches for sighthounds, including the search for Vivi, was able to catch a greyhound, Siobhan, who was missing since October 25th. It's an inspiring story, and the success was due to flyers. Here are the details of how Siobhan was caught and returned to her home. This was posted to a greyhound forum:
Jenn F and I got to the area in the middle of the afternoon to relieve the morning shift. We met up with Chris and George who had spent the weekend on the Cape passing out flyers and talking to literally everyone. We went over the map again, and tried to figure out what direction Siobhan could be heading: her travels had taken her in a big circle, and if the area we were working in was correct, she was about 3.5 miles from home.
During our conversation, we discussed whether we might be in the wrong area: there had been no sightings since the previous day, though we'd concentrated heavily there. Chris mentioned that there was a street, Hockum Rock Road, about a half mile north, that hadn't been flyered yet. Jenn and I said we'd cover it, and exhausted, Chris and George headed home.
Hockum Rock had an industrial area in it, and Jenn put flyers on poles all over. There was a gymnastics place, we put flyers there, and covered the roads for about a mile in the direction of Siobhan's home. Then, we started questioning our strategy. Maybe a sighting from the previous day was false, and she might be south of Route 6, the mid cape highway. By now it was dark, but we decided to start flyering there too.
We got to the new area, three miles south, made a pit stop, got some coffee and started posting the new area. No sooner had we started than Peg (Siobhan's mom) called. She had just received a call from someone who saw Siobhan in the area we had just left. A woman and her kids had just come out of the gymnastics place, saw Siobhan, and then saw the flyers. They were following her down the road in their car.
We got there in about five minutes, Jenn in a state of hyperventilation. We saw a car traveling slowly down the road. We flagged it down: it was the girls and their mom who said that they had tried to call Siobhan, she got frightened and ran into the woods right next to a gravel pit. Jenn pulled out the biggest nastiest spotlight I've ever seen and went crashing into woods. I circled around into the gravel pit to see if I could head Siobhan off. A few minutes later Peg arrived and joined Jenn in the woods.
Jenn thought she heard the sound of dog tags jingling, and tried to follow the noise with her light. She and Peg arrived at a 30 foot tall, vegetation covered berm at the edge of the gravel pit. Jenn pointed her light up, and reflecting back at her she saw two beautiful eyes, looking at her from the top of the berm. Peg started called to her, and to two of them started to climb the very steep, very treacherous berm.
Peg, by now breathing so hard from her exertions, could hardly talk, but she did, and kept up a running conversation with Siobhan. "Do you want your supper?" "Come on Siobhan, let's go home." But Siobhan was uncertain. Peg sat down on the ground. Siobhan approached, but not close enough. Jenn told Peg to walk away from her. Peg did, Siobhan began to whine and then ran right by her, saw Jenn, and turned around right into Peg's arms.
And, that's the way it ended. After carrying Siobhan down the berm, through all that thick brush, we got to the car to find our coffee, untouched, was now cold.
Welcome home Siobhan.
Maybe one should also ask Denise Flaim to not post anything regarding the idea that Vivi is captured because that hurts the search effort to find her.
Then we could have one official version of what's going on.....
And still I'd post my request for information. But I could add a little post script: please continue the effort on the streets to find Vivi - as I am at this point just speculating - that works for me.
Okay all that read the blog, please believe Diane about the wisdom of continuing looking for Vivi on the streets - post fliers and send fliers out etc. Right now that is the only practical and logical approach.
Night all. God bless.
now that's a nice ending. welcome home, Siobhan - from one irish family to yours :)
Darlene, da Dude is doing great! Thus far he's had no adverse reactions to the chemo. LOL The only adverse reactions this dog has is when our little witch cat "Precious" smacks him in the head, which is a regular occurance around here...then the big goofy guy cries...it's pathetic!
Gail at 6:02 PM, Great question!!
Sedona: Is the blond woman you're envisioning the woman caller?
great diane!!!! good, good news. sounds like my 4 lb. insane Romeo beating the crap of of both of my sharpei's..... ahhh.... good times. and mine do the same thing. small yet mighty, huh??? i still have to kill Rosa for that one..... evil little Pom.....
