Because pets CAN drive ...

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A police dog that was left in a pickup with the engine running apparently knocked the vehicle into gear and ran down a woman who was walking to her mailbox.

Mary F. Stone, 41, was expected to remain hospitalized with a fractured pelvis and tailbone until at least Friday, said her husband, Paul Stone.

The dog, a German shepherd named Ranger, had been left in the truck while its handler responded to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday, police Lt. Loring Draper said. The truck’s engine was on so Ranger would have air conditioning.

Draper said Ranger must have hit the shift on the steering column, putting the automatic transmission into gear. As the truck slowly rolled forward, police officers yelled to Stone, but she couldn’t get out of the way in time, he said.

A front and rear tire ran over her. “She had tire marks on her clothes,” her husband said.

The truck then went through the Stones’ yard and struck a vehicle in the driveway.

Draper said police were trying to determine if there might have been some malfunction that would have allowed the gear shift to be moved easily.

Sedona,

Just wondering, do you sense anything about biggy and sniffles? Those little fur buddies have been out there for a while, too. I hope they all find shelter from the storm tonight.

Another lost one sent our way from Prayers for Pets.

Another lost dog-- Afghan Hound, also sent on from Prayers for Pets. Aren't Afghans sight hounds, too?
Anyone from Kentucky?
Hello all, I've just returned from another trip to California, and
tragedy has happened while I was away.
Please forward and cross post to anyone who can help.

I left Hosanna Precious Gift
www.hosanna1.com/Hounds/SamsonXTasha/Precious.html
(she's mom of 2 of the 3 Chs we finished last year
www.hosanna1.com/Hounds/PreciousPuppies/ - also mom of Hosanna
Supernatural Rainbow (Misty) who's pics I shared recently
www.hosanna1.com/Hounds/MemorialPuppies/ ) with a professional handler
while I was away. She won a point 2 of the days of the Warren County and
Lima, Ohio shows July 1 weekend (BOW & BOS).

No one called and told me until I was on my way home, but a week ago last
Thursday, July 6 (my birthday : (((((), she ESCAPED from the handler's
home, and she is still missing!

Please, ANYONE who may be in the area, we need help to find her. A
REWARD is offered for information that leads to her recovery, or
information about what happened to her.

She was last seen a week ago (Saturday, July 8), off Hwy 704, about a mile
south of the junction with Hwy 55, near Columbia, Kentucky.

I just got home last night, and after 22 hour drive didn't even go home,
went to Columbia and rode around until 11pm looking. It's a rural area, and
lots of woods.

Here is a link to a MapQuest of Columbia, KY

For those who can't get the picture, you can use the link, and can zoom to
the perspective needed.

Here is a close up composite MAP of the area, showing where she was lost
and sighted:

Please cross post, and if you are anywhere near this area, PRINT the
composite map and post on local bulletin boards. If you can help search,
PLEASE do. I am VERY VERY worried about our Precious.

Just a note for those on lists - I hope I don't hear or see ANY unkind
remarks about the handler. This is her worst nightmare as well as mine.

Please forward and cross post to anyone who can help. There are many
lists, with nice folks who might be able to help, that I am not on

For any who may have emailed me in the past couple of weeks while I was
gone, I'm still about 900 emails behind, and now have priority to find
Precious. Please be patient.

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Good Morning Daddy God. We lift up our hearts to you this morning. There are so many who need prayer. Daddy God, we so need you to bring these babies home to their owners. We ask you to strengthen, nourish and shelter Vivi, Biggie, Sniffles,Rags, Little Ausie, Mommy Dog, Holly, Precious and Buddy. Daddy God, all of this has come about because of little Vivi. Because of her, you have brought all of us together and many have been delivered by your hands. Daddy God, please let this be the day that Vivi is rescued. We long for her to be home. And we long for all these beatiful creatures that you have created to be brought into their homes with their warm cozy beds and plenty of love and nourishment. You are our Daddy of great and mighty miracles. We ask for your intervention in all of these situations. Daddy God continue your miraculous healings in McGee, CJ, Dante, Topper, Felice, Max, Murphy, Mylie, Barbaro, Gunner and Chippers. Jesus, let your gentle healing touch flow through Pam, Lance,JL, Baby Girl, Madison and Kathleen. Take all pain, sickness and disease away from the midst of us. Keep all of us and all of your creatures in the shelter of your heart. Bless the mighty army of rescuers you have brought together. They are ever diligent, They never complain. They labor through heat and wind, cold and rain. Protect them Daddy and hold them in your arms as you lead them to the "meeting place" to bring these babies home. We thank you for all the blessings and miracles you have so freely given to us each day. We thank you for drawing us ever closer to you and for teaching us your ways. Flood us with your glory and deliverance. Protect beloved Israel and our country from all evil. Destroy all evil that attempts to confront all of us and all of your creatures with your glorious light. We look to you and you alone Daddy God. We love you so. We are your children. Let this be the day Daddy God..Let this be the day indeed...In Jesus's Name we pray...Amen

