Weekend update: Jovi, Gerard Butler, AnnaLynne McCord and more

(AnnaLynne McCord, left, and Jessica Szohr / Bill Davila, Startracks)

Visitors to the Blue Parrot in East Hampton on Saturday were in for the surprise of a lifetime when Jon Bon Jovi, a rumored investor, dropped in for an impromptu jam session. Jovi performed a bevy of his hit songs, including "Dead or Alive" and "Who Says You Can’t Go Home."

Scottie hottie Gerard Butler and NFL star Terrell Owens hit up East Hampton hotspot Lily Pond on Friday. They danced with friends, sipped on Absolut Vodka cocktails and left a little after 2 a.m.

On Saturday, Butler caught the attention of all the ladies in attendance at the Montauk Yacht Club’s "Shark Attack Sounds" party, which also celebrated the birthday of photographer Ben Watts. Butler participated in the pre-BBQ soccer game before retreating to the BBQ for burgers and Milagro Margaritas.

Young Hollywood’s current "are-they-or-aren’t-they" couple, "90210" starlet AnnaLynne McCord and "Twilight" stud Kellan Lutz, stayed in the posh waterfront bungalows at MYC and grabbed a few meals at the Gulf Coast Kitchen and Hurricane Alley on the property over the weekend.

The party continued (or never stopped) for Lutz and McCord, who attended a private BBQ with Jessica Szohr of "Gossip Girl" at the EMM Group Estate in Sag Harbor. The trio hung together in a poolside cabana will munching on Abe & Arthur burgers (Abe & Arthur is EMM Group’s newest restaurant opening in the Fall) and sipping on Perrier-Jouët champagne, who hosted the BBQ. Also in attendance were Russell Simmons and Knicks forward David Lee.

Lutz and McCord, plus friends, also made an appearance at Georgica Restaurant in Wainscott, where rock royalty, Alexandra Richards, served as DJ. "Real Housewife" Alex McCord and her husband, Simon van Kempen, were also spotted with executive chefs Seth Levine and Robert Hesse.

Lutz and McCord finished their Fourth of July night at AXE Lounge at Dune in Southampton after Lutz co-hosted the Social Life Magazine party, along with model and heiress Lydia Hearst, whom he shared the cover of the Mag with. McCord reportedly wasn’t feeling well and spent part of the evening waiting for Lutz, who partied inside and checked on his gal pal every once in a while.

"Royal Pains?" Indeed! Just ask Southampton Hospital

"Royal Pains," the USA Network series on the life and times of Dr. Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein) who makes house calls in the Hamptons, has only been on the air a few weeks and it is already losing favor with the locals.

In a recent episode, Hamptons Heritage Hospital, which is modeled after Southhampton Hospital, is referred to as a "taco stand" and "the local cemetery." Harsh.

Southampton Hospital's chief executive Robert Chaloner, who late last year proudly helped announce his institution's affiliation with Stony Brook Medical Center, is angry about the insensitive references.

Despite advice to the contrary, Chaloner let loose on the show to the East Hampton Press, saying his employees, especially the doctors, tell him: “We work our butts off, and they make us look like idiots.” (Click here to read the full account.)

Hot bar in the Hamptons: Blue Parrot

The Blue Parrot at 33A Main St. in East Hampton, 631-329-2583, is up and running with celebrity owners. (Click here to read all about the food.)

Here are 10 things you need to know about the bar-restaurant

1) Reservations only on Friday and Saturday nights.

Don't even try to get a table as a walk-up. Lunch is a different story, though. Blue Parrot is open daily for lunch and dinner.

2) Bring your phone.

When I went, it was still the soft opening, so they were taking names and cell numbers to call when your table was ready. This is a nice feature and the guess here is that this will continue on busy, nonreservation afternoons and nights. It's way more convenient than handing out those bulky buzzers that blink like you just won the pink elephant at the town fair. This is the Hamptons, people, not Applebee's or Bennigan's. I mean, really.