Diane, I don't know really. I saw her walking Vivi in a park and down steps etc etc. But visions are sometimes symbols. I haven't done a vision lately except seeing Vivi happy and sleeping on a big pillow.
I just did the drawing and figured one of these days I'd figure out who it is. I'm curious though about the caller - but my drawing the young female is of a savvy little thing so I doubt if it is the caller. Unless the caller was being a bit too savvy for her own good.
I heard that five different animal communicators felt that Vivi passed in August. Does anyone know who they are? Are any of them posting on this blog? Could they clarify their feelings?
I haven't been on here in hours so I am a little behind the curve here but I did want to address that we are ignoring the possibility that she has been "adopted". We ARE following up on ALL leads. We are faxing certain businesses far and wide. Bonnie said, Tell EVERYONE. That's how we WILL find her if someone has her. That is arguably the easiest scenario. Might be harder if it were, say, a black lab. I feel careful saying anything about this here. It is absolutely counter-productive to speculate on this in a public forum and need to do that less. It's a mistake.
We even regularly fax Sanitation.
So that leaves discussing the other possibilty. We have to find her and then catch her. This is harder and requires more work. That's the answer to that. IMO
Hey guys, Mz Darlene, hows the supper going, i have a simple question there have been many people who have called about vivi saying they have her and more than once, one called everyday and we all heard him on speaker phone claiming to have her, so why is this call any different than the hundreds of others? Maybe this woman was drunk by the way the converstion sounded, I could be wrong. I still find it hard to believe someone has her if they did she would have had to been hurt in order for someone to get that close to her, she is the runner isn't she. We are still working on places that need to be checked and will do so within our group.
Hey Diane great news for your Dude, what a trooper. Hug that boy for us.
Well I am putting feelers out and that is all I can do for now. But for sure, everyone involved, please don't take your focus off the foot search in Queens. Please help get Vivi off the city streets and back home where she belongs.

On October 18th, a female Boxer was pulled from Biscayne Bay.
Not sure whether she fell off a boat or a seawall, but we are of the belief she is too well mannered and too well taken care of to be a stray. The police have been circulating “Found” emails to other precincts looking for an owner, but so far, no-one has surfaced
Let’s put it this way. If this were your dog, you would be out there looking for her.
She is sweet, appears healthy – and we are convinced there is an owner looking for her.
Last time a plea of this magnitude was sent, (It was when that Aussie mascot was stolen from the storefront in the Keys), we received responses from as far away as Hawaii and Maine!
So folks---let’s do our magic again. Please pass this email far and wide to your pet loving friends. If there is an owner out there looking, we want to be sure we have exhausted every measure to reunite them. Post this where you work or play and if you know of a website or email distro for lost and found pets, by all means, pass it along.
We have several people in line waiting to adopt her, but we want to try one more time to find her owner.

I agree karen, also I stressed the parks Department since they are always around the parks doing cleanup on a daily basis and whomever cuts the lawns like landscapers, it's time for fall cleanup if there is or was a den they would be grroming the areas and may have seen it not knowing it.
Time to go spend some money on myself, I have given to everything except myself lately and am starting to feel like a raggedy ann doll. I need a little maintenace before our next search. See ya later, and no comments from the weenie crew please.
I agree also Karen. But I had to ask on the blog otherwise the question couldn't be answered.
Beth, who is the ac that your using that says Vivi is still with us?
I don't know who the 5 are that your talking about.
Ok Sedona I know everyone has a right to say what they wish... but you are just going on and on . At this point I'm just thankful that people are still looking for her and to hear you picking at this that and the 3rd is getting out of control. Please a little break...
Maybe if you keep thinking of only one scenario, that is what you will see in visions.
I looked back through the blog and found this one post too of someone who felt Vivi was very near the site of the US Open Tennis tournament. The places where the tracking dogs picked up hits look on a map to be right outside this stadium. They also mentioned the Trylon theater. Does anyone know where this is on Queens Blvd?
