Helio in the winner's circle - again.
I woke up this morning and went on a long run.
Actually, a run to the bathroom, which took me about five seconds. But in that span of time, many thoughts occurred to me about "Dancing with the Stars," and as I passed the mirror, it gave me an opportunity to continue that conversation I had with Myself yesterday. Here's an edited transcript:
ME: My God, what an awful show last night. Tacky, cheesy, gross. All those plugs for "Dance War." I think I counted fifty-nine. And the noise - Tom Bergeron shouted the whole bloody two hours. My ears still hurt. And imagine, Helio - the Mad Brazilian - winning. There's no justice in "Dancing" land, just voters who haven't got a clue.
MYSELF: Heh heh heh...well [head nodding], as a president once said, there you go again. An "awful" show? It was awe-inspiring! All that fog, and glitter. It felt like I was at the Blue Martini in Bally's Atlantic City.
ME: To each his own.
MYSELF: And what do you know about "DWTS?" You were the guy who predicted Sabrina would win. You were the guy who said a woman would win this time. You were the guy who said MARIE would win! I'm afraid there is what might be called a 'credibility gap' with your coverage of this fine program.
ME: Credibility gap!! Can I help it that the people who voted are idiots! I'm not the one who got Marie into the final rounds. Someone out there was voting for her. And if you or anyone else out there thinks Helio is a better dancer that Mel B., then there's no hope for any of you. And you've gotta be kidding about the Blue Martini, right? When were we even there...?

MYSELF: Good. Left you speechless for a change. Now, I think I'll go and watch a repeat of this wonderful show on ABC.com. I wonder if writers will get paid residuals when I do that....

Hush......Helio won because HE was the better dancer, no women voted for him because of his body or looks, thats what men do! He was a race car driver that became an awesome dancer; not a seasoned performer who became a better dancer like Mel B. We got it right for a change..hopfully what happened to Mario won't happen to anyone else and great dancing will win over o- kay dancing and popularity( Emmitt Smith should be ashamed)
Mel is a good dancer...yes...but remember the bases for the show is to take someone who is not a dancer and make them one....Mel has had dance experiences.....she is a SPICE GIRL...she has danced on stage before!
I will be shocked if another woman ever wins this show. The only reason Kelly Monaco REALLY won the first year is because she's on General Hospital, and the only thing that women love more than men is their Soaps!
Honestly, Sabrina SHOULD have won. There is no way. Did you see that dance last night? She moves like a pro (almost)! Ah well, this is why I love to hate these types of shows because it shows just how many morons really reside in America!

She took a speed skater to his heights and now a car racer to his, it's not just us women voting because of Helio's smile or tight ass. If the men can't get off there ass and vote that to darn bad, Losers !!
She is an outstanding dancer and teacher, just watch her moves and the way Helio just flows with her. He came along way.
Marie was good, however the Osmonds name should not reflect for votes as well as the Spice Girls Band.

I don't understand. Why do most people say that Mel B. was a dancer prior to DWTS? The Spice Girls barely dance. Mel B. had to learn ballroom dancing just like anyone else. She was just a fast learner as well as good memory. She had to work thrice as hard because she didn't have a huge fan base, hence being in the bottom-two at the beginning of the show.
She deserved to win, but we know that America will always vote for the underdog just because they are threatened by talent. This is how they ran down American Idol.
Why dont you all suggest to ABC not to include performers in their upcoming shows, rather than have performers be at a disadvantage. Again, Marie was a performer with absolutely no dancing talent. So, why did it take so long to vote her off?
I agree with those that said that most women were envious of Mel B. because she is "talented, smart, and very hot."

Wow! How come someone who has the responsibility of witting about a show on TV does not understand what the show is about. "Dancing with the stars" is not a show to show people that know how to dance, but a show to show how people (that are stars) do not know how to dance and can learn it so well that they can gain the judges and Americans vote.
That is why someone who did not know how to dance won the competition.
Everybody knows that Ms. Brown is used to dancing her choreographies, so Americans are not stupid to vote for someone who knew how to dance because they UNDERSTAND what the show is about.
Ah, but I find it suspect that Helio, who drives for the IRL, which is broadcast by ESPN/ABC, and is their biggest marquee name, won this. Helio has more to offer as a champion than does Mel in terms of marketing for ABC/ESPN/Disney. Its all about the dollars, and Helio could offer them more bang for their buck, plain and simple.
She should have won!!!!!
Helio and Julianne have every right to take and enjoy the trophy. They are matched up so well. I didn't think she was going to pull the win with anyone but Apolo but her talent and personality can whip anyone into dance shape. There are some fantastic dancers on the show and I really think they do a great job. I was given a ticket to see the DWTS tour this past summer and it was so great I can't put it into words. Julianne the three Joeies, Cheryl, Edyta, Kim and all the dancers put on such a beautiful show, I only wish you would sell DVD,'S of these performances. ,

Helio was already a winner before he got the trophy. I truly enjoyed his "performance" because he was showing his true self - his genuine love for people and life.
Yes, I'm also glad Marie did not win. It would have been a shame if she did...

