Artie Lange back on Stern show
Artie Lange is back on the "Howard Stern Show."
The discussion of the much-anticipated return of the jovial comedian had to wait almost 10 minutes, much like Monday's show when Stern waited 10 to 15 minutes to dish the dirt on Lange -- who is in his latest bout with heroin and getting on the wagon.
His first words were "I want steak, I want steak!" seconds into the show, jabbing at media mogul Oprah -- a popular target on the show.
Lange said he returned to the area Monday, but needed "a day" before coming back on the show. He immediately went on the defense about skepticism about his latest tale of rehabilitation.
Lange said it was far from a spa treatment, that it was a process he did not want to go through. The comedian said it began with an intervention with his sister -- with whom he's very close -- and colleague and friend Colin Quinn. He soon admitted it was not a traditional rehab, but placed a heavy emphasis on detoxing through the experience.
He then went on to describe the treatment for his organs that were damaged by his drug and alcohol use. He later admitted his sister isn't speaking to him because she wanted him to stay for three weeks, but Lange returned to complete a profile for Rolling Stone magazine, which includes shows in Manhattan this weekend.
Lange said he would submit to random drug tests, something Stern said wasn't necessary. Stern, who has been accused by many of enabling his friend, said Lange has no need to lie about his drug use. Stern also emphasized Lange can take time from the show if he needs it to get better.
Asked what kind of drugs he was taking in his latest binge, he admitted alcohol, painkillers and heroin.
After that admission, Stern agreed to random drug tests, and Lange said he would leave the show upon failing the first test -- a claim that conjured an "Uh oh!" from Robin Quivers. She changed the terms to a failed test means Lange must go to "real rehab" for 30 days, something Stern signed off on.
When the Sirius XM Satellite radio show returned on Monday, it was without Lange, who was reported to be in Miami finishing treatment at a rehab/detox facility. After much discussion, Stern and show companions Robin Quivers, Gary Dell'Abate and Fred Norris questioned just how much Lange's situation in Miami constituted traditional drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
2008 had its fair shares of lows for Lange, who at one point quit the show after an on-air bout with one of his assistants that turned physical. HowardTV, OnDemand programming dedicated to Stern programming, released a special recapping Lange's year -- for it's far too much to put here.

Great job -- listening to the Stern Show and getting paid for it. Truly, I'm envious. Thanks for posting this stuff, because I cannot listen to Stern at work.
Howard is a promotion God....I haven't listened to him since he went off regular radio..Still, Howard is getting press off of this untalented, waste of Life "Artie" How about we arrest him for drug use, or just let him die! This over-rated, unfunny, bloated pig was lucky to be a dock worker. Artie ruined the show for me a long time ago. Now he is "News"? Give me a break.
Hey Artie, how about you finish up your Chris Farley impersonation already....
who really cares about this overweight hack? this is just another
bit in the so called comedians life. he should do us all a favor
and pull a belushi already.

Welcome back Artie - the Stern show is not funny without you. You are what makes the show - period!!
Unfortunately, you have weight issues, and substance abuse issues, but that has nothing to do with the fact that you are what makes the show interesting.
Whoever calls you untalented is jealous that they cant get away with the things that you do and still have a job. Well, I say, good for you. If I could do it too, I would.
Glad to have you back- you kill!!
I listened this morning for about 1/2 hour on my way to work. I am a huge fan of Artie and I pray for him to get well... but he sounded like he was coked out of his mind this morning. He was totally wild and all over the place :(