If the Lord be with us, we have no cause to fear. His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayers...Andrew Murray

Please pray specifically for Barbaro's hoof to heal completely and that no further laminitis will occur in his other hooves.

Update 272: The following New York Times article: Veterinarian Says Barbaro Needs to 'Regrow His Foot' focuses on a key issue for Barbaro's recovery. The following are quotes from Dr. Richardson:

"He has to, basically, regrow his foot," Richardson said. "That's the whole issue. Can we get enough hoof growth that he will be comfortable? And that's going to take months. If we can keep him comfortable with the various things that we are doing while this is occurring, we have a shot. Horses have regrown feet before. He wouldn't be the first horse to do it. But his hurdles are higher than others because we still have issues with his right hind leg."

and

"You have to get the horny part, or hard part, of his hoof to grow back down on top of the bone," Richardson said. "Then you have something for the horse to walk on. No one is claiming that the horse has a high probability of getting a normal foot. The hope is to get him something comfortable enough that he can walk on.

"Everybody has had a few successes with this. That doesn't make it easy and it doesn't mean that this particular horse is going to be one of the ones to make it. Anybody who does this type of work will have the occasional horse that everybody considers at the time a miracle. That's the nature of this type of work.

"If you really stick it out, some of them make it. But the overall numbers are such that I can't be excessively sanguine about his chances. This is a serious problem."

Kathleen
Did you ever get the results of all the different states that have posted to the blog?

Any news on that possible sighting of Vivi in the area of Woodhaven & Metropolitan?? The suspense is making me crazy. Last night's storm was pretty bad. I prayed for it to be over and that our little waifs were out of the rain. Does everybody else feel something's in the air?? I'm hoping it's our lost babies. PS: The Puppy pictures were wonderful!

Virginia - I feel something also - don't know what it is but have a good, peaceful feeling for some reason - hope it means something good.

The puppy pictures are so cute and I LOVE the names - naming them after trees is such a kewl idea :)

So we have Holly, Maple, Hickory, Elmer, Chestnut, Spruce, Tyson, Crystal and ?????

If Vivi was sighted near Woodhaven and Metropolitan then my guess is she's found a haven in St John's Cemetary. Most of my family is buried there and it's very quiet and beautiful. It also has really good fences. Grandma Rose is buried by the fence at Woodhaven & Cooper. I'm sure she's looking out for her

Any word on the lost whippet Holly that was lost in new mexico/utah?

Betty and Sharon - Thank you again for your wonderful prayers. Betty, thank you for the prayer for our health, but you forgot yourself. God, please bring Betty Your wonderful healing comfort and wellness also. Thank you.

I really feel incredibly better Betty, so I know your prayers and others are being answered.

Kay, I did not get very many city, states, names, and zips from people. I think I got about 10. I still have the file, so everyone please send me your info so I can build a neat graphic to show all the regions for the Vivi bloggers.

I was just wondering. Is this area around Woodhaven and Metropolitan in any way similar to the areas Sedona has been seeing or the bridge under construction that she mentioned (Bronx-Whitestone I believe it was)? If so, could someone check these areas?

