American Idol 7: Week 1 rankings (The Gals)

ramieleMaybe it was the flu that was going around, but there were loads of surprises for the first female round.

Early favorites Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook came up a bit short of expectations, which Simon Cowell was quick to point out, while Ramiele Malubay and Alexandrea Lushington stepped up their games and seized the spotlight.

It was also hard to miss that several women – especially Asia’h Epperson, Syesha Mercado and Amanda Overmeyer – took more chances with their performances than the rockingest guys, which may lead to another season where the guys get knocked out early and often once the competition is combined.