3) Maximum Occupany Allowed: 48.

They're mad strict on the 48-person capacity, be it at the bar or at a table.

4) No food at the bar.

You can get a seat at the bar if you're lucky, but you can't order food to the bar. Booooo! Takeout is available, though.

5) Dirty Bird Tuesdays

$10 burritos (normally $16) and $4 beers.

6) See what's playing.

Remember, there's a movie theater down the alley, so Blue Parrot keeps that day's movie times on the board near the front door.

7) Big-screen TV

Blue Parrot has one screen in the corner by the bar, which is perfect for afternoon baseball.

8) Outdoor seating

Blue Parrot has three four-top tables on a covered patio adjacent to the bar.

9) They serve late-night.

That's really all you need to know, but just in case you're really curious ...
>> Blue Parrot late-night menu
10) The bold-faced names

For those of you who care about this sort of thing, Renee Zellweger, Jon Bon Jovi, Ron Perelman and Larry Gagosian are among the partners involved one way or another with Blue Parrot.

New York Knick Chris Duhon, "NY Housewife" Jill Zarin, and New York Giant Justin Tuck played in the Hamptons Golf Classic V Monday, June 29, at the Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club in Westhampton to benefit Duhon's Stand Tall Foundation.

Duhon, a native of Slidell, La., started the foundation to build up kids through recreation, education and welfare.

In response to Hurricane Katrina that devastated not only New Orleans but his hometown about 30 miles away, he started Operation 21 with the goal of "building 21 outdoor courts for the New Orleans area, so the kids can have a place to play. That kept me out of trouble, having a park to go to and playing any kind of sport." He tells his story in the current Hamptons magazine.

Get There public relations principle Zev Norotsky founded the tournament, which benefits different charities each year, because, he said he thinks, "Golf is the one sport that embodies the spirit of the Hamptons." -- Lee Fryd

Beth Ostrosky Stern: Puppies and kittens -- no babies

We caught up with Beth Ostrosky Stern in East Hampton Saturday night at the Tommy Hilfiger store event hosted by Hamptons Magazine, Hilfiger and Molly Sims and then the Phoenix House party honoring Niche Media’s Jason Binn and wife Haley at Phoenix House board member George Kellner’s East Hampton home.

Beth was with Howard Stern seven years before he proposed, on Valentine's Day 2007. They finally tied the knot in October.

“I love married life,” she said. “I highly recommend it. As good as it was, it’s 100 percent more thrilling. Now, Howard’s my family: I’m a Stern.”

So, can we expect any new Sterns running around the Hamptons?

“We have one little girl, an English bulldog,” she explained. “But I feel I have all of the animals in North Shore Animal League, for which I’ve been the proud spokesperson for the past five years.

"We have more than 20,000 adoptions a year. I love spreading the word and telling everyone about their wonderful mission."

You are a very good spokeswoman for a very good cause, but, to get back to the question . . .
“I’m going to have lots of puppies, lots of kittens, but no human babies.”

Kelsey Grammer hosts Artists Against Abuse gala

Kelsey Grammer had personal reasons for hosting the Artists Against Abuse gala Saturday, June 27, with his wife, Camille, at the Ross School in East Hampton.

The 14th annual event benefited the Retreat, a haven for victims of domestic violence in the East End.

Not only was he doing a favor for gallery owner Peter Marcelle, Grammer said, “I was in an abusive relationship with a woman for a year. My second wife used to beat me. I’ve written about it.

"One of the great things I learned is, it’s such a trap: the insidious, pathological low self esteem that keeps you in that relationship. That cycle has to be broken. It’s very common, and very few get out. So, this is such a good cause.

Grammer was married to stripper Leigh-Anne Csuhany, from 1992 to 1993.

He said he was still “sorting out what had happened in my second marriage” during the OJ trial, which began in September 1994.

