In a field of stiff competition, Archie the Chinese crested from Arizona won the 2006 Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif., on June 23.
Though online voting indicated the favorites to be Munchkin and Pee-Wee, out-of-stater Archie (he's from Arizona) out-repulsed the four judges, whose opinions were ultimately the only ones that mattered.
Perhaps the contest's most famous competitor was Sam, its three-time undefeated winner until his death this June at age 15. Also a crested -- the breed dominates at ugly-dog contests nationwide -- Sam's oft-circulated photo was believed by many viewers to be a hoax because presumably no dog could be that ugly. Actually, he was.

These guys are not ugly-they are misunderstood little dogs that are unique. and perhaps a bit strange looking. But when I discovered them when the AKC accepted them a few years ago when they started showing I saw just how cute they are. Each dog is beautiful in their own way.
But I cud've guessed another one of these little buys wud win ugliest of the year again.

The dog is a Chinese Crested..He's old, his tongue is hanging out..I think he's cute. Seems like every year the Cresteds are voted the ugliest. I love em...poor naked little things.