Hi Kathleen - This is my old neighborhood. There is a large overpass nearby that could be construed as a bridge. St Johns is an old cemetary and has many trucks that care for the parklands. Also, there is an Underpass a few blocks away that runs alongside Forest Park in the vacinity of the horse stables.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Glendale,+NY&ie=UTF8&ll=40.711809,-73.862286&spn=0.029277,0.085831&om=1

This is a map of the Glendale vacinity. St John's cemetary seems like a logical place

Virginia,

What is your grandmother's last name?

I wonder if they caught the lost Whippet in Utah?????? Any one know?????

I do feel that Vivi is going to hang around the same area of the cemetary for awhile, but I sense she may move into the parks later.

I don't know what I was getting yesterday, and bridges tend to all look alike. You are right it could be an overpass, because I only sense something rising above the ground and going up high. But I did sense water that is why I thought of it as a bridge. Do kids fish in the lakes and ponds in the parks????

I will be around today and then I'm going on a short vacation. As always, Vivi is in my prayers.

God Bless.

Someone asked me about Biggie and Sniffles. I will do a mediation on them over my vacation and post back.

I've always thought Biggie was being held by someone who is not giving him up that his owner may know or know of. Poor Sniffles. I will post what I get.

God Bless.

Did Ashley ever make it to look at the dog that was thought to be Sniffles? Wasn't someone going to try to hook up with Ash and take her there? The dog was at the place, wherever that is, weeks ago.I'd be there if I had to roller skate there as fast as possible!

Hey all you lovely , caring, compassionate wonderful people... Darlene you are AWESOME to take on those pups. I would have done the same thing, not that my boyfriend would like it , but I've done it before and would do it again if I was in that situation. So MAYBE Vivi was sighted huh? Well I hope so , like I said, Vivi is on a mission... she just keeps going and going... Still keepin' the faith.
I hope we can spread our prayers to the family that was told their dog was found dead last night. It was hung off a tree, thats the news I woke up to this morning and it made my day very, very sad. This is the 2nd time someone has done this. I told my boyfriend today we are putting a lock on the door to the back yard area where the dogs stays . He's never out when we are not home but I have be extra cautious, no one is coming to steal my dog and do that crap. $2,000 reward, and 2 years in jail to the person(s) who did this. I was so sick yesterday and thought today I'd feel better, NOT, this makes me emotionally sick . It could be a cult, or a dog that was used for bait in the pitbull fighting, they don't know yet, and honestly I don't want to hear anything else about it until the person is caught. It was a small dog a terrier of some kind , I am utterly sickend by this event and hope for that family to find out who did this to a member of their family. I hope payback is what they say it is when they find whoever did this.

Chrissy - That is so awful. I will certainly pray for this family. Don't worry though, God will deal with a person like this. His vengence will take care of this type of issue I'm sure.

Ruby - Darlene was such a dear (as always). She was even trying to hook up with Ashley to take her to see this dog. I think the problem is Ashley making the time to do so. I wonder if someone could contact the new owners and ask them to use the name Sniffles and see if he will respond to the name at all or maybe try Ashley's voice over the phone at least and see his response. Just a suggestion.

Virginia - Thanks for the info on Glendale and the maps.

Now about those names for the pups. My neighborhood has names of streets after trees. I live on "Lace Bark Cove." Now wouldn't "Lace Bark" have been a cute name for a little dog!

Has anyone heard about the Whippet in Utah? I had a vision of a dog being put in a crate, wire, it seems, and riding in a car for a long trip. I just wondered if it was the lost Utah Whippet?

It wasn't Vivi, of course...

Barbaro continues to remain in stable condition - Keep up the prayers

Chief of Surgery Dean Richardson reports that Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro remains in stable condition with good vital signs today. "Barbaro spends several hours a day in a sling, which he has adapted to very well," said Dr. Richardson.

Slings, which were originally designed for rescuing horses, are now common in the treatment of horses with conditions that include neurological problems or muscular skeletal injuries. They have been in use for many years for long-term management of a horse's movement. "We have a lot of experience in using slings for equine support," said Dr. Richardson. "In Barbaro's case, it is a part-time aid that we use to increase his comfort level."

Horse stables in the area? Oh for sure, Vivi sniffs out the horses. I just know she does.