“Most people that been abused, when asked if OJ Simpson was guilty would say, ‘Well, I don’t know,’" Kelsey continued. "People who had never experienced abuse in their life , would say, ‘Are you kidding me, fry him!’ ” -- Lee Fryd

Speaking again: Rocco DeSpirito and Jeffrey Chodorow

TV chef Rocco DiSpirito and restaurant financier Jeffrey Chodorow have obviously put their 1994 TV feud behind them.

We caught them chatting at the Phoenix House benefit honoring Niche media's Jason Binn and his wife, Haley.

Chodorow was the money behind Rocco's ill-fated restaurant and their feud was featured in the NBC reality show about it's creation.

At the time, Chodorow told NY Magazine, "'Rocco claims I cooked the books . . . I didn’t, but if I had, I would have been the only one of the two of us cooking at that restaurant.'”

But now Chodorw says, “I’m a lover not a fighter. What can I say? It was a moment in time. Move on."

The event, at Phoenix House board member George Kellner’s East Hampton home, raised money for residential and outpatient substance abuse programs in the Hamptons.

Guild Hall gets a taste of Twilight

(Edi Gathegi, left; Jackson Rathbone, right/ Photo by Tierney Bricker)

"Twilight" mania took a bite out of East Hampton this weekend when two of its highly sought-after stars, Jackson Rathbone and Edi Gathegi, performed at WordTheatre’s Pushcart Prize Benefit at Guild Hall on Saturday.

Gathegi said "This is my first real time" being in the Hamptons. Though, he does admit he stopped by for "a hot minute" on New Year’s Eve in 2004, but doesn’t count it as a real Hamptons experience. "It’s gorgeous here! I love it!" said Gathegi.

Gathegi flew that day from Italy and was leaving at 6 a.m. Sunday morning to head back to New York City, but called his stop in the Hamptons "a nice buffer. It's beautiful here!"

His co-star and fellow vampire Rathbone drove five and a half hours from Philadelphia, where he is filming "The Last Airbender," the highly anticipated M. Night Shyamalan action/fantasy film based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" in order to read one of the Pushcart Prize winning stories.

Rathbone provided the after-party’s entertainment by performing a six-song set with his 100 Monkeys bandmate, Ben Graupner. Rathbone joked during the intimate performance that they were "down three monkeys". The fan girls didn’t seem to mind as they took pictures and video of his performance.

Ania Perrin, a teenage "Twilight" fan, said she made her mother buy two $100 tickets for the event just to see Rathbone because "he’s just like really hot. And he’s a good actor."

Other actors who performed at the benefit included Brian Cox ("The Bourne Identity"), who had the audience non-stop laughing with his reading of "The Human Table" by Marvin Cohen I, Sean Young, Amber Tamblyn, Linus Roache, and John Heard who was interested in what other celebrities were in the Hamptons this weekend, asking "So, do you know if Paris Hilton or anyone else is here?"

Lynn Whitfield, who was in "The Cheetah Girls" and "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," said although she doesn't own a house in the Hamptons, she still tries "to make it out here whenever I get the chance. I love it!"

C.W. Post will sub for the Hamptons in 'Royal Pains'

<img alt="LIFILM12.jpg" src="http://weblogs.newsday.com/entertainment/localguide/outeast/blog/LIFILM12.jpg" width="300" align="right" hspace="5"

The North Shore's C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University will sub for the Hamptons on USA's "Royal Pains."

An episode will be taped from June 29 to 30 and again from July 6 to 9 at the North Shore Equestrian Center, which is located on the Brookville campus.

"The plot will not feature the campus," Rita Langdon, a university spokeswoman, writes in an e-mail. "The scene is a re-creation of a Hamptons horse show. Our equestrian team students will serve as riders. Theater majors will be among the 'extras' serving as spectators."

Other Long Island locales have been used in recent episodes, including Northport Village, Old Westbury Gardens and Oyster Bay Town Hall, seen here.