Also in the post about the found boxer, they mentioned there were different police precincts involved. Are NYC police willing to post a flyer in their police precinct headquarters? Maybe the Brooklyn area neighborhood people are reluctant to go into to post flyers could ask the police in that precinct to post a flyer at their station. Or maybe they just have way too much other stuff to do in such a neighborhood to worry about a lost dog.
LOL Ya know, sometimes I feel like Joe Pesce in "My Cousin Vinny" when I read some of the things on this blog, anyone else feel that way? :0
Beth, Curious....what is the point of rehashing what some AC's said back in August? It's November darling, AC's are saying different things now. Besides it's not an exact science, in fact it's not a science....only a few truly have the gift....that I do believe, and the rest are charlatans or wannabes. So pray tell what criteria can you possibly use to determine who is for real?
On another matter: Possibility vs probability...
Fact: Vivi is lost 8+ months now. She spent the better part of the summer in a huge heavily wooded park and it's surrounding huge cemeteries.
How feral do you imagine she has become?
Do some of you have any idea how amazingly skilled at canine dynamics the average Joe would have to be to entice a dog like this to them?
I'm not saying it's not possible....I'm talking probability. What do you think are the odds?
And bear in mind she can run 45 miles an hour!
Sure it's possible that "if" she was injured someone "might" have found her "if" she was in a visible area and not hiding somewhere remote, and "maybe" they brought her to a vet out of town and "maybe" they never saw her flyers or saw her on TV all the times she was on the various news programs, or in major Newspapers or People Mag, etc., and "maybe" ALL of their friends, families and neighbors never saw her either on flyers or on TV, in Newspapers or People Mag, etc., ......but what the heck are the odds of All of this happening? Sheesh! LOL I think winning the lotto has better odds!
Theories are good things to a point.....but they need something solid to base them on. A bunch of "ifs" and "maybes" is not solid grounds, in fact basing a theory on this many "ifs" and "maybes" is akin to building a house on quicksand IMO.
That's my thoughts on this, perhaps I have given some food for thought...maybe not, but at least I expressed my point of view......how it might be distorted remains to be seen I guess! LOL
Debbie: Da Dude sends hugs and slurps right back at ya and to all the bloggers! Heartfelt thanks for the prayers for this goofy guy.
Diane - I see your point, but we must remember one thing.
There are home with fenced yards, garages, etc. in these areas or nearby. The possibility of someone in one of these homes seeing Vivi maybe in a garage or something during the rain and trapping her are probably better than the foot soldiers' have.
If someone were to put food and water out regularly for Vivi, she just might keep returning to a yard or garage until she was trapped. Remember that garage at the very first that she was coming to for food and water.
This is just a possibility, but I think the people with homes and yards in these areas have a much better shot at her than we do perhaps.
If we locate a definite area again where she is, maybe this could help to trap her. Talk to all the people in these areas about putting food and water out and trying to trap her in their yards or garages perhaps.
Psalm 22
26 The poor will eat and be satisfied;
they who seek the LORD will praise him—
may your hearts live forever!
27 All the ends of the earth
will remember and turn to the LORD,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,
28 for dominion belongs to the LORD
and he rules over the nations.
29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship;
all who go down to the dust will kneel before him—
those who cannot keep themselves alive.
30 Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn—
for he has done it.
Father Creator, if there ever was a Psalm that raised to You a cry for the poor unjust, and mourned the unfairness of suffering this is that Psalm, and yet we chose not to raise to you the first part of that Psalm--we chose the second half.
The second half says that in spite of life's suffering and disappointments --We trust in You !!(Christians, this is also the Psalm Jesus' prayed before he died. If ever there was unjust suffering, and yet complete trust--HIS was the truest example.)
So Father we lift our prayer to You tonight perhaps disappointed, perhaps fighting for the causes of those who cannot defend themselves, but always with trust in You. Of course we lift up Vivi, and Bowdee, and all the lost, sick, and homeless, and always these intentions to You...
