New Tanger outlet scrambling for employees

The new $300 million Tanger Outlet at The Arches in Deer Park, which plans an Oct. 23 grand opening, is in a race against time not to finish the complex but to find enough employees for the stores, a spokesman said.

At least half of the one hundred retail spaces will be open in time for the grand opening. But the complex still needs to train and employ the hundreds of retail salespeople, clerks, assistants, and support people needed to staff the stores, stock the shelves and greet the customers.

Neiman Marcus, Saks Off Fifth, Old Navy, American Eagle Outfitters, Jones New York, Regal Cinemas, Bose Factory Store, Gap, Children's Place, and Christmas Tree Shops are among the retailers in the complex.

A series of job fairs have been scheduled, with the first one taking place from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deer Park High School, at 1 Falcon Place. Others are scheduled.