You could have put Don Knotts out there with Julianne Hough and he would win. You can't take your eyes off this beautiful young girl. She's 19 or 20 and THAT good? I don't even remember Julianne's partner's name...Julianne won the contest. Can she act? I'd love to see her in the movies.
Americans got it wrong this time. Mel was always consistent with her dances. The show lost it creditability with me and I will not watch it any more. 2 hours of my time, just to see an annoying guy who didn't deserver to win is ridiculous, so much favoritism with this show.

Americans are stupid hello we voted for a guy not once but twice who has thousands of blood on his hands, if that’s not stupid than I don’t know what is. So maybe it’s the voting thing that we don’t understand.
I think that Mel B. and Maks should have won, although I love Helio's spirit. Helio can dance as well. Everyone says that Mel B. is an accomplished dancer and she doesn't deserve to win. She barely does hip hop with Spice Girls. Anyone can tell you that hip hop is totally different from ballroom, like Joey Fatone from last season, or even Mario Lopez. And everyone loves Sabrina (which I do too!!), but she does hip hop with Cheetah Girls and some ballroom (have you seen Cheetah Girls 2). But no one picks on her about it, only Mel B. She has been consistent through this competition and has come a long way(eventhough she messed up and "free styled the free style" as Maks said). Helio, although not consistent, but has come a long way. I'm proud of them both, as long as Marie didn't win, I'm cool. I just wanted a female to win for a change that really was good!!!
Maybe they should choose all actors and athletes next time (because most singers/entertainers have some rhythm) and see how entertained we are.
I think the final results showed that the American voting public really didn't like the crappy personality of Mel Brown, and Maks with his stupid half-shirts.

mel is a dancer alright but dwts is about BALLROOM DANCING soemthing she wasn't so all u saying about her past dance experience not being credible is b-s. Helio won bc of the HUGE FREAKIN push (3 emails a weeka dn 3 alone on monday) by INDAY CAR to its fans sponsors etc. Nice eh, but hey give the guy credit he just added to his already full of himself cocky ego. MEL B IS THE WINNER event ho ABC rigegd it to get rid of SABRINA, the REAL DEAL and threat to the 2 finalists! CONGRATS SABRINA and keep on showing them up CHEETAH GIRL and u too MEL B.
What was the deal with someone handing Helio a jug of milk when they announced him as the winner? Was the winner supposed to get the "Got Milk" campaign or something? Thanks for your help!
Helio and Julianne were enchanting...absolutely brilliant.
He feels the music, is gifted with the grace of a born dancer, along with the ability to perform & a charismatic personality.
He dances with his heart. Loved them all the way through.
I applaud all the stars & their fantastic teachers for their hard work, the trinity of entertaining judges, who give excellent and positive feedback, & the hosts for entertaining us so well! Bravo everyone.
That was far the best of the best DWTS - Was disappointed that Marie stayed in so long, rather than better dances getting eliminated. I was voting for both Helio & Mel B. They both deserved to win. Can't wait for the next round. What great entertainment!!!!!!.
I agree with Robert, "You could have put Don Knotts out there with Julianne Hough and he would win." Don't think that men don't vote, they may not admit it but we all want Julianne to win. So maybe we have to sneak off to the closet to vote on the cell phone but then there is the computer and multiple votes on every computer in the house and at work. :)
Seriously, Helio was the most improved and his personality was addicting and in most anonymous voted contests it becomes more of a personality/popularity contest than one of skill. Plus the average Joe and Jane don't do ballroom so how can they judge it.
I'd have handed that trophy to Mel B. on charisma alone, never mind her dancing rings around Helio. Sassy, tough, and funny yet humble, honest and good-natured, and gorgeous to boot, just an ideal woman all round. To think I actually had a slight aversion to her before this show on account of her being a Spice Girl, and now I might actually have to buy some of her goddam CDs!
If anyone thinks the Spice Girls are not dancers , they have obviously never seen a Spice Girls video or concert. They are better dancers than singers. Mel B charisma? She is totally void of personality. Most all of her performances were wooden and had no entertainment value or connection with the audience. Should have been Sabrina and Helio in finals.
I am not sure why everyone gets so worked up about a tv show. It's entertainment - it's not life or death. I find it funny the people who boycott it because the person they like doesn't win.That is so ridiculous. It's all preference. I didn't care for Sabrina but I still thought she was a good dancer. I never voted for her because I felt there were other people that were equally as good who had a more natural chemistry - not because they were sleeping with their partners behind the scenes. That is what I love about Julianne - she can have chemistry with a broomstick because she is just that amazing. It's all about performance. I thought Mel B was a good dancer but had a crappy attitude and Helio - you just had to love his charisma and personality and he was a good dancer to boot. It is all about who has the best overall package.
