Which is to say it's gone down in flames, according to the British press.
Over the weekend, The Sunday Mirror reported unequivocally that Robert Plant turned down an offer of £100 million -- about US$200 million -- for a Led Zeppelin world tour, which industry experts predicted could have been one of the top-grossing tours of all time.
The band stoked rumors of a tour when it reunited at London's O2 Arena late last year. But the Sunday Mirror cited "a band source" as saying that Plant prefers to concentrate on his current (and fairly modest) tour with country-bluegrass singer Allison Krauss in support of their recent album "Raising Sand." (They'll play two shows at the intimate WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden on June 10 and 11.)
According to the source, guitarist Jimmy Page was up for hitting the road, but not Plant: "Robert wanted to leave last year's concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough."