We pray this night,Father, that You continue Your watch over Vivi,Vern, Bowdee(BRING HIM HOME FOR HIS BIRTHDAY Week!), Ticket,Tarik, Butttons,Biggie,Sniffles,Holly, African Grey, Faithful (the little girl's seizure dog),Shimi, Yorkie, Black Afghan, Buddy, Rags, Precious, Whippet Annie, so that not even “one paw slips”. Show them to the volunteer of Your choice so that they may return to their earthly families. Surprise us by sending Vivi home to a volunteer (Kathy from Bayside,Rosa,Tina,Gail T,Bonnie,Diane T.,Diane K-M,Darlene,Debbie,Monica,Lois T.,Nancy M,Barbara Jean,Linda S. and her husband Mike, or Renee? Margot or Irene?)
Many of us also have animals which need Your healing touch, Great Physician we lift to you for your healing Skittles, Barney, Tara (THANK YOU FOR THE HEALING THAT HAS ALREADY TAKEN PLACE),Joey,Meeko,Skeeter,Andi,Sparky,Scout,Dodge, Auggie,Billy,Ezme,Clarus,Star,Doogie, Prince the Sheltie, CJ, Dante, Felice, Max, Little McGee, Murphy, Mylie, Barbaro, Gunner, Linus, Kiva, Ellie,(restore all that had to be taken), Morgan, Little Andi, Nicki, Dude, Tucker, Brandy, Lexie, Isabella, Twin Kittens, Bowen, Pie Bird,Wanda and Heather.Enfold all of us in Your healing embrace.
We thank you for healing Maureen, and Zipper!! Thank You for Isabella's improving health!Thank You for McGee's weight gain.
We are frail Father and many of us need Your healing so that we can serve the purpose for which You have created us.
We lift up the following people in need of Your healing: Kathleen's Mom Mary, Renee, Pam,Millicent,Jacque, JL, Lance, Madison,Chris, and Abby.
God of Power, stand behind Tammie and Doogie, Duke and Denise, and Otis' followers, as they have stood behind these animals, until justice is done.Thank you for Ruby, and all the bloggers who bring these animals to our attention.Thank you so much for helping us find a good home for Kristy,Tashia, and Pablo, and help us to find a good home for Barney. Thanks for Duke's and Bobbie's new homes, let Tashia's new daddy provide her with a fair chance, and a good forever home.
Be with all who mourn tonight, especially Mary Blevin's family and friends, and Pookie's Mom. Give Mary the loving reward you have waiting for Your faithful servants. Let Pookie, and Henry sleep at your feet until heaven becomes home.Let two gentle elegant greys accompany You on Your walk through Paradise. Tell them how much we love them and want to see them someday. I'm sure Heavenly Father, You and Your angels could find all our buddies some "celestial snookies". Greet all, human and animal alike, who will make the journey to Paradise this night. Reward our faithful animal companions who have gone ahead. Let all who are homeless know Your love, and ours, too.
Send your angels and saints to work with Vivi's angels. These NYC volunteers, and their leaders;Tina,Rosa, and Bonnie, serve as Your compassionate presence on earth. Don't let them become discouraged. Let them know that prayer wise "we've got their back"!(GIVE THEM RESTFUL SLEEP TO RELIEVE THEIR ACHES AND PAINS AFTER THIS SEARCH WEEKEND!)
Let our faith grow as a result of this experience! Restore as we sleep, Heavenly Father, as we turn over the night watch to you! YOU ARE IN CHARGE! AMEN!

I have to say this everyone, and I mean no offense to those sincere animal psychics who have tried to help us, God does not give us speculation, or clues, or hints--He simply tells us to trust in Him, and even the most hopeless situation (and I don't believe ours is close to hopeless) will resolve itself for good!
Bless you for your faitfulness!
I do not discount "psychics".
Dr. Edgar Mitchell who has a Doctorate in Physics and was an Appollo 14 astronaut, believes it is real, and along with other physicists that it will eventually be explained by quantum physics which also will ultimately discover/explain just what consciousness is.
