Barack Obama aces 'The Daily Show'

We told you in our TiVo alert on Tuesday to record Wednesday night's episode of "The Daily Show." We warned you.
Just in case you got silly and didn't do it, you missed out. Jon Stewart rocked with special guest Barack Obama. Ordinarily, conventional wisdom suggests that a presidential candidate with this type of lead in the polls (but, seriously, who really believes those things aside from the TV politicos who yap and yaw because there's a camera in their face and a check in the mail?) should avoid going on a show that airs on a network called "Comedy Central."
But these are not conventional times we live in.

I've pulled a passage from it, which is by far my favorite. It may not do the humor justice when just seen in words, but if you've seen Stewart's show before, you'll understand. And remember, this was on "Comedy Central."
Jon Stewart: Are you concerned in some respects, you know, and I don't even know how to bring this up. Obviously your mother is from Kansas. She's a white woman. Your father, African. Are you concerned that you may go into the voting booth and....Barack Obama: I won't know what to do.
Jon Stewart: Your white half will all of a sudden decide, "I can't do this."
Barack Obama: That's a problem.
Jon Stewart: What is it?
Barack Obama: I said it's a problem.

Obama said in his infommercial that the cutoff for no taxes is $200,000. Meanwhile he has stated all along that the cut off is $250,000. And Joe Biden mentioned at a rally that the cutoff is $150,000?

I noticed numbers too. Obama said if you make less than 200,000 you will receive a tax cut, if you make less than 250,000, you will not receive a tax INCREASE and Biden was saying 'middle clss' was people making under 150,000- not talking specifically about cuts at all.
If you make less than $250K/yr, you will not see a tax increase. If you make less than $200K/yr, you will see a tax cut. He even stated this during one of the debates.
And he's talking about tax CUTS, not no taxes.
monkeybusiness, I haven't read his book, but I'm sure you are misrepresenting whatever you read. He was (if I remember well) in a muslim school, but there was no indoctrination.... so much for brainwashing like they do in catholic schools... At least he was not at risk of being abuse by a priest... In any case, being muslim doesn't disqualify anybody. Do you remember your history? Spain did huge progress when the Muslims were in charge. They managed to respect Christians and Jews, and they worked with them in Sciences. Then the Catholics invade Spain and they lost everything. And they abuse Jews and Muslims at the same rate.
If your FAMILY income is less than 250k a year, or your SINGLE income is less than 200k you will get a tax cut. He's been saying the exact same thing since he unveiled his tax plan....
Hi Bob -- the 250k watermark means you will be paying no tax increase below that line, because your tax rate will remain steady. Below 200k, you will actually be getting a tax CUT. And Biden's 150k was an example, a number he pulled out of the air -- he'd quote a previous number moments before (something like 4 million) to illustrate the other end of the spectrum. But it was an example of an income level, not any important cutoff line.
Because once they get in they'll raise everyones taxes...they're democrats. They will then squander all the loot on developing new divisions in govt...That's what they've always done, it's what they'll always do.
I know they will raise my business taxes, make me pay even more toword my employees health care and cost me in many other ways. That said, I obviously need to reduce my business expenses. I'm going to fire a few more Democrats today...I hope they feel the "change" they were looking for....
Just a real life lesson in economics from the tax the "rich" people party...
Thank you to all of the folks explaining the tax cut, no tax increase numbers. However, you must understand that some folks are willfully obtuse.

We respond: this is exactly the type of rhetoric that allows us to vote Democrat this year, for the first time in decades.
What this country needs is not lower taxes, less government, or "x-tian family values". What the country needs is less easy credit lines for business, a cap on executive pay tied into the minimum wage, massive infrastructure upgrades nation wide, and a stake through the heart of the Ayn Rand.
What this country needs? Sure, what S.M. Cook just said, and a little tolerance and compassion mixed in for good measure. I cannot believe the hateful, mean, bigoted dialog going around in this election, I thought our country (for the most part) had moved way past that, guess not and too bad. The same people who are "scared" if Obama becomes president sure as heck scare the #*%@ out of me!

Boy, in today's polarized atmosphere, even JFK couldn't get elected. Obama will be just the beginning of a 20 yr hold on the White House by the Democrats mostly because the GOP caved to the right wingnuts. Watch and see if the GOP doesn't try faking a move to the middle 4 yrs from now. I hope they run Palin against Obama. Should be good for amusement.

You think you're saving money by firing your workers? You like the power you feel when you do that? Well let me tell you something. The worker and the consumer are the same person. If people are unemployed or working for peanuts they won't be able to buy your products and you'll go out of business.

What I'm really curious about is how many people really have thought through how well they are doing right now? I'm pretty well off, and my taxes may increase (though I doubt it). But I know that most of the people I know, and all the people I know are doing worse than they were 8 years ago. There has been massive wealth redistribution UP. The debt burden on our children will be paid for by the middle class, not by the people at the top. Worse, they have the cash now to buy stocks and mutual funds on the cheap, while the rest of us have to spend every penny on food, house, college, mortgage, etc.
So here's to all the Republicans who want to give us four more years of that. No thanks.

Based on this net, a sole proprietor could gross 3.5 million dollars annually and keep his taxes the same. If the business is a partnership they can gross 7mil and not pay more in taxes.
The point where taxes increase considerably in Obama's plan is at $600,000 net. A sole proprietor would have to gross 9mil or more to have a noticeable tax increase. People with this size of business are likely already writing off their car, some meals and other items so that the $600,000 profit goes even farther. A single mom making $25,000/yr doesn't have the flexibility to play with the tax code the way a small business owner does.