Yes, I am glad Barbaro is stable. Chrissy what a horrible story, my thoughts are with the owner. NYC has had awfully high temperatures, and I have heard of power failures besides. All you foot soldiers keep cool, you have my admiration. Come on VIVI find a nice volunteer she will take you to an air conditioned place, and call your Mom.

I just think this story sums it up a lot for me - why do we feel like we do about Barbaro? Phil Taylor of SI writes.......

You are not alone. The rest of us feel it too -- the need to stop what we're doing and pay attention, at least for a moment, every time we hear Barbaro's name in a news report or see it in a headline.

There is something about this horse and his fight for life that touches us. Every update brings either a sense of dread, that the end has arrived, or of relief, that he just might survive after all.

It surprises you a bit, doesn't it? That you care this much? After all, you really don't know Barbaro. You may be one of the millions of sports fans who had never heard of him before he won the Kentucky Derby in May. Or maybe you first became aware of him when he snapped his right hind leg two weeks later in the Preakness, which led to the laminitis, the painful tissue inflammation that now threatens his life.

But still, you pause when you see his name appear on the ticker across the bottom of your TV screen with a strange feeling in the pit of your stomach, as you fear the worst while you hope for the best.

For a week after his initial injury, The New York Times ran daily updates on his condition. All over the country people kept vigil or put up shrines to Barbaro. When it appeared that the end was near last week, it was the lead story on the nightly sports news broadcasts around the country, just as it was when his condition abruptly improved a few days later.

Why is that? Why has this horse who was just an image on a screen to most of us tapped into our emotions this way? After all, human tragedy takes place every day and most of us simply shake our heads and move on. Even in the toy department of sports, boxers and race car drivers die. Young athletes are cut down in their prime by drive-by shootings or sudden failures of their seemingly perfect bodies. It's odd that a beast, even a magnificent one, draws so much of our concern.

But maybe that's the point. Barbaro isn't human, so he exhibits none of the human failings that disappoint us in our athletes and coaches. He never put his hoof in his mouth like Ozzie Guillen, or fell in love with himself like Terrell Owens. He never held out for more money, stiffed us for an autograph, tangled with the authorities or coasted when he should have been playing hard. In fact, he gave all of himself, competing almost to the point of destruction. How could any fan ask for a more noble competitor?

So we keep a good thought for Barbaro, knowing that he didn't sign up for this. This isn't Ben Roethlisberger paying dearly for a choice he made, not to wear a motorcycle helmet. Barbaro was just dutifully doing what he was bred to do, going where he was guided. He would never have been out there, blazing around the track, if we, in a sense, had not put him there. Perhaps our concern for his well-being is partly out of guilt.

But mostly it is because we know that Barbaro deserved better than this. Competitors who perform so valiantly and so well are supposed to be rewarded, not saddled with life-threatening injury. If there was ever an athlete who had earned a better fate, it is Barbaro. Despite the current optimism from the medical team treating him, there is still no guarantee that this will end well for him.

So don't think you're odd for caring this much about a horse, or for crossing your fingers or saying a little prayer the next time he crosses your mind. Like a horse in full gallop, his mane flying in the wind, it's the most natural thing in the world.

Thank you Kathy for posting this about Barbaro. What a beautiful writer Phil Taylor is! He just cut through all the red tape, and hit the nail on the head exactly.

The only thing I could add is because Barbaro is such a valiant and beautiful creature of God teaching us all such beautiful and wonderful lessons on life. Barbaro will always be the champion in my mind and heart of EVERY race!

