American Idol 7: Week 2 rankings (The Guys)

david archuletaIt was a great night for the Davids, not so good for the Jasons. Though the over-the-top praise for David Archuleta’s “Imagine” was maybe a had-to-be-there kinda thing, the precocious 17-year-old really did set himself up as the frontrunner. David Cook continued to be the contestant who looks like he could start racking up big sales tomorrow, regardless of what Cowell says. And the previously underperforming David Hernandez made a big comeback personalizing “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.”

The Jasons didn’t do as well, with Castro flubbing his lines and looking lost and Yeager seeming more than a bit clueless. And Michael Johns became the one-time shoo-in who fell to earth, with a lackluster performance of a bad song choice.

David Archuleta, “Imagine”
David Cook, “All Right Now”
David Hernandez, “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”
Chikezie, “I Believe”
Michael Johns, “Go Your Own Way”
Danny Noriega, “Superstar”
Jason Castro, “I Just Want To Be Your Everything”
Jason Yeager, “Long Train Running”
Luke Menard, “Killer Queen”
Robbie Carrico, “Hot Blooded”

WILL BE CUT: Robbie and Jason Yeager
SHOULD BE CUT: Robbie and Luke (whose good looks will save him again)

ACTUALLY CUT: Robbie and Jason Yeager