Here's a link to one of just many informative articles about this physicist.
http://www.thewavemag.com/pagegen.php?pagename=article&articleid=24660
There are declassified US Government documents of experiments showing "gifted" people have a consistent near 40% accuracy rate in picking up images others are sending them. It is nearly 30% accuracy for average individuals who don't purposely tune in to these things. The statistical random chance of guessing correctly is only near 25%. This consistent average across many experiments carried out by many groups of 5 to 15% accuracy above the "random chance" rate is extremely significant & to some physicists, nearly proves the existence of the phenomena.
Kathleen,
The biggest problem with her being trapped in a garage or within a fence is that she can jump a five foot fence and she can run out of a garage before the door can be fully closed. Not saying it's impossible, just that the odds are real low, especially given that most homes in Queens do not have 6 foot fences.
Another thing is we learned when she was in Flushing cemetery that she can squeezed between the railing that connects to the post on wrought iron fences as that juncture is usually a tad wider than the rest of the railings.
The bottom line is whippets have awesome skills, there's a reason why many of them ultimately can only be recovered with traps.
Well, what do you know...the blog has actually "re-focused" its efforts on Vivi! It's the first time in a long time that "ideas" were actually thrown out on the blog - of course, the piranhas (blood thirsty little buggers aren't they) are still in full force...waiting for someone to make a suggestion just so they can squash it.
So, are the reports that Laura and Sam wrote up going to be posted on the blog anytime soon? How come no one is attacking their credentials? Doesn't sound like they came up with much more than Harry Oakes and Valerie now did they? How many days were they here? Sounds like just one. How DARE they leave so soon. Don't they realize how HUGE those parks and cemeteries are?
I find it simply amazing that just because their visit was planned and "approved" by the "locals" and the "locals" were able to control and direct their efforts that their visit was accepted with a couple of "maybe/maybe not" scents. What's up with that?
On another note...I don't think that there is anyone that reads this blog that doesn't appreciate what EVERYONE (not JUST the locals) has done to help Vivi out. I'm guessing that the majority of these people do not feel the need to stroke themselves (or get stroked by others) by detailing their efforts on the blog. There are many other "Vivi heros" that have never posted on this blog or have been recognized for their efforts, mainly because they are doing it for Vivi and for nothing else. I would thank them but they don't read the blog either.
Good night sweet Vivi, wherever you are...
Hi Libby,
Please reread my post. I believe there are true psychics, I also believe some folks get premonitions and have dreams that come true. In fact my maternal grandmother was believed to have the gift of 6th sense and I myself have had my moments, yet I don't think of myself as a psychic, it's nothing I can force, occasionally things just comes to me out of the blue and turn out to be true.
The issue I've had regarding AC's that have been consulted on Vivi is that too many times all the eggs have been put into that one basket and the AC's were incorrect. The result has been that the searchers concentrated their efforts looking for her in one place that AC's claimed she was in and she has surfaced somewhere else. This has been happening since day 1, so naturally it's become troubling. We have also heard that she was dead a few times since she was lost and yet her scent and reliable sightings have turned up.
Perhaps the AC's that are being consulted are just not really tuning into her, maybe there's too many dogs or static energies in NYC for them to zone in on soley her vibrations, I don't know. All I know is that I would welcome anywhere near a 40% accuracy from anyone of them, but thus far it's been zilch and so I stick to common sense, knowledge, logical deduction, reason and facts when trying to determine where she might be or where she might go next.
In addition, as I previously posted I do have concerns that all the AC's being consulted for Vivi may not be legitmate. Unfortunately this is a field that does get a high amount of phonies, consider how many Harry Houdini exposed as frauds back in his day. Given this I would only consider giving credence to a psychic that has been used with high success by police investigators and even then I'd keep in mind that there is a 60% chance of error.
Hoping this has made my position clearer.
Lois B you hit the nail on the head. Fewer were complaining because the operation was transparent and communicated and the results were immediately reported if in a summary. No one was mocked or crticized for asking questions and consequently those doing the work felt respected. It makes all the difference. Plenty have commented on the short nature of the trip. Expectations were not unrealistically raised. They said what they found, where they found it and acknowledged the fallibility of the process. They didn't claim they were 98% right. There were vast differences and you see the results of the PROCESS. It's a study in management of any project.