"VIVI STATUS QUO" NEW POST

Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe. -- Saint Augustine

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -- Hebrews 11:1

Creator God, some may see only Vivi's injury in all this, and yet, we may choose to believe, it is through this injury that You will bring Vivi, at long last, home to Jil. You, Compassionate Shepherd will show us what we have believed all along-- that You love all of us, and it does matter that our faith in You will be changed and increased by the return of this beautiful and feisty girl. You have used this disappearance of Vivi to make us more aware of the help we need to provide for lost and homeless animals. Continue Your care and protection for Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles, and also for Buddy,Rags, Precious Hosanna,Annie, Holly, Little Aussie, and our cemetary puppies' Mama. You have caused Your wonderful volunteers to adopt cats, kittens, dogs, and now 9 (full of beans) puppies. You have brought us together to pray for Your sick animals such as Barbaro, CJ.,Chippers, Dante, Trotter,Gunner,Max, Murphy, Felice,Mylie, and McGee. We praise You for the healing that is taking place in them, and ask You to continue to Your Miracles in this group we love. We have prayed for the ill among us Madison, Baby Girl, Pam, JL, and Lance. Continue Your miraculous healing in Your people. We have mourned together the loss of many of our companion animals, most recently Kelly,Nell, Yoda, Scoops, Jade, Thunder, and all our animal companions, who have gone to wait with You, since the beginning of the Vivi saga. (Please let Your angels fill in the names of any I might have missed-- the list has grown so long Father.) Be with all who mourn a loss of any sort, and support them with Friends and Your love. Thank You for the support we have felt from one another. Take into Your arms all people and animals who will join at the Gates of Paradise tonight! Reward all of our family and friends who are already there! We owe such a debt of gratitude for those who have sacrificed time, finances, and safety to look for these babies. Bless them "real good"! Keep them in Your protection, and guide them with Your Saints and Angels! Bless abundantly all who perform the difficult job of "rescue worker". Bless all of our vets with Your wisdom and skill. We pray with confindance Author of Creation that Your bring to a happy ending the Vivi story. Increase our faith and let us grow in Your life. Do not lose any of us, but bring us together (with our animal buddies) one day in Heaven. Let Vivi, Biggie, Sniffles, and the "Lost" animals, and all of us sleep peacefully, as we turn over the night watch to you. We know YOU ARE IN CHARGE!!! AMEN!

Psalm 91
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Allmighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; not for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; there shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near
your dwelling, for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shall you trample under feet. (And God says) Because He has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver Him, I will set him on high, because he has known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. Will long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.

Daddy God, I bring this scripture forth as a prayer for all your children on this blog. I bring this forth as a prayer for all your creatures. We need you Daddy God and we have faith in you. We ask you to use this injury that Vivi has to slow her down and bring her to a rescuer. We know that you speak to your creatures Daddy. This was proven in Noah's Ark. They heard your voice and they went where you led them. We ask you today Daddy God to speak again to these babies. Vivi, Sniffles, Biggie, Rags, Little Ausie, Holly, Precious Hosanna, Mommy Dog and Buddy. Speak to them Daddy and tell them where to go to be rescued. Deliver them with your Mighty and Glorious hand. Take all fear away from them and give them Your Spirit of love, power and a sound mind. Remove all confusion and show them the way to be delivered. Your mighty army of rescuers are standing by and are ready to go into action on the behalf of your creatures. Help them to conquer the mission you have set them out to do. Continue your miraculous healing in Barbaro. Protect him from any infections and grow his hoof back to perfection. We are not asking for mere comfort Daddy God. We are asking for the complete manifestation of your healing and Glory for all the world to see. Continue your miraculous healing in CJ, Dante, Topper,Felice, Max, McGee, Murphy, Mylie, Gunner and Chippers. We ask for your miraculous continuous healing in Pam, Madison,Baby Girl,JL, Lance and Kathleen. We are not in this half way Daddy God. We are in this whole heartedly, in completeness and total deliverance. We have seen your deliverance. We have tasted your sweet victory. We cling to you Daddy with all our strength and all our might. Strengthen us more in your Holy Spirit. Destroy all evil with your Glorious Light and Power. Protect beloved Israel and our country. Bring your peace and comfort to the family who's precious dog was murdered. Avenge his blood Daddy God. It is a fearful thing to be in the shoes of one who murders your creation. We bind Satan from interfering in the situations and the lives we have brought before you. Cover all of us under your wings as we go through this day filled your Power and the Miracles of our Savior Jesus. In Jesus's Name we pray...Amen

God said it. That settles it. I believe it. Anonymous

Kathleen, I'll pray for you. You pray for me. And we will both be healed...Love, Betty

Betty and Sharon - You must definitely have my prayers each day. I go to bed about 30 minutes earlier now so I can just lay there, be still, and talk to God about all these things we need help with.

He probably is saying this child's list is getting way to long, we need to get busy and resolve some of these. Sure hope so.

Love Kathleen and Tinkerbell
