Double D Contractors Inc. of Hicksville won a 2007 NARI contractor of the year award for its remodel of a kitchen. Double D, owned by Doug Dervin, won for the $30,000 to $60,000 classification.
Organization, function and storage were key components of the remodel, according to the NARI Web site. Kitchen space was enlarged, and features like a concealed laundry chute, pull-out cutting boards and spice racks were included.
