Bonnie Folz calls to share the following details about the Saturday Vivi search:
Volunteers are asked to assemble at Peck Park (Utopia Parkway and Peck Avenue) at 6 a.m. sharp for orientation. Volunteers will receive an information packet containing, among other things, a map and a specific protocol to follow when Vivi is sighted.
Some volunteers will be given stationary locations, while others will be "floaters."
The protocol for a Vivi sighting will be to contact Vivi's owner Jil Walton to come to the location, all the while slowly, casually and cautiously keeping the dog in sight. "Floaters" will be repositioned around the perimeter of the sighting while those in stationery posts are required to stay at their posts in the event Vivi runs their way.
This cannot be overstated: What is needed on Saturday are volunteers who can show much-needed restraint in the event of a Vivi sighting and allow Jil to approach the dog without any interference or histrionics.
Volunteers will be given a specially colored ribbon to tie to their car antennae so they can be instantly recognizable to one another. They will also be supplied with bait such as hot dogs (or, ideally bring your own).
For those who plan to arrive later, Bonnie will be at the Peck Park location all day to distribute info packets and assignments.

Which one of the phone numbers on the flyer is Jil's?
Please ask yourself this question-
ARE YOU DOING EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO FIND VIVI??
To the volunteers who have made it their mantra to look day and night for her, THANK YOU. You are respected immensely for your concern and effort.
To the rest of us who are far way, instead of spending time checking the blog ...how about helping the effort from where you are by calling food stores, movies theatres, restaurants, fast food joints, schools... places where lots of people congregate, you name it and asking people to be on the Vivi lookout (especially if flyers are being pulled down)? Many spend much time chatting on this blog. Is that the most productive way to help find Vivi? This search has only a FINITE amount of time!!!
Think about this (especially those with whippets or other dogs), if your dog was lost (that means freezing, starving, afraid, displaced) what productive actions would you be taking to ensure you did everything in your power to aid in the recovery?
Please don't take offense. Much gain has been made by collective effort: flyers made and sent, money generously donated, dog trackers secured, news attention generated, afundraiser established, and numerous prayers asked. Yet, she is still not found and a lot of time is WASTED DAILY in silly banter. Surely there is still more to do so others are aware she is alive in Flushing.
If this doesn't apply to you, forget it. But if it might apply, think about ways you would want people helping you if Vivi was your dog.
Just a thought - the People on the blog including myself are making calls alot of these people do not live in NY I for one live in Calif. PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME SUCH NEGATIVITY YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING MOST OF THEM ARE MAKING POSTERS AND FED-EX THEM TO NY.
GO AWAY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY POSITIVE INPUT OR FAITH IN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THIS BLOG
SIRI-CA
HERE HERE SIRI-CA I agree. I don't live in NY either but I was on the phone all day and emailing newspapers and tv stations to try and keep the posters up. While I was at work I might add. If I didn't follow the blog I wouldn't know who to call there. This blog is an enormous help to us out of towners.
Interesting that the blogger with no name took the time away from helping Vivi to blog. Talk about calling the kettle black.
Gail in CT
I think that this blog is what has kept this story growing and kept it in the interest of the country. Some of us on the west coast checking this blog have made telephone calls to NY, sent flyers, and contributed money. This is about all that we can do from other parts of the country, and this blog has provided daily updates, etc. A lot of suggestions have been made from other parts of the country and we feel pretty helpless. Some people are expressing their frustration via ranting, humor, silliness, etc. We all want the dog back home, and we shouldn't take some of this blog stuff too serious..
Where is everybody today? And where is Vivi?
Where is everybody today? And where is Vivi?
Maybe surrounding areas, other than the Cemetery, need to be quizzed - investigated - North, South, East, and West?
I POSTED INFO ON PRINT PET COUPONS ALSO ABOUT THE SEARCH ON SATURDAY. VIVI PLEASE GO TO THEM SO YOU CAN GO HOME!!!!!
I think I read in one of the blogs or releases - Vivi will come to people on her own terms - that is what is so frustrating - knowing that the longer she is out, the more difficult it will be.