Diane, I was putting down my thoughts on possibilities, that's all. There must be thousands of people a day who drive on that Van Wyck who are just passing through. And it leads in part from JFK airport !
Bonnie has already reported what Laura and Sam said. In fact two days after they left. And the difference between Laura, Sam & Harry is that they went to areas where they were asked to go with the help of the foot soldiers and Harry chose not to. Hmmmm. Wonder why? I believe Harry knew coming in what his conclusion would be. It's all about the money with him and with Laura and Sam it was all about trying to find ViVi. And also, please tell the ones that don't post on the blog who help ViVi thank you.
I've been reading this site and sometimes contributing since Feb.I've seen all you wonderful people pull together and accomplish some amazing things so I need to ask for some help. I have an urgent request for help. Our animal clinic has gotten in 11 mini Dachshunds (all coat types, all ages) from an elderly person who is now hospitalized and won't be returning home. Her financial situation is not good so there isn't $ to board them there for long. We are authorized to adopt or foster (whatever we can do) and the longer we take puts the older ones in jeopardy of being euthanized. They are mostly unspayed females (some spayed) ages ~1.5 years to senior and the older ones have some manageable health issues (heart murmurs, thyroid, bad teeth). They are ALL happy little dogs that just want someone to love them and love back. They are at least partially house trained and have been through a lot. (extreme neglect, deplorable conditions and horrors that I won't go into).
Please pass the word on and I welcome all inquiries and suggestions. Dachshund Rescue in NJ has been notified and thus far has not been a great resource. Our clinic: Country Lakes Animal Clinic in Mine Hill, NJ 973-584-1836
We have a Petfinder site.
Thank you so much for your help. I know these dogs personally and this is killing me.
I don't know how to include a picture. My favorite, Hazel, is on our petfinder site.

Diane -- how do you explain that Harry's dog got a "hit" at a searcher's house? You're all about odds and probability. What is the probability a tracking dog would get a hit at a searcher's house? Isn't that a good question? I'd like to know that one.
Darlene specifically told me that five ACs agreed that Vivi had died. I don't know what they are saying now. Have they changed their minds? Was it another dog? Do they even know? Michael, who has years of experience searching for dogs and who I consult on a regular basis, has no faith in animal communicators. He says in all the years he has been involved in searches they have never, not ONCE, been correct.
Hey bloggers I stepped up to the plate and offered
to take 2 of the doxies. Come on girls they need
our help, they are needlenose hounds. I have several
senior citizens looking for small companion dogs.
As for why Harry made such a short trip, and why he was unannounced, has anyone considered the possibility that Harry may have come to NYC for one reason alone -- to confirm that Vivi had already been re-captured? When he confirmed that information, he left. Obviously, he would have to arrive unannounced and would not be able to coordinate his search with the locals, in that case. I don't know if this is true, but as I go over everything I've put together, it's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.
Vivi has been living in a wooded area now for many months. She has not had the proper diet, no heartworm medication, no flea or tick medication. I would wager to say she is becoming anemic at this point from tick infestation. I find it hard to believe this little dog could still be running at 45 miles and hour and jumping 5 ft fences, but who knows, she has defied nature already.
As for the tracking dogs staying such a short time, it was disheartening but beggers can't be choosers and I was under the impression the time was donated. No way can you compare this to Harry's tactics and the amount of money he was paid. Goes to show you don't always get what you pay for and sometimes cheaper is better. At least they got out of the car and walked and let their dogs track.
We are contacting DOT and Sanitation regularly so they can notify us if they find a body. If a searcher is looking for a body then they are looking for Vivi. No matter where that idea came from.
I think IF she got a hit a searcher's house it is because she is trained to search for humans primarily and she recognized that human scent from the park where that searcher had been posting right before Harry got there.
We have to search for her on all 3 fronts- she's stolen/adopted or dead or still out there. I personally believe the latter. No one has the answers. Pick the one you believe and help if you want. If you don't believe the AC's forget that. I don't personally and am pursuing most the one I think is true. Because nothing can be proven or disproven at this point I won't argue with those trying to prove a different theory.