Unfortunately this guy will only fail again and this time it will occur sooner rather than later and the next fall will be worse. As a drunk in recovery for a few years I've seen hundreds of individuals like himself who fool themselves into believing they are better when in fact his condition needs a daily acknowledgment that he is a drunk and he chooses whether he drinks that day or continues to live clean to the best of his ability.
ARTIE LANGE IS A BEEFSTEW, RIIIGHT???
He's already dead. Stern should have a good time watching him climb into his coffin over the next couple of weeks.
Artie Lange is an comedian/entertainer. We pay to listen to him on Howard, or, to see him in standup.
Whether he is fat, or a substance abuser, has nothing to do with me. If I pay to hear or see him, and he is funny, thats what counts.
His personal life is his own issue, and he has to want to correct his problems. End of story!!
Everyone should just concern themselves with the fact that you get what you are paying for with him. Personally, I think he is worth listening to. Also,
enjoy his stand up shows, although his New Years eve show wasy grossly overpriced, and therefore, cancelled.
I like him, but not $300.00 worth in a crappy neighborhood in NJ.
So there you have it people. If you like him, fine - if not, tune out.
I agree %100 with Paul, I envy that you get paid to listen to the stern show. As far as Artie, I will be the first to admit his stand-up sucks, I have seen its the whiskey talking. But anyone who says he ruins the show or isn't funny on the show, shouldn't be listening because they obviously don't have the right sense of humor for the Howard Stern Show. The truth is he adds more to the show than Robin. I would put him right behind Howard and Fred as the greatest contributor to the show.
So who really gives a u-know-what about this guy? I'm sorry he has a problem, but is this really headline news? I don't have satellite radioand don't listen to stern.
this guy just needs to die already, Artie ------- sucks, he used to be funny now he sucks ballz
did anyone hear that Benicio Del Toro interview that fat ass almost ruined. the last two shows without him were funny as hell so i think he can go kill himself and Howard will bring Colin on
The show has never been better and Artie is to thank for it!! Love them all!!! But Artie, please get your s*** together....we love ya!

I have to say Howard is probably the worst boss when it comes to Artie and his "problems".
It is the only way he can make news anymore is with this fat sick tool sidekick. I miss Jackie the Jokeman.
Nice Blog !!

Here is another source of information I found. They can help save a life by making it easier to find an appropriate addiction treatment and center that is best suited for the individual and/or the family’s needs.

I'm sorry, but only Howard can make Artie interesting. He sucks at everything else. I miss Jackie more and more.
Is it as obvious to anyone else that Artie Lange has a mad crush on
Benicio Del Toro? He just HAD to get high b/c with Benicio's extra-good looks
Artie wanted to party with him.Artie,I'll bet you was on at least hydromorphone
THATS why he's so talkative. If he was on cocaine,he'd be drinking alcohol b/c they go hand-in-hand
Maybe he's on both, come to think of it,he DID want to drink WITH
Benicio-so he could bond with him.And all that g'damn yakking like a B-R-O-A-D.Does he consider his
cunty sister a broad? If he refers to all females as broads then it's only fair that his sissy,
which too I'll bet he calls her in private with his thumb in his mouth.AND,I can tell he had a homosexual
experience sometime in his life.Even recently. That is why when a caller called in to Howard to tell Artie to shut
up,Artie called him a homo,as though to take the name that describes Artie, and yell to the guy,and Benicio caught it.
Artie..come out come out where ever you are ..it's so obvious that you get high b/c it bothers you to hide the fact that your a homo-
that is why all the drugs, all the food, you probably,at this spa,had a happy ending with a male masseus and now you feel great to have finally been in your element
You don't hear Fred spewing nonsensicle things..but put a great looking guy in the room who obviously is not gay-doesn't ever have to call another guy a homo or fag
though somehow you do,Artie. You can't hide it and that is the exact reason that Howard is on your side-b/c Howard has a gay cousin, that's why he is conserned by your actions.
C'mon Artie..come out come out wherever you are-that closet you are in..then see how gayly happy you'll be.Then when Benicio comes around again-you can tell him exactly what's on your mind-his dick
Why can you not ever be truthful Artie?Oh yeah..you are an Atheist now so now you can get your dick sucked by a man and 'no more worries..just fun'ya fag.
OH YES..BRING IN COLIN QUINN HE"S funny./He IS F-U-N-N-Y.
HE makes me laugh. Please Howard,Please please we need Colin
Quinn and let Artie go,oh please Howard..WE LOVE Colin:^)
Whats with the drug user hate around here?
Our last two and next president all loved drugs.
Drugs arent bad, its just some people are bad at doing drugs.
Some people become Artie Lange, others become president.
To any casual listener, it is obvious Artie is a closeted homosexual who lashes out violently at people because of his inner dealings with his sexuality.
