Wolffer at 20: Party on

roth.jpgThis year's harvest party on Oct. 12 at Wolffer Estate celebrates the Sagaponack winery's 20th anniversary. And it's had some very good years, as well as a few great ones with winemaker Roman Roth. The festivities include grape-picking, activities for children (yes, pony rides from the equestrian-oriented vineyard), lunch that features a Wolffer wine, a barbecue for kids, and live music. And, of course, they'll crown a Harvest Queen based, in part, on grape-stomping technique. Admission is $75 for adults, $65 for members of Wolffer's wine club; $35 for children 4 to 20, and free for children 3 years old and younger. The winery suggests advance registration, either by calling 631-537-5106 or via www.wolffer.com. Wolffer's top wines include merlot, pinot noir and a late-harvest chardonnay. Rain date is Oct. 13. Wolffer is at 139 Sagg Rd.