Somebody posted yesterday about using 1-800-Doglost so that people would remember a number to call if they saw Vivi. If that doesn't work, what about establishing our own 800 number, something like 800-vivlost or 800-whippet. Just thinking...leaving for work - with no access to internet - but just wanted to get this down in case anyone thinks it's a good alternate and wants to pass it on. Vivi la Vivi! Terrie
My pet psychic friend said that she sensed Vivi might be near or in some type of marshland? Is there anything like there in New York close to where Vivi might travel. How far does a Whippet travel on a journey in one day?
Yes, all of us far away hope and pray for Vivi's return and feel so helpless too - except the send money and prayers part.
Maybe Vivi has a wide area that she travels - maybe she doesn't like the City cars - so she sleeps one place, hunts for food in another, that type of thing - they could be miles apart.
cynthia - the marshland is is kissena park - by the cemetary. bo walked the entire area and nothing. we think she is in there but when?
I sure didn't sleep well not hearing from our little VlVi yesterday. Wonder how Jil & Rick's night went. I guess they didn't see her or we would have heard something. She better pop out today.
Well - that is so comforting - if she is in or near that Marshland - still close by her other sightings. The little girl sure does not make it easy on us.
that's not the only one dear. queens is surrounded by marshlands. shea stadium is sitting basically around a marsh as well.....
It sure is quiet this morning. When we don't see our girl it sure puts everyone down. I know one thing I'm leaving in two weeks with my family to go camping not to far from Ojai and if ViVi is not captured by then It's not going to be a good camping trip. I pray, please ViVi come out whereever you are and go home with Jil
I called my friend - she said it was open marshland. Not small - but larger.
Poor little girl - this is not so easy. I guess I was just hoping and dreaming with all the people out that love her - she could be found. She will be found - I just wish it was soon for her own sake.
Well cynthia, lets just hope she is in the marshland closer to the cemetary
I hope so too. Must go - have to take care of a dog issue and then work. Hang in there you guys and gals. Vivi come home!
Is it raining/snowing in NY today??? She may be staying dry... Keep up the great work. Vivi will be home soon. The weekend is here and that means more help is on the way.........
I believe the rain will be coming in tomorrow and Sunday. I sure hope she hasn't traveled and that she is staying put around her little area
VIVI! PLEASE COME OUT and let us get you back with Jil and Rick!!!! Your friends at home miss you and love you and want you sleeping in Jil's bad again!!!
I get so depressed when there has been no sighting! Arlo and I are sending "Vivi come out vibes" every day!
Cynthia and her pet psychic friend---if Vivi has been in an area that is marshland, she would by now relate that terraine with not being as supportive environmentally as the other areas around it---the cemetery and yard areas---where there is more chance of dryer conditions and better supporting aspects like bushes and better ground. I have not psychically "seen" Vivi staying or being in one of those areas so she may have passed through, but she is beginning now to relate a little. I hope Jil takes vivi's favorite squeaker toy with her when she is out---those whippets LOVE their sqweakie toys!!!! If nothing else---play may be the medium ground to reel her in if sighted---whippets LOVE to play. But maybe your friend can help the energy group too by visioning the success of Vivi's capture and psychically help us keep her in the area.
Vivi was not seen today, do the animal communicators that are in touch get a feeling that she is resting, moving, whatever?
Best to everyone and Vivi, let's get this done!

Vivi is getting related to the area and setting up a bit of a routine (animals will do that when finding "territory", and I sense she is getting things to eat, so these are all good signs that her vitals are holding in there and if whe is feeling no threats (like the dog that barked at her the other evening when that woman almost had her in her yard), and all the energy we are generating for her and sending her way and to the area she keeps being sighted in is having a effect too. We are generating so much energy for her and the search group it's amazing!
LOVE & LIGHT to Vivi and all searchers, both human and animal...YOU'LL FIND HER, AND SHE'LL FIND YOU...never give up! IS SOMEONE camping out by the cemetery tonight, maybe walk the perimeter and take turns...I'm sure someone checked all the traps...KEEP A CACOON OF LIGHT SURROUNDING EACH OF YOU...Vivi may be drawn to your circle of light.
