David Cook’s pick of coronation song, “Dream Big,” was a middling power pop number with the requisite proud-proud-proud my-moment-proud theme. It would likely be a middling hit on the pop charts and Cook’s performance was, well, middling. It wasn’t really suitable for a finale, but it was radio-ready, which may suggest that Cook is looking big picture and beyond tonight.David Archuleta’s pick “In This Moment” was, again, slightly better, even if his performance wasn’t as big as it could have been, actually. His song was better for the finals, though, and he takes another round, slightly ahead on points (man, the ridiculous boxing metaphor is infectious) but with no knockout yet.
