How did you get into making jewelry?
I've been crafty my whole life, so jewelry making was one of the hobbies I had as a child. I remember making friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss. It was always a challenge to see how wide I could make the bracelets. All of my friends had to have one. Most recently, I've discovered vintage plastic flowers and findings. I wanted to do something with all of those findings, so I started making jewelry for myself.
What's your best craft tip?
My best craft tip is to be organized. I work with lots of little pieces. I store them in containers according to color and/or theme. It's much easier to find what I am looking for.
Where do you find inspiration?
Colors inspire me the most. I like mixing and matching colors and materials. The combinations are endless.
What craft would you like to learn/try next?
I recently bought a sewing machine, but I have no idea how to use it. I would love to learn how to make my own clothes and accessories.
Where do you get your jewlery making supplies?
My supplies come from all over. I shop in A.C. Moore, Michael's, flea markets and garage sales, Etsy.com, and lots of online retailers.
What's your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is finding the time to do all the things that I love. I enjoy making jewelry, crocheting, painting, drawing, playing the guitar and the piano. Sometimes I feel like I am spreading myself too thin.
Any advice for beginners?
My advice for a beginner would be to have fun and have a happy and positive attitude. It definitely shows up in your creations.
Why do you love making jewelry?
I love making jewelry because I get to make other people happy. I tell my customers that "I love to send happiness in the mail." Honestly, if someone smiles because of my creations, my job is done!
