Don't let negativism get to you - only positive thots will get our girl back home. Darlene - I don't know what we would all do without your daily dose of wienies and liverwurst! I don't know if any of you even remembers me, but I am always here. All of you volunteers are in my prayers every day. Also, a post note, I was reading that even tho Whippets turn feral soon after they are out on their own, it only takes a short time before they are back to their sweet, couch potato selves again! I hope this is true.

Hello New York area residents-- the Little Shelter is holding an adopt-a-thon and Blessing of the Animal Ceremony next Saturday, August 19th-- could anyone go and bring posters. I like many of you contributed to this group last Spring, and I have emailed them with a copy of all the latest flyers, I also asked them to contact me, and I would tell them how to help this Saturday. Haven't heard if anyone is coming but will let you know.

Still ready here nearly daily and pray for Vivi continually. Keep up the good work, guys, I have NO doubt Vivi will be home soon. Blessings to you all.

I haven't posted as much as I used to back in February but there isn't a day that goes by that I haven't checked the sites to see if our little roamer is finally in the arms of a rescuer. Back in February I posted the date of Vivi's birth and the fact that she was a mom, and I remember Darlene made the comment that she and Vivi shared the same birth sign. Darlene said that if Vivi's personality was true to her sign she would be a tough one to catch. Darlene, how right you were!!! But back then who would have thought that Vivi would still be wandering in August.
Let's pray that she stays put and sets up a little haven for herself in Forest Park.

Another comfortable night last night for Barbaro (thursday night). Peter just called and had just spoken to Michael. He sounded pretty upbeat. A little delayed, but good news nonetheless! Here is a good short article: BARBARO CONTINUES TO MEND (Ed Fountaine who has cited this web-site in an earlier report) a quick update, rehashing the press release from yesterday, with this tidbit at the end:

Barbaro's trainer, Michael Matz, was upbeat at Saratoga yesterday, noting that, although one of the screws in the Derby champ's fracture was broken, the bones appear to be mending well and the pastern joint is fusing. "We just have to keep our fingers crossed," he said.

The broken screw is not of concern as far as I am aware.

I don't remember if I had posted this before or not about a greyhound named Otis that was very badly treated by his owner and had to be put down. His owner has yet gone to trial. This recent post came to me - please write a letter.

Wheels of justice move slow. At the end of August the Judge will decide whether the alleged perpetrator should go on trial or be deemed
mentally incompetent. We want him to stand trial. Currently he is in protective custody. The lawyer is asking that people all over the country (world)
send letters again saying that Wayne Dean should stand trial and be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I know many of you already wrote letters and Im asking to please write again.

More about Otis: His father was Smoldering Torch, a non-neutered hound that somehow went to this family. Smoldering Torch mated with a female
boxer and thats where the mix comes in. Otis was never neutered and when PACC searched Wayne Deans property, they found a box with a dead female and 9 puppies.

EXACTLY!! I watch the animal precinct shows at times and my boyfriend once said I missed my calling - that I should have been an animal cop. Then he thought about it and said nevermind - you'll shoot the whole household even before finding out what happened to the animal. And he's absolutely right!
