Giants owner Mara had a business vision of Coughlin as coach

In business, you often wouldn't want to play back the tape several years later on when a CEO or top manager is hired. Many times, it would be wince-city, as the best laid plans went totally to waste.

Sports is like that too. Four years later, many coaches or top players are long gone by then. So just imagine the pleasant surprise now as Giants owner and CEO John Mara reviews his comments on January 7, 2004 when Tom Coughlin was hired.

Sure there have been rough spots since then, and some fans and others called for Coughlin to be fired. But now all is forgiven with Coughlin and Big Blue headed to Super Bowl XLII.

Any business owner would be happy to see a hiring turn out so well.
