Michelle Obama's recent TV appearance on ABC's gabfest "The View" apparently struck a chord with many viewers, and not just because of her friendly fist-bumps and sparkling conversation. Women want that dress!
Michelle, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, wore a flirty black-and-white dress that showed off her sophisticated White House style on the show. And men noticed it too. Fellow blogger and officemate Adam Abramson said Michelle was "looking radiant as ever!"

So, where can you snag that dress? The black-and-white leaf print dress is available at a store fittingly called White House/Black Market and costs $148. They operate 322 boutiques and 19 outlets nationwide, but don't even dare try walking into a store to get one.

Designer Donna Ricco, who has a showroom at 530 Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, originally created the dress and is selling it on her Web site for only $99, but it's currently sold out. She's working like crazy to get 3,000 more of the "Obama dresses" made by September, according to reports.

Why is the dress "infamous?" That is a negative word that, according to dictionary.com means "having an extremely bad reputation" or "deserving of or causing an evil reputation; shamefully malign; detestable."

The dress is stunning and appropriate for many occasions. Easy to add a black or white bolero jacket to or a crochet cover-up for a church service, wedding, or cool evenings.
I agree the wrong adjective was chosen. Nothing infamous about it--I believe that said dress was navy and from The Gap.

I think the dress is adorable and very lady like. Great for graduations, Easter or special family events. It doesn't hurt that she's tall and leggy and can pull it off with style! :)

The dress isn't bad, It fits her well and she looks good in it.It's not my taste, but it's way nicer than what the Bush-babies wear. Obviously Michelle only got the ratings because her husband is running for President. If he wasn't, she would be a nobody. People know about her because of Obama constantly being in the media.
While McCain gets his coverage, he is laying pretty low. If he stays out of the spotlight, then others in his circle will not have it either. So of course Cindy would not have as much of an audience.
As the election starts to heat up and McCain and Obama start going head to head more often, Cindy will get her chance to shine.
It's so funny how "newsjunkie" would take something as simple as a comment about a dress that someone was wearing & make it a "political" thing. No one said this would help Michelle Obama get her husband in the White House. So what if she was on The View?! Others have been on the show for plugs & you're not talking about "the only reason......blah,blah,blah". I'm sure Cindy McCain is being referred to as a potential First Lady as well. Michelle looked terrific. She made an impact as a guest host, partly because of the dress but also because of her intelligence, wit,
honesty when she talked about her husband's Fathers Day speech and also for being one of the girls and I am sure the campaign is enjoying all the "Free publicity" due to the dress. I am voting for him not matter what, so there.
I thought this dress was smashing! I liked it so much I am going to make a similar dress for myself. I am not waiting until September.

The dress is cute enough and you saw the dress on it's own and liked it enough to purchase fine. I am a staunch Obama supporter but I don't like the dress. Even if I did I would not purchase simply becasue a cadidates wife is wearing it. I don't belive in celeberty prompting.

The dress was cute. I can't believe that people are going crazy over it. Oh well. Michelle is a tall woman with a nice figure. She wore it well. As for not voting for Obama because of his wife? WTF? McCain said he "never loved his country" until he almost lost it. He also said it's "hard to be proud of America."
McCain's wife stole prescription drugs from her own charity, never went to jail, ruined her employee's career over it, caused her doctor to lose his license, and never went to rehab. Yeah, lots of people get addicted but they don't end up as lucky as she did. Michelle Obama IS the American Dream, a poor girl who could end up as First Lady.