But whichever you chose to believe we need to work together, stay positive and look for creative solutions. Please.
None of you have any idea what Harry's tactics were...so how can you criticize? Is it because YOU weren't told? It isn't about you! It NEVER has been and NEVER will be. It's about VIVI. Seems to me there are several people that need to be reminded of this. If people's feelings are hurt because they weren't included in the deal, too bad. As I will state over and over again...it's all about VIVI.
Right, I agree. Harry came with a theory and looked for information to support it. Doesn't part of theory proving involve ruling out other competing possibilities? It's a classic way that an investigation of any kind fails. The investigator becomes wedded to one theory and can't see the others- whether it is a plane crash cause or an epidemic of food poisoning or a crime, which his conclusion charges (with "96% accuracy"). This is a failure of process. I don't see how you can make a credible case using such a faulty process.
Excuse me Lois...but we were the first to contact Harry..we know what his tactics were. Get off your "high horse" for once. The song, "True Colors" comes to mind.
Pls lets leave Harry out of this blog. He only
incites anger. Remember its about VIVI
Your right. It was about ViVi and not about Harry's ego
Why is Harry being brought up AGAIN if this is supposed to about Vivi?
Yes. Lois B said she was happy we were back focused on Vivi, so let's try to agree and keep it there.
Animal lovers, some wonderful events occurred for animals. And good news Sharon and others from Michigan, those mourning doves will be safe. Read below:
I have remarkable and historic news to convey! In what is a landmark day for animals, voters in Arizona and Michigan cast their ballots in favor of animals on Election Day.
Your HSUS has been a leader in passing ballot initiatives in past years to ban cockfighting, steel-jawed leghold traps and other body-gripping traps, bear baiting, hound hunting, and gestation crates. Now, we have achieved two remarkable wins for animals that will affect the lives of millions of animals, and we are so grateful to the people of Arizona and Michigan for leading the way and to our supporters who make our work possible.
Michigan voters stepped up for mourning doves, crushing Proposal 3 on the ballot and restoring the 100-year tradition of protecting the state's official bird of peace from target shooting. The vote was 68 percent to 32 percent. The Humane Society of the United States spearheaded the effort to protect mourning doves, from garnering more than 1,000 endorsements to relentlessly canvassing the state in support of the issue. Michigan voters listened, and the gentle backyard songbird will remain safe from target shooters.
In Arizona, humane treatment of farm animals won the day when voters cast their ballot in favor of Proposition 204, which bans gestation crates for breeding pigs and veal crates for young calves. Agribusiness and other special interests spent $2.5 million to defeat Proposition 204. It is the second state in the nation to ban gestation crates and the first state to ban veal crates. The vote was 61 percent in favor and only 39 percent opposed.
Harry Oakes did not go to NYC with an "agenda". He gathered the information he needed beforehand and started the search immediately after arriving. He was well informed and methodical. "Valorie" is a pro. There was no "secret mission". Simply put, dogs don't lie. You don't have to accept his findings. Or agree. Clearly, different people have different opinions about Vivi. You can't kill the messengers. There was no predetermined case scenario. Absence of knowledge as it pertains to the events is no good reason for substituting fiction for fact.
Having said that, there is no reason for anyone to attack Lois, Beth, or anyone that does not agree with your personal opinions.
This IS about Vivi.
Diane K-M: hello there, dearie - things good today? NO hits were at the searcher's homes so just knock off the lying... I SHOULD KNOW, now shouldn't i, Diane??????? damn shame the saint bernards and the akita weren't out that day.... cut the crap already - it's over and done and ridiculous. as for the AC's, actually there were 5-7 of them - get the facts straight. and, no, i am NOT revealing their names. so, get over that as well. as for Vivi, anyone who would like to fly in this weekend and help us post and search - feel free. it's been done by many before so have at it.
girls - we ae still going out to cover the interesting areas we found on sat. hopefully without the dog's risk of being killed we can nose around the expressway and see what we can come up with.
Debra - there are 11 of them??? wow. is there a rescue in your area? let's see what we can do here. let me get a hold of the "crew" and we will brainstorm. how long do we have to try????
